Have you ever seen a dhow being built, yet at the world's largest dhow yard? If you haven't been there, you're missing out. Taking place in Ajman Marina in the boat construction area and used for fishing and to carry merchandise like fruit and other heavy items in the past across a few continents, dhows are quite an essential part in emirati culture as it dates back to the pearl diving era in the Arabian Gulf. So keeping it alive is pretty important too. It's most recommended that you visit it around September to take part in watching the long distance Al Gaffal Race which usually starts at 5:30 am and finishes around noon. Explore how dhows are constructed, the history behind them and if you'd like, you can always purchase a crafted souvenir of your chosen dhow to take it home for a memory that lasts forever.
