I booked Mercure Dubai Gold District through Expedia, but unfortunately, my experience didn’t start well. When I landed at Dubai Airport, I called the hotel to check if early check-in was possible. That’s when I was told that I couldn’t stay at that property and should go to Mercure Deira instead. The surprising part was that I hadn’t received any email or notification about this change. When I reached Mercure Deira, I was told that my booking had been cancelled. After requesting them to check again, I was informed that the room type I had booked wasn’t available there either, and they asked me to go to Novotel Gold District. So, after landing in Dubai, I had to move from one hotel to another without any prior information. It was quite frustrating, especially after travelling. Thankfully, the check-in process at Novotel Gold District was smooth, and the staff handled everything very well. The room was also good, and overall, I had a pleasant stay. However, the property feels a little old, and some of the furniture was damaged. Basic amenities like slippers, a dental kit and towels were missing from the room and had to be requested separately. Overall, my stay at Novotel was good, and I appreciate the way the staff treated me. However, the experience with the original booking was disappointing. I booked through Expedia expecting everything to be arranged properly, and I feel the situation could have been handled much better with proper communication in advance. I hope the hotel management and Expedia take this feedback seriously.

To reach Hotel afternoon its was always headache ..to much traffic on the way, Indian Braakfast taste was not really good . tea cup and drinking glass need to replace or clean properly dialy, .Remaining things are good

Nice staff, big room, although the bidet in my toilet is leaking but still a nice stay. Food for breakfast is a bit boring , need some menu or dishes. But over all its a nice hotel yo stay.

One thing I didn’t like was the difference compared to Booking.com. On Booking.com, we were able to book a different room option, but when we arrived at the hotel, we were asked to upgrade the room due to certain reasons. This made the booking process feel less transparent, as the room we initially selected and booked did not seem to be presented as a complete option. It would be better if the available room options, limitations, and any potential need for an upgrade were made clearer at the time of booking.

Overall, the experience was satisfactory. However, customer care needs to be improved. Guests should be properly informed upon arrival about check-in arrangements, including any additional charges for early arrival, and provided with all necessary information to make their stay comfortable. There was also an issue during breakfast. Food was removed while guests were still standing in line to serve themselves, without politely informing them in advance that the food was about to be cleared. This was inappropriate and made the experience uncomfortable. Staff should communicate politely with guests before removing food, particularly when guests are already waiting to be served. Improving communication and customer care would greatly enhance the overall guest experience.
