After staying in the hotel for two months and logging in my loyalty points twice, I was not able to get any hotel points for my stay

The staff were excellent. The room was excellent, with a very comfy bed. There were no glasses or tumblers in the room. I was very disappointed that both swimming pools were out of commission. I was disappointed that the two restaurants (OPA and the French one) were both booked up and no priority was viable for hotel guests.

By far the worst Fairmont experience we've had. During check-in: 1) There's no one at the entrance. We followed the signs to valet parking at the back but there's also no one there. We had to bring our luggage ourselves at the check-in desk. 2) Receptionist refused to accommodate us since 1 of the guests have a soft copy of EID from ICA app. Other hotels accept this. After much talk/debate, asked us for additional fee for extra bed even though we already paid for the extra person charge online. She said, its a king size bed anyway. So she was expecting us to squeeze ourselves (3 adults) in a bed. She was not courteous at all. She makes you feel that you owe her for even just speaking to us. (PLUS, another gentleman checking in whom she also accommodated earlier was also angry because he asked for a smoking room but she gave him a NS but explicitly allowed him to smoke) (good luck if house keeping could get off the smoke smell--it will be a nightmare for sure) he was also angry. 3)There was no manager on the ground though it was check-in time to assist with these kind of special matters. Extra bed came 1.5hours later after 3 calls. 4) Room given was only set-up for 1 person. 1 bathrobe, 1 set of towels, 1 set of toiletries w/o toothbrush and 1 set of water. Every single time, we had to call again like 5x to get the basic necessities in the room for 3 persons. (water good for 3, towels good for 3, extra cup so all 3 can have coffee, and it took the same 2 hours wait) 5) Housekeeping - i asked for replacement of 3 towels (because we're 3) since they're all wet in the evening. I asked him to take the wet towels so they can clean it already. Housekeeping only gave 2 replacement towels saying, it is not allowed to provide 3. i practically was in complete awe and shock what kind of response i'm getting from a 5-star facility. I called reception to give my outburst/feedback and the same attendant came back with bottles and bottles of shampoo, conditioner and shower gel. We refused to accept these because we only want +1 extra towel! he was angry we didn't accept because he said that's what his boss asked him to bring. (not our problem) 6) In-room dining - asked for 1 warm glass of milk. it took them an hour to give and when they gave it, it was cold. Took another 1 hour to get back the right way. THAT's BY FAR THE WORST experience we have had.. and we stay in Dubai almost every weekend. If not for the fact that its near the metro and my little son wants to ride it, would have even opted for a 3 star hotel just to NOT experience that kind of treatment. Its almost discriminatory in my opinion. If there's any other alternative, i would suggest to take the alternative and make staying at this hotel the last option. Because it was a Nightmare. Positive points: The rooms are very clean, spacious (same as the other Fairmont hotels in the other emirates), breakfast is enjoyable too. Pool is quaint but heated and clean. The only two persons that absolutely held up the brand standards is the lifeguard at the sunset pool and the receptionist at check-out.

Check in nightmare

At check in I was told I needed my passport and a photo would not due. When I explained I was coming from Abu and didn't bring it down form the Four Seasons, they just told me it was in my confirmation email that I would need my passport at check in. I showed my confirmation email and there was no such information. Then they were very dismissive and would not help me to cancel my booking as they were not the reservation team. Thankfully the people at the Four Seasons were much more helpful and shuttled my passport down without question.

This was my first visit, I arrived very late (2am) and i waited a lot for my luggage (almost an hour). Everyday i waited for breakfast quee and tables were definitely not enough, staff asked me to take my plate and eat somewhere else but i had no time for this. As well, breakfast was poor (e.g. few cheses only), service was slow, i never had a tea or coffee on time. Another customer sent to a room which is already given to someone else. So the whole stay was definitely not in fairmont standard.

I did not feel I am in Fairmont Hotel. This hotel changed a lot. Very bad service. No welcome drink. I also had during one afternoon a very dirt water in bathroom, it was black water coming I don’t know where and thanks Gid I was not taking my shower during this time !!! It is not accepted to have such water with this COVID-19. They said it is due to maintenance. Also I booked for a smoking room and during check-in they said they must upgraded me to have a smoking room and I accepted because it is important to me while my booking was made one month in advance. It was my worse stay !!!

My home away from home when I am on a business trip to Dubai. Great service and people. Need to find a way to fix the challenges with breakfast area when busy. Omelet person needs to have a bigger station in order to move people through quicker. Hope to have the gold / executive floor opened soon.

I was arriving on an early flight, so I requested beforehand by email for an early check-in. Arriving at the hotel, a cold refusal for any early check in. They said they would call me when a room became available. They actually called me after 3 o'clock in the afternoon which is AFTER the official check-in time. The room they gave me first was wrong - twin beds instead of a king bed. The loud construction noise started every morning at 7.30 and went on throughout the day, I asked could I have a room without noise, they refused. Only one of the pools is open, so no chance of any sun until well into the afternoon. On the whole, a total disaster of a place - avoid!

A very stressful stay from start to finish and not something that I expected from a 5 star hotel, especially the Fairmont. The information which we were given by Emirates Holidays and on which we made our decision to book this hotel, was 1.5 years old according to Ela the deputy manager. There were ongoing renovations, of which we were not aware, one of the pools was closed, again we were not advised of this and the pool had been closed for over a month. We stayed for 12 days on a half board basis, this hotel should never be sold as a half board holiday as it does not h ae the facility for this. We received a list of restaurants which we could use from reception to find out we could only use 2 for half board, one was a sushi bar… my husband does not eat fish, so that left one…..th esports bar where people were allowed to smoke……..not good for a non smoking couple trying to eat a meal. In the sports bar the menu was severely restricted for half board allowing 3 starters, 4 mains and 3 desserts…….again not good enough for a 12 day stay. I could go on but I’ll stop at that, if you need any further information please do not hesitate to contact me, suffice to say I would not recommend this hotel to anyone coming to Dubai, it has to be the worst hotel I’ve stayed in and it was certainly the worst holiday I have had in Dubai.

at arrival at 11pm the check in process was slow. when asking to pay in advance i was told the cashier was not available. i had to insist and they said that the receipt would only come later to my room. it only arrived at midnight. the room was unpleasant, with loud music coming probably from the Hotel disco (i was on the 26 floor) i woudl not reccomend this hotel if you expect the level of service of a 5 star hotel.

I stay here quite often for work. The Fairmont has nice, clean, updated rooms. Everything I’ve ordered from room service and from the Trophy Room has always been great!

Whenever visiting Dubai, I have always stayed at the Fairmont - Shaikh Zayed Road since 2004. After all these years, this time, I would honestly describe my stay as just average. Check in was not as smooth as previous times i.e initally a smoking room was not available eventhough I had booked one a week before and had to change rooms the next day and most importantly NO complimentary upgrade as I have always been given. There were major delays in the in-room dining service even when ordering just water bottles, as well as delays for lunch at the Trophy Room, leaking airconditioner even though the newly designed rooms are very impressive. What I did not understand this time was that everytime I ordered for any service, be it in-room dining, Laundry or eating or having a drink at the Trophy room or lobby, I had to pay (Card/Cash) when the check arrived, everytime. Previously I could charge all this to my room, but I just couldn’t undertstand why I had to pay this time after each and every service? I mean sometimes one does not have cash on them, their credit card might be left up in their room, or if one is entertaining a business guest then it is easier to charge the expense to their room, but I just couldn’t understand this new rule. I have been wondering since if it is only here, at the Fairmont or everywhere? It is all quite strange though. My observation for the delays was that the facility was seriously understaffed which is not expected at an establishment like The Fairmont, which in my view is the most well located and was the most comfortable hotel in Dubai. Having said all the above, the only plus point is that, all the Staff and Guest Services representatives at the hotel are very warm, very friendly and very helpful at all times and the food quality at The Fairmont is and has always been Super, especially the Fairmont Burger. This is my personal and honest feedback of my trip this time. Thank you for listening.

When I arrived to check in I was informed they had overbooked and had to send me to another hotel, there was no pre warning about this. Eventually I returned 2 days later but had to push for this. The manager did listen to my complaint but said she was informed it was my choice not to return. I was disappointed with this level of service from a so called ‘high end’ hotel. The communication issues continued later on my stay.

Love the room 2212. We couldn't sleep for 48 hours. There was an emergency maintenance situation going on with loud banging. The elevator worked on and off. We had to go up to the 23rd floor to catch the elevator down to the lobby. There was a smell of sewage when we past some of the rooms. The stairwell was dirty. Breakfast was very good. Customer service was great.

Room was not cleaned most days until after 16:00. One day was nor serviced at all. Construction started at 8:15 so you had no choice but to leave the room early. Was not my best stay at a fairmont hotel.
