My room was not ready when I checked in at 5:00PM. Then when I got to my room, I did not like the knock on the door asking if I wanted to purchase a drink. I am a woman travelling alone, and that was not welcome.

Our stay started out less than ideal. Despite booking through what I thought was the fairmont Pittsburgh ( went to a fairmont website) I actually booked through a third party. Therefore when a “contracted group” was granted a late checkout our checkin time changed to 7pm. I happened to call in the morning and learned this as well as the restaurant closure for that evening. At the time I booked I was told that reservations on a Sunday night would be no issue . I was also told we would have a joining rooms which were not available at check-in . We were celebrating a birthday and meeting guests traveling from Cleveland so the late check-in and need to secure a dinner reservation was problematic. I did receive a call from the concierge around lunch who was very apologetic and offered to help with dinner reservations. Despite our disappointment in not being able to truly enjoy the hotel the birthday was still made very special . The staff went out of their way to help us and could not be more helpful. Christopher ( lobby attendant) went above and beyond as well as the staff that checked us in and out . The valet attendants were timely and top notch . We were compensated for our parking and a surprise birthday treat was awaiting after dinner . I would love to revisit the Fairmont under different circumstances and enjoy the hotel and all it has to offer . The staff truly made a disappointing situation memorable. Thank you !
