Excellent and courteous staff! Stayed at the hotel for a DC visit to celebrate my wife's birthday. We called for dinner reservations at the restaurant "Joe's" prior to the trip, and they had none available. With a quick phone call, the concierge, Mesfin, was able to get us confirmed for dinner. Everything else fell into place from there. The hotel was was clean and comfortable and provided for an enjoyable environment. The location is convenient to most major attractions. We could not be happier with our stay.

I stayed at Sofitel Washington DC for a short weekend getaway! The hotel was everything I could have asked for and more. So accommodating and everyone was so kind! The location was so close to everything! I had such a great trip!! Only complaint, when I booked I found an amazing deal 2 months prior to my reservation. There were a few occurrences where the hotel attempted to charge the full price—way more than what I confirmed originally when I made my reservation. However, when addressed, they were very apologetic and were accommodating to make sure I paid the price I originally agreed to. I was refunded the money back! Thank you so much for not giving me a difficult time!

I arrived to the hotel at 4:05pm on Saturday the 15th, 2020 and was told that unfortunately my room was not available to me and may have to wait up to an hour or so to be accommodated. It was my first time traveling with my 20 month old daughter and pregnant wife so I was not pleased to hear that despite the 3pm check in time but I like to believe I am an understanding person and therefore did not cause any sort of commotion; being a business owner myself I understand things happen. Tekia (hope it is spelled correctly) said she would upgrade me for the inconvenience (which did not happen) since 5 minutes after I was given the bad news or so that I decided to stay and wait with my family after telling my wife the news, she told me they were able to get us a room which was a relief and I was ok with. The part of my experience staying with the Sofitel DC that stood out to me was that to ensure I was satisfied and taken care of; Tekia went out of her way and spoke to her supervisor (name unknown) to get approval for my family and I to have lunch and grab a drink at that bar without any expense to me which was nice. I ended up coming down later that night before heading to our dinner reservations and told her I would take her up on her offer and we sat at the hotel restaurant. After a lovely meal with a very accommodating staff (active 20 month baby) I asked for the check (Did not expect the whole dinner tab to be taken care of despite my inconvenience) only to be told the tab was already taken care of. This gesture really impacted me for all the right reasons and definitely surpassed any type of disappointment when I arrived especially since it surpassed any expectation I had. The staff at your hotel and restaurant was beyond amazing and it all started with Tekia. Being someone that travels often for business and pleasure I have to say my stay was second to none solely because of the way Tekia and the staff turned a negative into a positive on their behalf (I never complained) which showed me how genuine the interest was to ensure my family and I had a great stay. I am very pleased with you guys and ensured my 5 digit Instagram social media following (ilimitless_) knew about it since everyone is always so quick to speak of bad experiences but never the good. Thank you and I will be back.

Nice friendly staff, poor overall experience, paid 2k for a suite for weekend stay, put me outside the elevators, and very noisy thin walls. No bed top sheet??? staff said its not done in European hotels??What is that?? So unhygienic... gross... so many places to stay in DC i would never go back here! courtyard Marriott level not 5 star ... yuk yuk

Long weekend with family including elementary age children to visit the Smithsonian and monuments. Sofitel was well appointed with helpful staff. Do wish they had a spa on site for my wife, but otherwise a great stay with nice restaurants nearby.

Upon arrival the staff were very friendly when checking in. I had made a special request as it was my fiancés birthday and shortly after checking in, the brought up a piece of desert to the room which was nice. However, we weren't in the room 1 hr before we had issues with the toilet. The toilet completely flooded, water came pouring out. We had to use all the towels to clean up and we left the room and I spoke with a lady at reception and she assured me someone would have a look. We were also glad to get out of the room as there are not any windows or fresh air coming in and the room can be quite stuffy. We were very relaxed, we didn't demand a change of room or anything however just a clean and check up. Upon return, at midnight - 6 hours later, our room was in the same state. No one had come to check on the room or clean it. On top of that they had no note made of it on our booking, so I had to explain the situation to them again. The staff were apologetic but didn't do anything about it that night either. The next morning we explained to the cleaning staff that we had problems with the water pressure and we apologized that all our towels were used up and we asked if she could replace them. She was lovely and sweet and did a great job, but that morning we had to go downstairs to use the bathroom and we didn't have any clean towels to take showers. So there was some inconvenience with that. That night, the cleaning lady had our room perfect and we were glad to be able to use our bathroom again. When we arrived back to our hotel the Sunday, I spoke with another receptionist (third time speaking with them now) and she was very helpful and nice and apologetic and told us we wouldn't have to pay the $30 daily hotel fee. We could have asked for another room, or spoken to a manger but we thought this was a nice gesture so we left it at that. Then the next morning - when checking out I spoke with a man and I had to explain this all over again- there was no note made on my booking that his had happened and I had to go through the story all over again. I expressed that by this time I had spoken to 5 different people and not one of them must have communicated to a manager or made any note on our booking about our issue. So the lack of communication here was frustrating. He receptionist did drop the fee of the $30 fee but at this stage we were glad to be checking out. The restaurant staff, the food was lovely the cleaning lady was lovely and the receptionists were really friendly but the lack of communication became a problem. Between the cost of the hotel and our food and drinks in the lobby, we had spent a lot and I was happy as it was my partners birthday but this made our experience frustrating and I'm not sure I'd be recommending this hotel.

I am a regular, staying at least twice per month, and sometimes as many as three times for three to four nights per stay. So I can't participate in these surveys. But the last stay was for two nights, in which the concierge organized my Accor account and informed me I was Silver status and entitled to a free drink that night. Your people there -- door man, desk staff -- know me and remember me, which is always nice when one is away from home.

We did not receive 5-star hotel quality at all. There was some sort of dried up barbecue sauce or ketchup on the night stand near the bed. The mirror in the bathroom was chipped in several places. The bed was not made well. We had to reposition the mattress pad twice. There was no fitted sheet. A flat sheet was used to cover the mattress pad and another flat sheet was on top of it to lay under. When we returned to our room after a full day (in which room service had come and gone), there were 0 washcloths in the bathroom. When we ran low on soap, we called to request another bar and never received it. Finally, and this was the final straw for me, the morning of our day to check out, an employee knocked on our door at approximately 9:25a and asked us when we would be checking out. Coincidentally, we were already dressed and headed out early that morning so I politely responded that we were coincidentally leaving in about 5 minutes. But I was internally infuriated that any establishment would do that. What if we were still asleep? Why the rush?! And why were they asking anyway?! I have never had that happen before! I am certainly preparing to write reviews on this establishment across yelp, google, and tripadvisor. I do not plan to stay at a Sofitel establishment again, and am glad to know that they are a part of Accor hotels so that I may steer clear of sister chains.

Wonderful hotel -- gym needs work

Stay here frequently when staying downtown. Hotel is lovely, clean and safe -- bar is great. The gym is terrible in that the equipment is old, doesn't work and is generally subpar. Lots of guests couldn't use anything, myself included due to broken equipment.

Big, comfortable rooms -- a nice plus. Also lots of amenities, including plush bathrobes and toiletries. On the less positive side, the feather pillows (or comforter?) leaked feathers throughout my 3-night stay. Also, the service in the hotel restaurant at breakfast was woefully neglectful; slow, forgetting to bring items, not filling water glasses, etc. Maybe that was just an off day (it happens).

I have stayed here numerous times with out any issues. However this time was horrid. First they screwed up my reservation so that my first name and last name were screwed up. Secondly, the room wasn't ready at 6pm time of check in. Then the TV was broken, but was repaired quickly. And finally the sparkling water in the mini fridge was flat as the bottle might have been previously opened. I wont stay there again.

This stay was clearly an exception and it I sad to hear that you will not be staying with us in the future. I can assure you that we are taking every step to make sure something like this does not happen again and it is certainly not the level of service we pride ourselves on.
