I was taken advantage of & am not happy. Checked in very late, soaking wet & checked out the next day yet given no discount whatsoever for the awful room we were put in. Myself & my 17 yr old daughter who will be attending GWU for 4 years felt that the service was unimpressive & I should have been compensated. Especially knowing so many family members & friends will be visiting her - this hotel should have gone out of its way to accommodate better.

Have stayed at Sofitel in and out of the US. I thought this particular building is beautiful in architecture, but could use a cosmetic remodel. Veronica was gracious and very helpful as well as your maids. You should post that the room service is limited as well as your limited restaurant hours.

Great location but abandoned in the pandemic

We spent 6 days in a family trip. We were looking for the best location in Washington and a family friendly 5-star hotel offering family packages. I have stayed at Accord hotels in many countries (particularly in France) and had a good impression of the brand. My experience was very disappointing - upon checking-in we were sent to a dirty room (the beds were not done and I thought that we would come across another guest), the rates we had obtained from Sofitel's central reservation system were different to the rates that the hotel's staff had in their system and a significantly higher deposit charge was made to my credit card. I had been offered a family package with full breakfast included and the restaurant was closed during the whole week (except for the first morning), the hotel has no concierge and no visible person who can assist guests. We understand how challenging is for a hotel to navigate in the pandemic but the conditions of the hotel are inacceptable. The manager, a wonderful and fine woman, was the only positive experience during our stay. She works 24 hours and was very kind. She apologized when we left, but we did not receive any rate reduction (we would have expected a significant credit after all the foregoing). All restaurants in Washington are currently open and the hotel's restaurant must be open. That was an important factor when I decided to stay at the Sofitel. There is no reason to close the restaurant other than saving operation expenses. It is clear. Not having a concierge must have the same reason behind. The to-go breakfast was fairly well, but very different to what had been offered to me when I made the reservation. I had considered staying at the Mandarin Oriental and regret not having done that. This is unacceptable at any 5-star hotel. Last but not least, the rooms look old and the furniture is damaged (I have a couple of pictures that can share with you).

As a business traveler, convenience is paramount. Having the restaurant closed on Monday, no room service, and no snacks in the room was inconvenient. Additionally, the lack of housekeeping, while not terribly inconvenient, was missed. The room was clean and tidy, but having someone else clean and tidy it up and make the bed while you are away is a little perc of business travel that was missed. I am not sure whether these issues are due to Covid safety restrictions or lack of staff. Hope that next time I return is closer to normal.

Hotel was wonderful, room was awesome (clean, comfy, spacious) and great location! The staff was outstanding! Marlo and the hotel bar/opaline restaurant staff were lovely- super friendly, very welcoming and always ensured my daughter and I were taken care of with drinks/food etc. We really enjoyed our time there and will definitely be planning a trip back soon!

Hot room poor service

Our suite was ridiculously hot even after maintenance came No pillows or blankets for pull out when we arrived Dirty blanket brought up had to get a new one We left early bc we were all uncomfortable and no one asked us why when we left

This was our 2nd time in the hotel and the experience was not even close to the first time years ago. The towels in the bathroom were old, rooms were cleaned late. There was verily any service offered. Really bad idea to offer breakfast that needed to be picked up at the front desk. I understand that it needed to be packed to go but it is a really poor service not to even drop it at the room door

I've always loved the Sofitel and was looking forward to returning, but it was very disappointing to find out there neither the restaurant nor the bar was open, and all breakfast entailed was picking up a bag at the desk.

While we actually love this hotel, we were not prepared for the curtailed services there during this stay. They only have maid service every 7 days, and they don't stock the minibar. I think these are COVID precautions to keep people out of the room, but they didn't announce it until we got there. We would have appreciated a heads-up when we booked the room.

We stayed two nights at the Sofitel. I had been wanting to stay at this hotel for awhile. The location was great. The room was very clean and the staff was very pleasant. There was no room service, no fitness room, we had to ask for coffee K-cups for the Keurig in the room, food service was available for ordering but you had to pick it up in the lobby. It was difficult to understand why the food could be brought to the lobby but not left outside the room. No services and they still charged a $30/day facilities fee...which we could not find mentioned on the website. The website also did not mention the services not being offered.

Highly recommend the Sofitel Washington DC. The location was amazing, the hotel beautiful, super comfortable beds and a great shower! The staff were extremely accommodating and helpful - I stayed during Covid and felt safe here at all times.

I am writing to tell you how disappointed I was in the lack of service from this hotel. The non-existent housekeeping was a major disappointment. After 3 days, I hated my room. There is no logical reason to prevent housekeeping from cleaning a guest's room when the guest is out. Closing you restaurant while others stay open in your area was another major inconvenience. I my opinion, your management has used Covid19 as a way to reduce your overhead at the expense of your guests. The front desk staff did an amazing job attempting to do everything they could since your management pushed everything onto them. In hindsight, I wish that I had stayed in an Airbnb.
