Despite being right in the heart of the city, the hotel seemed to be in a quieter corner. Very easy to get there and get around on foot, on Metro, by a taxi. The room was first right with plenty of outlets and a lot of nice amenities.

We wanted to have breakfast or brunch as advertised on Sunday first day of our stay. We arrived at 11:05 am at the restaurant and were turned away despite all signs and information pointed to 11:30 am being when breakfast was finished. Most importantly the breakfast staff were not civil. We mentioned this to the reception received a very courteous apology acknowledging the miscommunication in hotel publications and information and were told we could have complimentary breakfast and drinks. We did have breakfast the next day as well as drinks but the complimentary somehow disappeared as we paid for them upon checking out. This was a 3 night stay for a business - pleasure combination. Please be accurate in your communications deliver on your promises and train your breakfast staff to be civil. The hotel facilities are excellent the location perfect and the staff in all other functions except for breakfast incredible.

The hotel lacks any security at the front or the elevators. No doorman to control who comes in and out of the hotel. Furthermore, no key needed to access floors where rooms are.
Anyone can walk in and access the floor you are staying. i will not stay at this sofitel again.

Room was spacious, clean, classy. Front desk was very helpful. Gym was clean but small, not sure there is much that can done about that. Perhaps a second bench would be a plus.

Upon checking in, I was charged $200 more than my reservation and the hotel has been unresponsive. I have twice emailed the reservation address listed on the booking confirmation. Further, a family member visited the hotel during my stay to request she be charged instead. So, we may have both been charged for the same room and stay. The hotel hasn't refunded any portion of the charge and will not respond. It's strange that I keep getting email requests to complete this survey, but sure, Sofitel. Here's your survey.

The hotel is in a great location. Walkable to anywhere in DC and many restaurants. There is not much room at the hotel to just hang out other than the restaurants which would have been nice to have instead of sitting in the room when we had a little down time. The staff was excellent and valet service was phenomenal.

I do not want this review published, but would like to provide feedback. We had a wonderful stay. The room was lovely and comfortable. The staff was friendly and professional. The location was fantastic. On our last morning, we ate breakfast at the hotel, and then started our long drive home to NY. A few hours into the trip, we were both hit with stomach cramps. We had to quickly find a bathroom, and spent the next hour or so with diarrhea. I don't know if this was related to our breakfast, but thought I should pass this information along, just in case there was a food safety issue.

The gym needs to improve. Water is not on time on the fridge. The main 2 machines do not work. The hotel is great, the food, the location, all great. Just improve the gym...

We loved our stay at Sofitel Washington DC. The hotel was very comfortable and clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful. What really did us in was the restaurant. We were told it was amazing by staff and that we should eat there and would receive a discount since we were staying at the hotel. The food was not very good. For the cost the portions were very tiny. The service was extremely slow and it was very hard to get any ones help. My autistic daughter did not like the pasta, I don't blame her, I tried it and it was horrible. We asked for chicken strips instead. They finally came once everyone had finished and were ready to leave. My poor girl was starving the whole time. But the worst part was the food poisoning my entire family got the next day. It really put a damper on our trip. Also the fact we paid over 100$ just to have to spend the entire day in the bathroom and buying medicine to try and make it through the rest of the week. So yes to the hotel. Absolutely NO to the restaurant .

I have mixed feelings about my recent stay. On the positive side, the service was great. The staff members were lovely, polite, and welcoming throughout my visit. The lobby bar also has a really good vibe and makes a nice first impression.Unfortunately, the property itself is very inconsistent. The design has an outdated feel with a strange mix of modern and old furniture that doesn’t quite work. My biggest issue was the bedroom; it was small and had a distinct moldy smell, which made it uncomfortable. Additionally, while the lobby bar looked great, the drinks were terrible and tasted like medicine.Given the condition of the room, the price per night is simply not worth the stay. I appreciate the great service from the team, but the property needs a lot of work before it justifies the cost.
