Overall the hotel experience was excellent. However on the Friday night we were woken at 1.30am by a group of drunk guests doing what appeared to be a handstand competition in the corridor outside our room. We had to call guest services. Given we had an early flight on Saturday this was disruptive. When paying $400 per night for a room I would have thought this room type would be in a quieter part of the hotel.

Exceptional with a twist of surprise and a welcome back greeting.

My room was well appointed and comfortable. The Front desk was generally polite but I felt like some staff felt that I was too lower class to be there. Why? Well I called ahead about self parking and was given wrong information. While on the call, I politely asked if the entrance changed for self parking and was assured that it was the right place to go. Fast forward to my arrival and my recollection was correct. To add insult to injury when I asked the valet he did not provide clear instructions. All this delay made me even later for an event I was attending that evening. When I inquired about the rates for parking - that was something I had wrong since it turns out that I have only stayed on weekends - I was given such generic feedback and the response to support was so unenthusiastic that I decided to let it go since I was late enough at that point. I had decided to treat myself that night and it took every bit of me not to allow that lack luster start to ruin my evening. I even got the impression that valet parking was complimentary that evening because of the film shoot but I got no such offer. I happily paid my money to be there. I should not have felt judged and as if I was being treated unequally...

We were surprised to be upgraded to a gold level from a deluxe room and it was a rewarding experience. The rooms were spacious and tastefully done. The washroom had a beautiful spacious shower. We found the included dining area for breakfast and deserts wonderful with a fine variety of foods and beverages. The dining area was very nice and the staff was excellent. Our stay exceeded our expectations and we will not hesitate to return and will share our experience with others. I rate this at five stars.

This was my first time staying at this location which I had booked for our first anniversary, trying to make it special. My troubles started when I was online trying to book a gold suite. I am aware of the gold floor amenities but felt confused when the packages were showing the cost of breakfast (which I obviously wanted to include). The website was hard to read and it was frustrating that there was offers listed with amenities that were already included as a gold member. About a week before, I called because there was a chance I was going to have to make another reservation. At that point, the lady informed me that I had actually over paid for my room and made the adjustments. I just felt like that shouldn't have happened in the first place. We arrived at hotel, the signage in the elevator was really unclear if the 18th floor was the gold concierge - I believe it said "Canada Concord" or something similar. I was disappointed with the quality of the room as it didn't have a bath tub as requested but instead had a mini fridge with a note on file that it was for sparking wine (not something I requested), and it had a strong odour of cleaning chemicals. My partner and I both had 2 terrible sleeps as we were right next to the elevator and housekeeper closet/room so we constantly heard people chatting and the elevator dings (room 14111). Saturday night we ordered in room service, which arrived cold. In prior stays at other locations, I have been called a few days before to ask about our pillow preferences, what time we would like tea/coffee brought to our room in the morning and what time we would like turn down service. None of that was mentioned or offered. I had to call to order milk for my tea which took over 45 minutes to arrive. We came upstairs to the lounge for some food only to find there was a very limited selection. Overall, I left feeling so discouraged. I called on the Monday to share with my experiences and just find out why this location was so poor compared to others. If I had known our first anniversary experience would have ended up like this, I would have booked at another hotel. I chose the Fairmont Gold for the Gold experience as usually it is amazing but unfortunately that was not the experience we had. The lady I spoke to was very friendly and apologetic and polity suggested that I should have said something right away so the hotel could have tried to correct the problem instead of letting it get worse. The last thing I wanted was to cause a scene on our first anniversary so I tried to just move on. The lady said she wanted to pass on my feedback to a manager and that they would follow up with me. A week passed and I had received no communication so I sent in an email inquiring for an update. On Saturday, I received a call from a manager by the name of Jessica asking me to return her call as soon as I could and she would next be at work on Monday. I called on Monday and the next gentleman I spoke to informed me that Jessica was no longer with the company. Why would she take on my file if she knew she was departing. That is not ideal continuity of care for the guest. Anyways, I was once again told that a manger would follow up with me by the end of the day or by Tuesday (today) and I have once again received no communication.

I’ve stayed at the Royal York several times in the past for both personal and corporate events, such as Tim Hortons Children’s Foundation Galas. I’ve yet to stay post-renovation. I love the Reno. Your lobby is stunning and my room was gorgeous.

We were pleased with the room 10-132 and with the renovations to the hotel. We had an enjoyable evening at the TPS Gala but when we tried to go to sleep that night at 11:45 we could hear voices in the adjoining room and it didn't seem like it was a party-just regular voice level. We finally did get to sleep but at 2:10 a.m. we were awakened by other guests talking loudly and at the top of their voices as they went past our room; very rude considering the time of night. Overall it was a terrible night, not much sleep at all. We noticed again at 8:00 a.m. that we could hear voices in the near rooms at a conversational level. We expected better from a Fairmont Hotel. I have been attending the same event at RYH for 41 years. I would have to say this was the worst. My best experience was checking in where the hostess was very pleasant and worked with me to find a room. Security were rude. My booking experience with the first 2 people I talked to was painful and very slow to respond. very slow. inability to accommodate suites and assigning them to new companies Vs companies that has maintained the same suite for many years. was appalling. the inability to accommodate the same date that the TRC has maintained for 85 years shows a total lack of respect for your customers. over all in many people I talked to the RYH has gone from a 5 star to a 2 star. While the rooms are very small you used to make up for it with service. not any more. such a shame to see such a fine establishment go down hill so badly.

Front desk wasn’t able to give us the room we had booked and offered us a room with a double bed for husband and I. I asked for a better solution as this was a special weekend for us. We were put in a room that had pipes blowing loud noise throughout the night. A sewage smell in the bathroom and the shower head seem like it was going to come off when using the shower. We didn’t complain as we wanted to just make the most our time there. When checking our friends were given a complimentary breakfast and so when I asked why we weren’t getting anything she replied in a manner that what we booked was “lower class”. I was embarrassed and didn’t speak a word. I was offended. She spoke to a manger who didn’t even come to greet us to help with booking us a room as it was the hotels error in over booking rooms. In result the room we were out in was horrible and not what we had booked.

From the moment we walked into the lobby we were impressed by the holiday decor and experience overall. The bakery was amazing in the morning! Our only problem was how loud other guests were when we were needing to get sleep. It was incredibly frustrating.

We booked a conference and group rooms, the majority of our team had to wait for their rooms to be available until 5-5:30. The rooms we chose to upgrade were ready even later and there was no where for us to wait as all of the restaurants and bars had hour long waits. A couple of our team members had to have concierge bring up toilet paper as the rooms had none. The staff was apologetic but very busy and unable to help there guests as there were too many people coming in and using the restaurants off the street. We kept being told it was the busiest weekend they have every had but we booked our reservations for everything months in advance and were very unhappy with how long everything took.

My company booked a block of rooms, breakfast, lunch, dinner and boardroom witht he hotel. The boardroom was great, restaurants with reservations were great. Hotel was not good checkin was a mess, portage for gifts was a mess and we pre arranged it.

It was very good, your gold level rooms are very nice and the gold lounge is a good experience. Every staff member we interacted with extremely helpful and friendly. But you need more staff, the check in was a gruelling experience, the valet parking is well below par and effected the trip immensely to the negative. It took multiple requests to to simply get additional blankets to the room. On the second day the room service staff felt they did not need to clean the room until well after 5pm in the evening, leaving my wife to wander the hotel for over an 2 1/2 hours after she requested

Everything with one exception (housekeeping) met or exceeded expectations. Customer Service from the front desk to the Restaurant and Bar staff through the Concierges was phenomenal! The Christmas decorations were really well done and added festive mood to the vibe of the hotel. We had 2 rooms and the attention to detail from or lack there of was demonstrated in both. One room had robes, the other none, but had slippers the first room did not. ONe night we came back to a used pillow case on the floor by a chair in the room. When we gave it to the maid the next morning she said nothing, not even thank you. I know other hotels have housekeeping checklist for each room and that Management inspects/reviews each room each day. Certainty nothing to ruin the trip or make us not come back, just a pint to be noted.

everything was very nice except the entrance was chaos - arrived at rush hour. It was also difficult to get car from valet due to traffic at the side entrance of the hotel.
