The room's overall value just wasn't there. Other than a somewhat quaint room layout, there wasn't anything in the room that was worth more than what is offered at another venue at a third of the cost of this room. The biggest source of dissatisfaction was the significant noise in the building, which kept me awake for most of the night. Calling the front desk three times within about 40 minutes yielded no resolution. Security was dispatched, and they responded with a 'we've checked, but there's nothing we can do' calling card slipped beneath my room door. Upon check-out, I relayed my concerns to the service manager, requesting a full refund due to the sleeplessness, and was told it could only be 20% "because I booked with an outside vendor" (RBC Avion). I was planning further follow-up with managerial staff, but upon checking my points account, the full refund had indeed been applied (hence my '4' instead of a '2').

I wanted to express my extreme gratitude for the care I received from the staff at the Fairmont Royal York. Around noon on Saturday, Dec 6th, I started vomiting with terrible cramping and stomach pains. This continued throughout the afternoon, I was terribly ill. I was also alone, which was scary as at times I thought I may pass out. I was unable to take in any fluids and could barely walk. By 8pm I was still very very sick (lying on the bathroom floor, very weak, and in tears) My Mom advised me to call the front desk to see if there was anything they could do. They said they would send someone up to do a wellness check. Within 5 mins Sebastian Deery (on the security team), came to my room to see how he could help. We decided to call EMT, and he would wait with me until they arrived. For the next 4.5 hours (it took EMT that long to arrive), he stayed with me, and cared for me while I was the sickest I have ever been in my life. Getting me ice, water, cold towels. Putting towels down under my head as I layed on the bathroom floor. Coaching me to breath when I started to hyperventilate at one point. Texting with my mom and partner back home to let them know I was ok and being taken care of. And in the brief moments I wasn't moaning or vomiting, he made me laugh with some of his conversation. And he continued to assure me that I would be ok, and that he was there to help. I truly cannot tell you how grateful I am for his care, compassion and kindness. My mother also is extremely grateful (she emailed and called the Fairmont). Sebastian went above and beyond to ensure I was taken care of. Please make sure this review is shown to the General Manager.

This place has a level of service above all others. Staff are courteous and attentive, very beautiful building with old charm but modern touches. Loved my stay. Pool/gym/hottub/sauna area are very nice. Busy place in December with all the Christmas parties.

Wonderful stay! Beautiful atmosphere in the hotel, so festive and elegant. The staff are all so friendly and polite from the front desk to the servers to house keeping. Food at Reign was fabulous. Nothing negative at all!
