Downgraded -- will never return

Terrible service at check-in booked and paid for a superior room and was downgraded to a regular room without notice. Condescending attitude, asking if I could remember my licence plate. Called to ask about the downgraded room and compensation and was told pets could not be in a superior room and the price would not be adjusted. This was nowhere in the hotel policy and appeared to be made up, since I have stayed in superior rooms at this location with pets. Only acknowledgement of my Gold status were 2 drink vouchers, no welcome amenity or note in the downgraded room.

Stayed on 6th floor, which has been renovated. From the exterior, nice looking hotel, lots of parking, into beautiful lobby with friendly staff, up to 6th floor nice common area, bit cold first 2 days of 5 night stay, then into our beautiful room. Would stay here again, only issue experienced was I don't feel our housekeeper lived up to the rest of our experience at this hotel. Room was so much more comfortable once they turned the hallway heat on. The restaurant off the lobby is really nice, food so good, you can tell it has a good restaurant manager, only complaint here is wine was a bit pricy.
