Good overall but several annoyances. Location is the stand-out feature. Check in was slow and not fully staffed. Management types were standing around, but not opening the 3rd station to check people in. Also, I arrived about and hour early and they took my phone number to notify me when my room was ready - but the he notification came after I'd got tired of waiting and had already checked in sometime after 4pm. The elevators took forever to come during busy times. I think one was out of service since it never seemed to show up. The in-room refrigerator, even when turned up to max cooling, did not get very cold. The chairs in the room were probably two of the most uncomfortable chairs I've ever sat in. Whoever picked them must have an unusual body shape. The lighting in the room was not very bright and some of the switches were hard to find. The TV's operating system was annoyingly slow to respond to inputs from the remote. Hallway noise was very audible. I stayed at the Station Square Sheraton during a visit last summer and I was expecting there to be more of a difference between the two properties than there actually was. I stayed at the Fairmont this time because I had discounts from American Express that didn't apply to the Sheraton. In the future, in absence of any discounts, I will probably choose the Sheraton. The view was great though.

I've let myself cool off a couple days because I'm extremely frustrated with my stay. The room I was given, 1617 was so dusty and dirty it took me 15 mins to clean. Dusty on all surfaces, whiskers in the sink, food residue on the desk, coffee pot and hot water kettle area was very grungy. I booked the Fairmont as a treat and I most definitely will not return. The person who texted me. Rosemary was apologetic, offer a discount of $150 which i declined. I also declined housekeeping (which didn't show up til 5 pm) since, seeing how they cleaned the room to begin with, enough said. The turn down service basically tried to barge in the room, not acceptable. The extremely light knock barely could be heard and half way to the door, they were opening the door til I yelled. For a supposedly 5 star hotel, you need to do better. I stay in Pittsburgh alot, at least once every month so, say 7 or 8 times a year and I can honestly say your hotel has been the worst i have encountered. Finally, the undisclosed hold was exactly that, undisclosed. Quite the surprise when I saw it. Still haven't received that back. Clean better, educate your staff on knocking on the door not just tapping lightly, especially if your guest is hearing impaired because they won't hear it. Respectfully A C D.

Great room and great staff. Disappointing breakfast for room service. The oatmeal was watery and inedible. Massage was great but disappointed that the steam room was not in operation.

Stayed in room 1606 - Plenty of space in the room, just horrible water pressure in the shower and mold along the corners of the shower area which dripped down the tile onto the floor when hit with water.
