The hotel was cold inside and also has taken the 'save the environment' too far. Removing things like tea/coffee facilities from the room, removing bottled water, and also removing things like hair conditioner is going too far. Very bad that the temperature in the room is controlled by the reception. It was 17 degrees in the room when I arrived. The staff were great when asked to increased the temperature (the staff were all very helpful during my stay) but it should not be up to the hotel to decide what temperature it is in my room. So even though the staff were great, I would not choose this hotel again.

Water in room on arrival was an excellent thing

Central - town very walkable and less than ten mins from Trindade metro for airport access. Warm and welcoming staff. Comfortable bed, decent size shower with good water pressure and temperature. Breakfast was pretty basic (only hot offering was scrambled egg which wasn’t very warm). Smallish room with little space around the bed on one side. I was grateful to get a sunny room with a large window as, from the hotel plan and images, some have an attic window or a tiny window. It was adequate but decor was tired and could have done with a good clean in places. Nowhere to put your case and only one surface which was unusable as it was directly under the clothes storage rail.

This was our second year booking at this hotel. From the staff to the rooms and breakfast was amazing! Coffee and tea is available and they are very help with children.

An historic building in an amazing place is NOT enough to be a 3 stars hotel. I'm not publishing the review in consideration for the director as he/she might consider useful the following comments. But please do notice that portuguese clients are really discriminated in your hotel. I don't want to make claims that I cannot prove but I was asked more than once if it was just me and the child. Let us not think about any other kind of discimination quite frequent in portuguese hotels. In accordance with Accor policies I was asked for my grandson indentification by a gentleman, that was not at the reception but passing by, and I only have to thank him for all his professionalism. Dirty tables at the breakast; dirty trays in the clean area; employees with any kind of training and that did not want to do a thing. Just to let you know, NOW the pancakes at IBIS have a ONE centimeter diameter (I have photos)...according to the employees on duty on the Carnival day. It could have stayed as a carnival party if the lady working at that moment hadn't told me, the second time I tried to interact with her - the first she laughed at me and said "ahn"?, that she couldn't see the problem when I told her that she should provide for more pancakes product as I was not her friend, but I was paying for a service. She asked me (and this is a quote) :"What does one thing have to do with the other?". The pancakes were for my brazilian young grandson that just usually loves Ibis because of the pancakes. (As you may understand this was my third breakfast in a row at the hotel and the Sunday pancakes were fresh and amazing). Employees were always complaining that they had already worked enough, not to speak about the posture and lack of hair protection or gloves. Breakfast was a space to forget all along my 3 days there but specially on Tuesday as many of the defronsting rules had not been fulfilled in what concerns the bread and the chaussons ( the Carnival morning) plus the rudeness of employees was really a nightmare. Just to be clear: we do not stay more than 10 minutes in the breakfast room - the oher 3 clients very friendly with the employess were already there and stayed there after we left , and please do notice that we have already been in hotels where for some unfortunate circunstances there were no pancakes. We love the usual Ibis breakast standards. For us it is just breakfast; eggs and pancakes for the kids and bread and butter for me. Moreover, and I would not even mention it if I hadn't felt that the employees do NOT want portuguese clients, at the arriving day I had already felt unconfortable concerning the "upgrade" the recepcionist told me she was offering us; a room with a balcony (in a rainy and cold weekend) but just thought it was a bad choice of words. Moreover I trust Accor for very nice levels of comfort in accordance with the stars...forget about it! With these kind of personel (maybe the fault is Ibis fault that has employees with no training or no will to learn) I will rethink my very long fidelity to the group services. The towels were a 2 stars hotel (and even so very old ones) and on arrival there were no hand towels (I suppose they are due in a 3 stars hotel). One very positive note to the rooms and cleaning team that when asked offered me a new pack with two hand and two shower towels. I asked for them on my second day there, as I usually do not use room cleaning service in short stays. A word of appreciation for a gentleman that was there on our 2 first days (with a brasilian accent-, I'm so sorry now for hadn't asked his name) that could not have been more considerate to our needs and requests (the gel hands and body bottle did not worked on arrival) and he just got us another one while the lady at the reception tried to see how to fix it, what was evident would not work (these kind of materials have a short live so hotels just need to replace the automatic dispensers - bomba peristáltica-quite often with no need to change the botle). If she was considering that I had ruined it myself, 1 minute after arriving, she just had to debit it on may account. One finally note concernign these issues - at Sunday at 8.30 pm the bar room was empty so we asked the personnel to put the tv on sports tv what was nicelly done. The problem was that while being there with my grandson the personnel kept talking loud enough to be heard; no problem there...the problem was that in 2 words one was a "dirty"word even for Oporto levels. Just another aspect is that there was no "food", no hamburguer, no pizza, no nothing to eat the 3 evenings we were there. In reality in two there was no food and on the other the hooven was not working. A last problem (brealfast lady) that I will see if it has to do with the hotel or only with the employee Ms Ana Claudino (I'm not posivite about the lady's name as she only offered it relunctantly - I know that in some hotels it is not mandatory to offer identification so I asked for the manager and I was given a card to contact him/her by email) was quite relevant in the moment we are living in so I'm stating it here. As I questioned the lady if she was understanding what I was asking her (I was really being laughed at)she accused me of being "xenofoba" (xenopfhobia). As the lady hadn't asked me for my nationality and I'm positive I didn' t asked hers, I just asked her if the understood what was being said , I would advise hotels to offer training to their employees concerning these matters. We cannot let anyone - employees or clients - accuse others of wrong behaviours just because they are pointing out - in the case of employees they are not doing their job properly or in our case are treating a client in a rude manner...maybe I should havenot asked for a linguistic misunderstood but just ask for a disciplinary action against her being rude. But this issue must be adressed in another forum as it was a very sensitive issue for an intelligent child. As for Accor the european way of life, and the humanitarian european values are foundational of their project ,and the actual CEOs keep goint there in all the group communication maybe to form the employees, to pay better, to no make them work as we have heard during our stay (2 and a half days in one) will be a way to go...but I also have heard that no one was very keen on going the formation being offered that if I'm not mistaken was in french language.

I did an overnight here and it was everything I needed for a comfortable overnight in the center of the city. I love that it didn’t have those super high neck-breaking pillows and it had a nice bed and bath.

We stayed 3 nights here. Only location was good. Way overpriced for what it was. Check in was bit confusing and they didn’t have actual front desk When we open the room, we noticed lots of dust. Didn’t feel like clean at all. There was switch for the AC(heater) but Can’t control room temperature from your room. You have to request to front desk. Only they can control not even on/off switch. So you have to call them but the phone was very very dirty. There was no fridge in the room. There are 5 windows in the room right next to the beds and at night lots of cold air coming in. Window covers also dirty and not covered well. Daily cleaning, not sure they did clean. Shower was very tight. Overall it was not good.

Everything ok, New Year night 31and 1.01 cost a lot 278 wuth breakfast, parking 42. Room was clean but very basic andsmall no fridge or teapot

It was very tense......the hotel calll itself as pet friendly but does not think in the other guests that does not care for other people pets......we are there to travel ......in the elevator we found pee from dogs , there dog owners in the 2 floor ("the reception") without a leash (trel,a guia), which is against the Portuguese law because the hotel is a public place, not the home of the dog owner; on this day I said to the clerk that the dog di not had a leash and said the Portuguese law does not apply to the hotel!!!!! ; that is an amazing and false answer

Our stay at the ibis Porto Centro Mercado do Bolhão was unfortunately quite dissatisfying. While the front desk staff were extremely friendly and helpful upon arrival, the positive experience ended there. The room itself was not clean, the floor had visible hair and dust, and the bathroom had hair stuck to the walls. The room was also frigidly cold, and we were unable to control the thermostat from inside the room. The bathroom had no ventilation, which caused it to become extremely damp. Upon closer inspection, we found black mold on the ceiling and around the moldings. The hotel provides very thin towels and only a minimal set: two large towels, one hand towel, and one floor towel. Additionally, we were left with no toilet paper. Although we called the front desk, no one ever brought more. The one positive note during our stay was that when we contacted the front desk to adjust the room temperature, the gentleman who assisted us was very helpful and resolved that issue promptly.
