The location of this property is perfect if you want to be close to good shopping, restaurants, markets, tourist booking offices, souvenir shops, and a Spar supermarket which sells hot croissants and bread daily! It is a short taxi ride from Porto railway station. Reception staff were very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble to assist with any of our enquires. Our room was clean, good linen and towels and the bath room and toiletries well provided for. Breakfast was well catered with a good variety to choose from. The hotel is across the road from good markets offering a variety of goods and a comfortable walk to other city shopping. Definitely a well located and comfortable place to stay!

Hotel is in a good location in the centre of town which is good for orientating around the central landMarks. Air conditioner works well in the rooms and the service we received from the staff was both friendly and professional. The breakfast was quite basic, but the coffee was nice. I would definitely recommend this hotel to stay at.

From time of checkin, staff were very pleasant and nothing was too much trouble with any of our queries. Breakfast was good, our room was spacious, very clean with comfortable bed and good linen. Bathroom was very well appointed.

upon arriving in Porto, I’d contracted food poisoning from a visit to Africa making me very very ill. The team at Mercure in Porto made me feel so welcome and looked after, doing everything they could to make me comfortable. The room was fantastic and very comfortable, and the hotel in an easily accessible location. Thank you so much!

Surprisingly decent sized room for this chain of hotel, even had double aspect with great views. Somewhat dated in appearance. Narrow double bed but mattress was good. Stupid bedside lights, no charging sockets. Electric sockets underneath useless bedside shelves. Plenty of storage space – be careful lower right hand side gets very warm because of refrigerator taking up some space. Sadly PAPER CUPS!!!!! in a 4* hotel seems to be normal these days, which is why we ALWAYS take our own ceramic ones. Left the room one morning at 8:30 placing the sign for room to be cleaned on the door handle. Came back at 14:30, yes room NOT cleaned. Went to Reception who said it would be dealt with straight away. HALF AN HOUR later NO ONE came. Partner TOLD Reception they would give us a drink while it was to be cleaned there and then. To add insult to injury we later discovered we were given a voucher that as loyalty members, we should have been given upon arrival. Then on the Friday was woken up at 1am by horrendous EXCESSIVE noises from the street below. Noise decreased about 5 am but we were totally unable to sleep resulting in being very tired all day Saturday. Saturday night we slept with a sleeping pill and ear plugs! So, the level of soundproofing is not what it should be for a hotel of this supposed quality. Oh and of course who could not forget the SUPPOSED blackout curtains! The car Bonnie and Clyde were shot in probably had fewer holes in it. I have numerous emails from the company saying “we are committed to providing a superior guest experience to our customers and we value all your feedback.” So, it will be fascinating to see any response to these comments along the usual lines of “...we are sorry our hotel did not live up to your expectations on this occasion…” On reflection I have stayed in many of the ACCOR chain mainly Ibis Novotel Mecure Adagio Sofitel Pullman and have had poor experiences in most of them overall. I think I will avoid them in the future.
