Disappointing

We chose this hotel because of it’s location and that was a good decision but unfortunately the quality of the hotel was disappointing. On arrival with their driver from the airport we were left standing in reception for some time as no-one showed any interest in checking us in. Eventually we were checked in but no welcome or making us feel valued customers, no explanation of the services offered and I had to ask where the lifts were to get to our room. This is NOT what we expect from a 5* hotel. We really got the impression from the staff around reception that we were an inconvenience - no eye contact, smiles, hellos when passing through for the duration of our stay. Our room had a number of immediate failings in design - very few available plug sockets, weird (wardrobe style) bathroom doors, heavy furniture blocking path around the bed but worst of all was the awful bed. The mattress topper was bunched up in the middle of the bed creating a lump down the middle and the mattress underneath down both sides was sagging and unsupportive showing definite signs of needing replacing. As a result of this we had poor sleep and despite asking for the topper and mattress to be checked and remade up we found no improvement. The cleanliness standards in the bathroom were superficial at best with numerous smears on the wall tiles and various long and curly hairs (we both have short straight hair) lying around. When did the chocolates on the pillow get replaced by chamomile teabags for the turndown service? So, overall Sofitel Libertade was a disappointment and we will not be returning.

disappointing stay

have stayed here before and the suite was excellent but the hotel has had a revamp and the suite was cramped ,no balcony . the wardrobe space very limited and a hanging rail fixed front to back making it difficult to access clothes and in the furthest corner from the bedroom ,no drawer space, dimly lit, and the bathroom door was in 2 halves and difficult to open and close. booked assistance with luggage when leaving but no one turned up at time so had to manhandle 2 large suitcases + 2 hand luggage ourselves down a v, long corridor to lift. Would not return .It is in the ideal place for sightseeing
