Following the previous visit two months earlier to the Novotel Rayong Star Convention Center as a base for attending a motoring event in Pattaya, which we found work well as it was less crowded and hectic we decided to do the same for the same motoring event this weekend. Unlike the long weekend the previous visit the occupancy rate is lower. Check in process was quick and efficient as previous visits, with the same team members upholding the standard of hospitality, and we were promptly given the keycards to our room. Within the hotel we caught up with familiar faces and met the recent new members. As usual we have some of the meals in the hotel from their a la carte menu selection of western, Thai and Chinese dishes, which was done to expectation and taste as usual. The reasonably priced buffet dim sum which was introduced prior to our previous visit appears to be reasonably well supported by the local residents. On Friday and Saturday evenings the hotel now offers a buffet dinner. We went to the one on the Friday evening and the spread and taste overall was good and given their price-point is quite good value, attested to by the high percentage of local resident patronage and some in-house guests, who are offered a 20% discount. However, the menu could be adjusted a little for wider appeal. On the day we went, there was a roast and grilled pork, roast and grilled chicken and grilled and deep-fried fish pieces, and only 2-3 Thai dishes making for a more western skewed spread, given the high mainly Thai diners at the buffet. The Japanese spread is reasonable comprehensive and diners should be able to find the desserts that appeal from the spread. During our stay we caught up with the GM and F & B manager on several occasions and the dialogue exchange and feedback sought makes for interesting and constructive discussions. The team, as usual seek feedback from the guests and diners, such is the pride in their work; keep it up all! Again, a very pleasant stay, made that much better by the dependable and friendly team.
