I have been very happy with all the rooms that I have stayed in lovely and clean comfortable and the best off all was the suite with 2 bed rooms with patio doors opening on to the balcony with lovely furniture and beautiful plants with a city view my grandson loved the buffet i made for us all which was on the balcony because the sun was shining and it was so relaxing after using the pool sauna and jacuzzi we always enjoyed the breakfast plenty of different options and the the staff are very friendly and helpful 😀

It's the first time I been to this hotel and I was impressed with the facilities. But there was several draw backs as well. With no separate bar / restaurant areas, when I went for food in the evening they had a world cup football match on the several tvs with the volume so high it was difficult to speak to staff and I had a headache half way through my meal. The lift needs to be zapped with your key card to access your floor, which is difficult if you are carrying anything in your hands or have luggage. I have an injury to my left foot at the moment and requested a room with a walk in shower, which was amazing, but at the far end of the hotel corridors next to the fire escape doors..... It was a very long walk which wasn't helping my foot any. I spoke to the staff to ask why they had the disability accessibility rooms at the furthest areas of the hotel away from the lifts and they also said it was a stupid thing to have placed them there, but it was the easiest access incase of fire, but since there was a staircase next to the lift it was a bad planning decision on the part of the designers. The reason I was staying in the hotel was that I was booked in for a training course in one of their event rooms the following day. The room itself was large, airy, had fabulous air con and quite comfy chairs. The issue was that there were no toilet facilities on the same floor 😭. So you had to come down either by the stairs or the lift..... Non guests can come down in the lift but not go up unless you ask the reception staff to zap it with their Id cards, so this was very inconvenient and time consuming as if you wanted to go out in the middle of the talk you could potentially take up the 15 minutes to use the loo, missing a chunk of the course information. I think one of the several conference rooms needs to be converted into a disabled toilets which would be unisex and save the journey up and down as it was also taking time from the reception staff to help each of the 16 people on the course. 😒.

The room was comfortable and large which was a real positive. The shower leaked over the floor down to the design of the shower door and there was no dressing gown in the room. I did tell the colleague on reception when I checked out. I didn't overly bother me but the next guest may not be accommodating. Checking in was less positive as initially they couldn't find my booking and then offered me the opportunity to book breakfast when I had booked it as part of the package. The welcome at the Goods Shed both for breakfast and a drink was genuine. I didn't have dinner either evening and didn't get to use the pool or sauna.

We stayed at Novotel Cardiff for two nights to celebrate my husband’s 50th birthday and our wedding anniversary. Having paid just under £400, we expected a much higher standard. The room was tired and in poor condition. The sofa had exposed Velcro where the arm cushions had been removed, which snagged and damaged my dress. I reported it to reception, but there was no apology or empathy. There were also guests nearby playing loud music, which disrupted our stay. Breakfast was very disappointing too – the cooked food was barely warm, the plates were cold, and only the baked beans were hot. The overall hotel looked run down, and the overflowing bins in the car park on both arrival and departure left a poor impression. Overall, this was not the standard we expected from Novotel or for the price we paid. What should have been a special celebration turned into a very disappointing stay.
