I’m glad to hear that you had a friendly welcome from our reception team, enjoyed the food and breakfast, and made good use of the pool facilities. I’m sorry, though, that several aspects of your stay were not up to the standard we aim for. In particular, the issues with the sauna and steam room, the changing room facilities and the costume spinner are certainly not ideal, and I’ll make sure these points are passed on to our maintenance team. I’m also very sorry about the lack of hot water in your shower on Monday morning. I completely understand how frustrating that must have been, especially when you were in a hurry. We will look into this, as hot water is something our guests should be able to rely on. Thank you as well for mentioning the service at the bar and at checkout. Thank you for sharing your feedback. I’m sorry that your arrival wasn’t as smooth as it should have been. Having difficulty locating your booking and then being charged twice for parking is understandably frustrating, and we’ll make sure this is followed up with our reception team. We’re pleased you enjoyed our bar area, although we appreciate the rooms didn’t particularly stand out for you. We also appreciate your comments about our location. We’re a short walk from the heart of Cardiff city centre, which we find gives our guests a nice balance between being close to the main attractions while also benefiting from a little more space, including our good-sized on-site car park. I booked this hotel for one night on a business trip. The hotel had the option of booking parking online which I did for £24.00, when I booked in I queried the parking price as I subsequently learned members pay £16.00 for parking, I was told that as I booked a package I had to pay £24.00? The room smelt musty and stale on entry, I went to open the windows to find that the room was situated directly above the boiler exhaust flues. There was damage to the wall and a wall lamp was hanging off the wall and wasn't working. The sofa bed was in a disgusting state with stains. The washbasin was cracked and block and hairs in the shower. Ordinarily I would have complained in person and ask to be moved but had arrived late on a Sunday evening after driving 200 miles. I emailed the hotel when I got home to complain, and I copied Accor customer care in to the email. Accor emailed to say they took the complaints on board and rest assured that the hotel would be in contact directly to address my concerns. A week later and I haven't heard anything back from the hotel. I would not recommend this hotel.

Overall a great stay. The staff are friendly. The bathroom tap is placed in an odd position. There is no towel rails. I had to ask twice for new towels. On our second day we wanted to relax by the pool. Unfortunately there was baby swimming lessons, which were extremely loud. Maybe an itinerary of activities so guests can avoid the pool at certain times.

No AC and no way to open windows meant it was a stuffy stale room impossible to sleep. Worst of all there was not hot water in the evening or morning. Can’t even provide that absolute basics.

Very comfortable bedding and pillows, storage good. The pool facilities were good, as ever. One small niggle that I forgot to mention when I left - a bedside light in Room 240 was broken.

An easy pleasant and restful night in one of the executive rooms. Very clean & comfortable bed and good sleep quality. Pillows comfy too. One or two comments to help make perfect: no mirror where hairdryer is fixed. Need to review the turned off towel rail, perhaps fit a heat control or mount up on wall to sort this issue? Decaf tea would be great too? But overall always pleased at Novotel Cardiff.

The stay at Novotel Cardiff was overall acceptable but there were several things that worsened the experience. First, the bathroom was clean but really needed some maintance work, several areas were really worn down. However, the room itself was fine. Second, the area around the hotel is not very nice and there are many "interesting" characters roaming around the main road and the supermarket close the hotel. This situation is of course not the hotel's fault. Third, the staff at the restaurant were not very friendly nor service-oriented. Especially one experience stands out. I had forgotten to tell my room number at breakfast the first day and was accosted by a member of staff who very rudely demanded my room number and made me feel very uncomfortable.

I'm pleased to hear that overall your room was comfortable and clean, although I appreciate your comments regarding the condition of the bathroom. We know there are areas where some cosmetic improvements would make a difference and feedback like this is useful as we consider future plans for the hotel. I'm sorry to hear that you didn't feel particularly comfortable with the surrounding area. While this is outside of the hotel's control, we appreciate that everyone's experience and perception of a location can be different. What is particularly disappointing to read, however, is your experience at breakfast. While our team do need to confirm room numbers, this should always be done in a friendly and courteous way. There was dirty stains on the curtains, blood stain on the sofa, unclean bath, no where to hang a coat as they put the coat hook 2 inches to the side of the TV - wish I had booked the Premier Inn - I did expect more as it was Novotel - was disappointed.

The cleanliness concerns you’ve raised regarding the curtains, sofa and bath are particularly disappointing, and certainly not how we want a guest to find their room. We also appreciate your thoughts regarding the room layout and coat hook - sometimes it’s the smaller practical details that can make a difference to the overall experience. Having stayed at other novotels, I was disappointed by this one. Although I appreciate that it is a family friendly hotel I am not sure having the play area actually in the reception area creates the best impression...perhaps there could be some screening? On arrival, there was a trolley of dirty plates/glasses in our hallway. It was still there on our departure. My friend went to refill her water bottle around 10.30pm from the dispenser on our floor. However she was unable to do this as it had a message stating it needed to emptied. She was unable to enter a lower floor so then had to go to reception and was advised to fill it from the gym. At least 2 others had to do the same. The dispenser was still displaying the same message when we left at 10.30am the next day. I think the comms to house keeping may need some improvement?

We appreciate your comments regarding the location of our children's play area. We're proud to be a family friendly hotel and many of our younger guests really enjoy having this space available, though we completely understand that it's position within the lobby may not appeal to everyone. I'm more concerned to hear about the trolley remaining in the corridor for the duration of your stay and the issue with the water dispenser. These are things we should have picked up and resolved much sooner and I'm sorry that your friend had the inconvenience of having to go to the gym to simply refill her water bottle. Your point regarding communication between our teams is a fair one, and we'll be following this up internally. Thank you for bringing these points to our attention. Enjoyed the stay, the room was really clean and bed comfy. The only issue was that the toilet was in what can only be described as as a tiny little cupboard, and to wash your hands you hand to walk round the other side of the room to the bathroom, weird layout.

Great size room. Very comfy bed. Helpful staff, nice bar area. Good choice for buffet breakfast - though tiny plates and mugs. Swimming pool great, very popular so quite busy on the sat I went. Could do with a better locker system - given a lock & key but nowhere to put the key when swimming (suggest put on a rubber wrist band). £16 for 24 hr parking with accor free membership is a gr8 price for the area.
