Rooms had everything you need, iron and kettle. Rooms were stylish and modern. Lovely bathroom. Comfy bed but pillows were not great! Very bumpy. Wall had streaks all over the wall by the bed, needed to be cleaned and wiped down. Lets the upkeep of a nice room down. Lifts stunk of weed. Mercure is good value for money, I’d stay again.

I booked a twin room for one night as we were attending the Welsh Cup Final at Rodney Parade which is roughly a ten minute walk from the hotel. Arrived 2 hours before scheduled check in to see if we could drop some belongings off before the game and the very friendly receptionist happily checked those in for us. We returned later that evening and another equally friendly receptionist completed our check in. The room was 702 which has a great view overlooking the river, it was clean and the beds are comfortable. Neither of us needed to use the ensuite shower during our stay. As it was a Sunday some of the nearby amenities were closed but there are plenty of food outlets and pubs within a short distance. Breakfast was included and a buffet style full English is available which is well cooked and very tasty, there are of course other options. Overall it was a perfect stay and having had the same experience last year I will happily book again.
