This hotel was formerly a park inn hotel and has had a facelift. The lobby is quite tasteful and the rooms are not too bad either but it’s been dressed up cheaply and without correct attention. The noise from other rooms and pipes is terrible. No effort was made in important areas like this. The workmanship in places is poor too. The breakfast and evening meal were a joke. I do understand it’s newly opened and not quite finished and staff have not settled in but it was comical overall. If they had employed a designer with purpose and function rather then making the hotel pretty it would have served them better. If they waited another week so they actually had enough menus and staff not would have helped too. I don’t think we will be back. The price was reasonable but the location offers nothing at all. Ok for a quick business stay maybe.

Overall it was okay..rooms quite spacious..there was a fire alarm at 6am; when I was checking out the manager seems very defensive when I bought it up. Even after I stated I understood the purposes of it. The lady in the dining room her demeanour was quite rude, she seemed annoyed that we were there 30 mins before closing time..her tone was very abrupt, made me feel cautious to ask an questions. Wasn’t very welcoming.

This hotel has been an established venue in North Cardiff however father time had slowly caught up with its interior Now thanks to a simple modernisation he has been vanished and a modern spacious and welcoming venue has arisen in its place Well done Mercure Hotels

Hotel was in the perfect location for me to get to and from work at the hospital and staff were very friendly and helpful. Having said this, the room was quite a disappointment. On arrival, the room was freezing cold and had still not warmed up by the morning, even with the heating on full. The heating system (air-con unit) was also very loud and clunky. There was no iron available and although mentioned to reception, no iron was ever brought up to the room. The TV did not work when i arrived so had to call down to reception to get it sorted and after the first day, my key card did not work so also had to get that reset. Great location but no nicer than any of the cheaper options nearby. Would advise saving some money and looking elsewhere.

Comfortable hotel. It can do with a vending machine as no facilities open when I arrived after 11pm. Concerned about the health and safety of staff. Arrived to see man giving the night porter brief as there was problems with his booking. Having a central area means there was no way to escape which made him extremely flustered. Felt for him.

Really nice hotel bar was a little pricy though but considering how cheap the room was it wasn’t to bad decor was lush could do with a bit better lighting on the dressing table bed was so comfortable staff were friendly except the bar lady trying to flirt with my partner in front of me

To arrive with the main entrance still having building work done in the reception and bar area, it would of been good to have been sent notification prior to arriving giving notice. As this was my first visit to this hotel it wasn't the best experience to see me wanting to return soon. I hope the work gets finished soon so if i ever need to stay in Cardiff again and use the hotel, my stay will be more pleasureable.

The hotel was being refurbished and smelt very strongly of paint. The long corridors to get to my room were very dark and under lit. However the staff were very nice and friendly.

The hotel rooms are large, bright, clean and comfortable. The welcome is great and facilities good. The space for storing in the room is a bit limited because there is only one small drawer and I like to put my stuff away. There is huge amount of work done around but it is not too disruptive. Unfortunately in my case, the bar was closed and my red wine came out of the fridge which is not ideal for a good wine.The restaurant can be a bit slow to take orders and serve but it depend of the days. This should improve when the refitting is done.

Disappointing - no warning of major refurbishment

Hotel public areas under major refurbishment, polythene sheeting, wet paint, looked like a building site. Even on Saturday morning they were painting outside our bedroom and had to walk over loose sheets on carpets in corridors. We ate on Friday evening food was good but drinks VERY overpriced. Just one member of staff running restaurant & bar (which involved leaving area going under plastic sheeting to collect some drinks) her family also seemed there for the evening having drinks etc. on the house. In the morning no one greeted us for breakfast, staff seemed to be helping themselves and eating alongside guests very odd and unprofessional. Bathroom for freezing cold with no obvious source of heating and no useable hanging space as directly over kettle. On a positive note the bed was excellent.

Nice and comfortable sleep in a good sized hotel room for the night. Your reception staff was fantastic. However, noticed tea stain marks on the side tables, an indication that the room may not have been dusted for a while, the extraction unit in bathroom comes on as soon you put you card, it may keep running all night if one does not use the lavatory and turns it off from the wall to serve energy. Lastly, I was surprised that work was going on at the reception and entrance hall to the room without it being mentioned on you website when I made my booking.
