Staff worked really hard to keep an old hotel, working. The public areas are very nice, but the public toilets were often leaking/out of order, but the team tried to keep everything clean. The room was lovely, but dark. The rooms heating system packed up, but I was given a portable radiator which was OK for the size of the room. The window didnt really close properly, The room was clean with the cleaning team that was very friendly and overall good. The bathroom was clean but had black mould on the ceiling, which when reported was cleaned off, that morning. Overall the staff were great, but fighting the building which is old and past it's best, but acceptable for the price I paid.

Check in. Had only booked in one room when I had paid for 2. They did resolve this later in the day. No heating in rooms and it did not work. Complained and it again was resolved when we returned later. Meal in restaurant area- soup was mixed vegetable and had an oil slick on the top, had a peculiar taste and consistency of water. Was also served with toast, not warm bread.! I returned this. My companion had a prawn cocktail also served with toast fingers. Corridors were cold and uninviting. Reception area was good and staff were helpful. We would not stay here again.

I stayed the night before a course being held in the hotel and so it was very convenient. Evening meal in the restaurant was good and the service was friendly. The room was large and very clean and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast was mostly good, although the pancakes were very hard (despite syrup!). Guests also have to pay extra to park.

I thought the wine in the restaurant was a decent price, however I had a steak and it was not worth the £29.75 price tag. The room was decent, clean and comfortable
