Unfortunately this was not a great experience at The Ibis Hotel in Bridgwater

Philip S. Families - Confirmed reviews ALL

I originally booked for 2 nights (29th & 30th April) for a family Golden Wedding. About 10 days before the event we also had to attend a family funeral in Bridgwater. The Hotel signage on arrival to direct us to the Ibis Hotel car park was unclear. After 200+ mile journey down the M6 & M5 I was tired and managed to get into the wrong car park. Signage was non-existent and this needs to be addressed. I was not impressed to receive a phone call and then a 121 message telling me to checkout of our room. I had specifically emailed the Hotel to advise them of this additional booking and to link the two together. I did not want to be locked out or to have to change rooms. On our return to the Hotel on Friday evening I queried the phone call asking us to checkout. I was assured that this had been all sorted. On trying to get into the lift our room key cards had expired, so it was back to reception to sort new key cards out. We then spent the next two days helping family with funeral paperwork, probate applications etc. On Saturday evening on our return to the Hotel nine out of the ten Electric Vehicle Charging Stations were occupied by non-electric cars. After a 20 minute wait one station became free. The non-electric car driver was abusive when challenged about parking in an EV bay, despite the signage. Before the meal a very drunk white male, aged mid twenties pounded and pounded on our hotel room door, twice. He was clearly very lost and staggered off to find his room. The Hotel charge of £39.50 just for parking was an unpleasant surprise & expense that had not been made clear at the time of booking. Our room was not cleaned during our 3 day stay despite pointing this out to the cleaning staff. As we left the hotel early in the morning and returned late at night there was nobody on Reception to point this out to. There was black mold along the top of one wall (Room 217). The meals in the Keepers Restaurant were good and represented good value for money. Wi-Fi was free which too, was welcome. As a long standing ALL member this was a very disappointing experience for us.

Broadly positive experience, comfortable and clean. However, very congested carpark which turned out you needed to pay for (no spoiler alert beforehand). Also overcharged for parking and am still waiting for refund.

The overnight parking fee was only visible on arrival not at point of booking. Aircon didn't work and no instructions on how to use it.

We have stayed here a lot in last few years, dont know if its changed hands but do not think its as good this year, seem to prioritise just eat deliveries than hotel guests, started charging £9 for parking when it was free last year £15 a night for dogs is high I think.
