Great location and communal areas spotless. The pervading smell of urine emanating from the toilet in the room was nauseating. The extractor fan in the water closet didn't work.

We where not fully informed about a few things, ie no bar, room over looking motorway, would have been kept awake with flashing lights. Breakfast promised, but not told it would be continental, no facilities in room to make tea or coffee, extremely small toilet. My over all impression is that I would'nt put the homeless in that hotel. We have USED IBIS before and had much better experience than this particular Hotel.

Unfriendly staff member, unclean bathroom

I have stayed in an Ibis budget before so knew what to expect from the small rooms, that was not the issue, however I wasn't expecting to check in just after 3pm to be told there were no towels or pillow cases as the supplier hadn't arrived. When asked what they were doing about it I was told someone was out to try and get some by the receptionist, who was friendly, she was then joined by a blonde woman who was not helpful at all. When I said well so long as we have them before we go to bed, she shrugged her shoulders and said in a 'I don't really care way' "hopefully". At this point I lost my patience, as someone who has worked in customer service I found her reply appalling, what she should have said in a friendly way is they would do everything they can to make it happen, I told her if we didn't have any I would want a refund for the room. About about an hour later someone came round to drop off the two towels and two pillow cases. It was after this I used the toilet and realised it stunk of urine. On closer inspection I could see what looked like a wet stain around the back of the toilet, I wiped this with toilet paper, it was sticky, dried on and yellow and quite clearly the floor of the toilet had not been mopped. In times such as these you would expect cleaners to be going above and beyond to clean the rooms, so who knows what else hadn't been cleaned.

Great location to break the journey up. Receptionist was very friendly and good at her job. Coffee was awesome and an unexpected bonus. My daughter loves the bunk bed.

Poor breakfast/booking experience

I was disappointed to notice that only on confirmation of the booking and I informed breakfast was a takeaway breakfast. On speaking to the receptionist, there was much confusion and it seemed this only extended to tea and coffee even though my rate included breakfast. Also it appear asylum seekers are living here. I wasn’t very impressed with that and I only stayed the one night out of the two booked as I feared for my safety. I will not stop here again .

Small but comfortable room. Air Conditioning and Shower. Quite narrow beds. Budget facilities at budget price. Towels not exchanged nor bin emptied nor new soaps given for duration of 3-day stay. Wednesday rate more expensive than other days. Does not qualify for Accor Loyalty Points programme.

The Staff are all wonderful, cannot fault any of the staff I met, lovely welcome from reception, Location was fine, nice big car park, However, my main issues are the mattress was very poor, could sleep as it was uncomfortable, The toilet was very low, and the vinyl Style flooring I found very slippery after my shower even having used the shower mat. However, it was very clean, shower was powerful, Bed was nicely made and spotless, all public areas very clean, and for £40 for a night it’s still reasonable value. My mattress had a topper on it, which I’m guessing is an attempt to improve it, had the mattress been better my score would have been higher, Staying in another ibis for next to nights and yes £156 for two nights is a good bit higher but the quality is so much higher, And once again you have the nicest staff.

I loved the bright decor and the staff were very helpful. Clean and well managed given the current covid situation, very reassuring. Nice that coffee and tea available 24/7in the restaurant. . Great shower and lovely lighting in the roo.

Visiting relatives in Newport and IBIS was in a conveneient location- as it is next to motorway I thought there would be a lot of traffic noise but if the room window is kept shut there is no noise from traffic. There is air con in the room so no need to open window. Receptionists could do with customer care training - one stayed on the phone while we were waiting patiently to check in. There was no shower gel or shampoo in room and none available at reception. Beakfast consisted of brown pare bag with a croisant, butter and jam portion with carton of juice and an apple. I would not bother to include breakfast in future.

Considering the price of stay, I was expecting a high standard of stay.. The rooms are below the expected standard. Having the toilet separate from the shower was another problem. No kettle or tea items in rooms

Screaming neighbours at 9/10 o clock at night and weed

Arrived at the room to find it very very small, the toilet was so low to the floor it was difficult to get to! The shower looked nice but as soon as you turn it on it’ll be all over the bed room floor because it was literally in the room with the bed. Bed was old, used and broken, the mattress was very hard with only one pillow each. No plugs near the bed, at this point the only good thing was the tv, finally get into bed only to have upstairs neighbours launch into fully fledged row with a dog whining and banging and slamming. That finally finished to have someone on our floor start smoking weed which starting in the early house and was still there when we left (as soon as possible) at just after 7.

Does what it says in the tin. No frills, no nonsense, just a bed for the night and a bite to eat in the morning. Great value and quiet despite its proximity to the flyover - good sound insulation!

No kettle in the room; control handle for heating had broken off. Strong smell of stale tobacco smoke in non-smoking areas. Absolute minimum of facilities. More like a prison than a hotel. Booking on website failed and I had to telephone to book.
