Covid restrictions apply. Rooms are not cleaned daily however there are shampoo towels etc in reception need anything else ask the receptionest. Breakfast very enjoyable with a large selection. Server seats you and brings your tea/coffee to your table. Everything else is self service. Lovely & quiet overnight even though a road runs right past the hotel. This was our send stay & I will be returning again

Enjoyable stay in a good location for visiting west Somerset and it’s beautiful sites. The hotel was great even though there were some challenges due to staff shortages and current restrictions.

The check in experience was not particularly great. On arrival we were told there was prosecco in the room and that there was no availability for a meal in the restaurant that night. When we got to our room there was no Prosecco so I had to jump through several hoops to obtain this. The head waiter did provide cutlery and plates as requested so I could order a takeaway later. Thankfully the hotel was in a fantastic location so that there were a number of restaurants and takeaways close by. On the positive side I can say the room was well appointed and the bathroom was tastefully furnished. Several human hairs on the bed though was particularly disconcerting. In the morning the breakfast and choice of food was excellent but the fact most people were not wearing masks in and around the breakfast buffet was uncomfortable in the midst of the pandemic even though the staff (who were wearing masks) were doing their best to disinfect tables after guests left. On the whole I would stay at this hotel again in spite of this mixed review and would advise guests to book a table in the restaurant well in advance to avoid disappointment

I am sorry that your experience did not meet your expectations; please allow me to express my sincerest apologies. It would appear that your room allocation was changed and unfortunately when this was done the prosecco was already in the original room and wasn't transferred so sorry about that. I'm sorry that you were unable to book a table in the restaurant, unfortunately we had a staff member sick that we were unable to cover so we had to reduce late / walk-in bookings to ensure we could offer the standard of food we pride ourselves on. Regarding the masks we do invite our guests to wear masks when walking around the hotel and hive signage to this effect throughout the hotel, unfortunately we seem to be fighting an ever greater battle as many people are becoming more and more relaxed as time passes. But rest assured we will continue to do as much as we can. We appreciate your sharing your concerns, and it is our hope that you will give us the opportunity to better serve you in the near future. Cannot fault hotel standard and location, however one of the reasons for selecting this hotel was the Pierre White restaurant. On arrival we were informed there was a staff/chef shortage and we were unable to book a table during our 3 night stay. We thought we could have been informed of this situation beforehand thus allowing us to have been able to book before our arrival.

Chose Bridgewater over Bath with an excellent deal of B & B; parking was included which was a bonus. Relaxing & stylish bar and varied breakfast. Staff were all friendly and courteous and helpful and their follow-up service helped me without fuss or bother. Rooms were well furnished and spacious & bathrooms were stylish and we'll fitted. Our recommendation will be to stay again

Room was very nice and also clean. Receptionist on arrival was poor. She was on her personal mobile phone and I had to wait at least five minutes for her to finish her call. I was given incorrect or confusing information about the breakfast arrangements with reference to booking at time slot. When I arrived at breakfast the next morning they knew nothing about it and it was help yourself breakfast as normal all different to the receptionist explanation. At least my breakfast wasn't charged which again I am sure was as a result of the receptionist error. Also, disappointing that the restaurant was full and no room service so no food at all that evening. Managed to walk into town and to eat somewhere. Would have booked in advance if I had known. Full marks to the breakfast staff especially the chef who offered to cook a fresh egg for me. If it wasn't for that would have given a lower rating.

I am shocked to hear that a member of staff was on their personal phone rather than checking a guest in, please rest assured I will investigate with the team to see what has happened. We do use mobile phone to communicate within the building and a number of our systems run off them so I would hope this was the case however it shouldn't have taken that long to acknowledge you. Whatever the reason they were using the phone I apologise that you were kept waiting and thank you for brining it to my attention so I can investigate and ensure this doesn't happen in the future. Sorry if there was confusion regarding the breakfast, we have had the same process for some weeks now, (namely a buffet with booked time slots for arrival) so I'm not sure why there would be any confusion, I can see breakfast was not added to your account so it would appear the Receptions was under the impression you hadn't decided if you were going to dine. Sorry for the confusion and any misunderstanding. At Mercure, we strive to provide a superior service experience for every customer and I'm sorry that on this occasion we have fallen short of our own high standards. Please rest assured that we are taking the appropriate measures to address the problem and prevent future occurrence, I hope this does not put you off using the hotel in the future. Sincerely,

We had a great 3 night stay earlier this week. We arrived to a friendly, very efficient welcome at reception. Our room was beautifully air conditioned which was very welcome after our journey and traffic jam on the M5! The room was good with all we’d anticipated and fabulous rain water shower! We had a lovely stay, explored the local area and amenities. We wouldn’t hesitate to stay at the hotel again if in the local area. Another very good stay at a Mercure hotel! Thank you!

We had a one night stay with 3 course dinner and breakfast included, a bottle of Prosecco in the fridge was also complimentary, a lovely touch! Our room was spotless with a very comfy bed, the shower was excellent too. The food was of a very high standard with excellent service by all the staff. Would definitely stay again.

Hotel rooms were nice and clean, restaurant Manager appalling! when checking in myself and an older colleague approaching 70 was informed by your checking in staff to book our evening meal with the restaurant, after 4.5 hours driving we wanted to get change and have dinner and relax that evening so we were refreshed for our conference the next morning, We made our way as informed to the restaurant straight away and asked the Manager can we reserve dinner that evening, the reply we got was rude and abrupt not what you would expect from front of house service! The reply was “We're fully booked"! And then walked away and left us standing there shocked that a he didn’t want to suggest where we can eat, no apology, nothing, there was no eye contact, we was directed by your receptionist to book a meal, he was damn rude, that’s the only way we can put it! He could have fit us in the restaurant or the bar then as only 1 person in the restaurant and was empty for another 40 minutes!!! We sat at the bar to have a glass of wine, the bar manager was more friendly who tried to help by suggesting somewhere to eat as being out the area was concerned walking at night in an area we didn’t know. We did however find a lovely Italian restaurant who mentioned that others have mentioned how rude your Manager is! So there is your local reputation... I did mention to the receptionist on his rude mannerand was no response, just got “Oh, sorry” not helpful at all. We decided to have a drink at the bar, however while we were sat at the bar another couple came to reserve a table, Manager said more friendly this time so something must of been said! "sorry we are booked up tonight", not sure what was said however he fitted them in straight away , another 20 minutes down the line another couple tried to reserve a table and was also informed fully booked, they obviously picked up a fuss , they went away and then came back with a Manager who then fitted them in, all this time we were sitting at the bar, restaurant Manager kept looking over to see if we had noticed, of course we did, we are business people and not going to create a scene - I spend a lot of money each year hiring hotels for conferences for my company's, I am use to a lot of hotels but in 27 years running business’s I have never been met with how rude your restaurant Manager was, this shocked me, I will never stop this hotel again! Your restaurant Manager is a disgrace; if it wasn’t for him we may have had a decent stay -Rosey Wasn’t, Manager Director we booked last minute (day before)-I do not want any vouchers, this is simply our feedback that you asked for...

We have had some staffing issues in the kitchen that have caused us to drastically reduce the number of covers we can serve and we are having to manage walk-in or late bookings around the kitchens ability to serve the covers around those who are due to arrive or are already dining. This in no way justifies the way you were made to feel by the person you spoke to so please rest assured I will be investigating who was involved with the team and the appropriate action will be taken. We were disappointed with the location and with Bridgewater. It was not a pleasant place to walk certainly at night. The hotel was very well appointed and the room was excellent. Also the staff were very pleasant and helpful. We were disappointed we could only book in the restaurant one night at 5.30 pm. The meal was fine but expensive. Also we found the drinks expensive. We would have probably spent time in the bar if had been a little more reasonable. It was difficult to find places to eat certainly within walking distance.
