I was disappointed as the hotel didn’t live up to my expections. My main concern was the position of my room on the first floor and lack of privacy. I understand that work was taking place on the exterior of the hotel but there was a scaffold platform immediately outside my bedroom window which I found most disconcerting as I worried that someone would be able to look in and also this hotel is very close to an office block across a pedestrianised street which is quite narrow and I was very conscience that people using the staircase in that building would be able to look across into my room. There were no net curtain on the window which meant I was not comfortable having the curtains open. I didn’t have my room serviced every day but it seemed that it was not the practice of the staff to remove used dirty cups and glasses and replace with clean ones. Reception were made aware of this as I went to the restaurant to find some clean ones myself. The cooked breakfast was good, however, the continental was disappointing with only some sliced cheese, ham, tomato and cucumber on offer along with the croissants. There were no bread rolls (sliced bread was available) only baguettes which you helped yourself to but no serviettes/cloth was made available nearby to use to lessen any chance of contamination from hands of people slicing off a piece of baguette and placing the end back for someone else to have. The staff I had dealings with were all good and helpful but my stay here was disappointing.

Firstly there is a trip hazard immediately outside the front door. Secondly the predominant black paint in the reception makes the place unwelcoming and thirdly we tried 3 rooms, two were mouldy and dirty and someone had smoked in the third. Dreadful.

Chose this hotel because of it's value for money and it's location. Have also stayed before. However I was disappointed. The staff seemed busy and distracted when I arrived. Also I was aware of the building work but wasn't informed that I wouldn't be able to see out the hotel window as plastic sheeting covered it.

Really well located for the city centre and train station. Bars and places to eat in the immediate local area.
