We booked the hotel primarily due to its great location at Avenida Liberdade. Reception messed up with a wrong room key, letting us to carry our luggage back to the lobby to clear things out. Although hotel gave us a better on the same floor, the bad taste could not be erased. The vanity design was a joke. The one bright spot was that the bed was super comfy!

Underwhelmed. We arrived late evening; there was no warm verbal greeting welcoming a diamond member, no mention of a room upgrade, I had to ask about validating drink certificates l, etc. NO concierge available until after 3 pm the following day. Apparently that was the new rule imposed as the hotel was closing for renovation at the end of October. No concierge meant we asked door man, and front desk for directions, restaurant suggestions, etc. who were hesitant to help and hoped we’d wait until the concierge was around. This was really poorly managed aspect of a brand such as Sofitel, which I always consider a reliable business hotel. While this was a partial holiday usual business issues back in Canada needed to be addressed. Your small business centre lacked privacy and good internet and I didn’t feel safe going down to it at 22:00 to do some work. In my room there was no real desk (just an oblong table with lounge chair, no task lighting in the room for work to be done in the late evening. Surprised by this given it’s supposed to be a reliable business hotel. The food was good for breakfast. Restaurant (breakfast) and bar staff were excellent - attentive and remembered our preferences after just one breakfast or drink order.

Warm welcome, friendly efficient staff, comfortable rooms and bed, great walk in shower. Well located in the centre of the main avenue and out of the way of the bustle. Designer shops plentiful all around.

Loved the location of the hotel. However, we found out that it is a place to stay for those coming and leaving on cruise ships so the hotel was far too busy, the staff was overwhelmed and understaffed resulting in long wait times for the simplest things. Hot breakfast items were all cold for 4 straight days. Very disappointing.

From the moment we were greeted upon our arrival by Bruno and George at the front door and continuing with the entire Sofitel staff, including the chambermaids, the bartenders, the front desk personnel, the concierge services, and the restaurant staff, my husband and I felt welcomed and valued. The hotel is lovely with modern and sophisticated decor, good facilities and an excellent location. The bed was so comfortable! Slept really well. Although shower is long and narrow, water pressure was great and I love both an overhead and handheld shower head. Plush big towels. Room is compact but they’ve done a good job fitting in all necessary amenities. My only reason for not giving it a higher rating is the staff. Not one exuded any warmth or friendliness, engaged in conversation, or went out of their way to be helpful. Didn’t get greeted when I would walk into the hotel. As a single woman traveling. That would have been nice. Staff were profesional and did their job duties but just that. I put sign out saying I didn’t need service and my room was serviced anyway. Not welcomed as an Accor member. Just a bit cold.
