Location good , bed comfy, parking off site was told to park in a car park sand return stub to have parking reduced. We parked then found it to be an automated car park. We went back to the Sebel and same customer person said we went to wrong car park operated by same company. He did not care. I said you need a printed form to show customer.

If you've ever stayed at a generic, sterile mid-tier chain hotel and thought, “geez, this place just isn’t homogeneous enough!” then The Sebel Canberra Civic is the hotel for you. Located in the heart of our fair nation’s capital, The Sebel Canberra Civic has all the style and flair to match Canberra itself (voted the 84th most exciting world capital in 2025, just behind Chișinău). This hotel has absolutely zero redeeming features (wifi, check; bed, check; bathroom, check), but dozens of minor inconveniences that snowball into a loving tribute to the enshittification of everything. Highlights include: Two (2) lighting settings: Off, and Hospital Operating Theatre No on-site parking (enjoy your three-block stroll through the truly soulless and desolate Canberra Centre — the Champs-Élysées of the South) A front desk with a permanent line of interstate public servants and overpaid consultants, but seemingly only one attendant No way to request a late checkout. Im not even kidding, phone in room was broken, and I spent 30 mins on hold trying to call reception to request a late checkout. Didn't even get through in the end, I just decided to cut my losses and leave at the standard check out time and do a couple hours work from a suburban mcdonalds The room itself is… fine. The bed is comfortable. I had a “courtyard view”, which means if you wake up with sudden amnesia you’ll have a delightful time trying to figure out where you are. Is it Canberra? Birmingham? Düsseldorf? Or a Matrix-style simulation of a hotel room? Who knows! What fun. Overall, The Sebel Canberra Civic is the most average hotel I’ve ever stayed at — a triumph of mediocrity in a city that truly understands the concept.

Being a diamond member, I got checked in by a person who seemed not interested being there. No greetings or welcome on arrival. Bad customer service from this one person that ruined my stay.
