The hotel is situated on the edge of the main centre, short walking distance from the crucible (15mins ish) which is what we were there for. Didn't try the breakfast unfortunately as it was always quite busy when I fancied it. Members of my party felt the odd member of staff struggled to get a drinks order right - not a major issue but was difficult to give a very basic order. Staff on the whole were helpful and polite. Rooms are small with very limited seating options, clean , very basic, but then, it is a budget hotel.

Accor Membership: 30…7B12 Dear Sir/Madam, I am writing to complain about the bad night's sleep and stay that we had recently at your hotel. I spoke with a member of staff about this during our stay, and she said that the General Manager was away, so I would have to email, and gave me your details. Me and my fiancee stayed at the Ibis Budget Sheffield St Mary's Gate for one night on Saturday 18th April 2026. We checked in early. Upon entering our room, we realised we only had two pillows between us, rather than two pillows each. We asked for more at reception, and were told that there were no extra pillows in the whole hotel. The pillows in our room were really small and flat, and not comfortable. The main problem however was that the air con in the room (Room 624) was broken. We only ever stay in hotels that are listed as having working air conditioning, which this hotel is. We could not sleep because the room was stiflingly hot, being on the top floor of the hotel on what was a sunny warm weekend. It was a long night and despite getting up repeatedly to try and get the air con working, it kept displaying an error code - please see the attached image. We reported this to the colleague on reception, and requested a refund as we did not sleep much or well at all. Your colleague has flagged the error on the system, but said that you would sort the refund portion of our query. We have stayed with you before in this same hotel and had a pleasant experience, as well as having stayed in a number of other Ibis and Accor group owned hotels across the country. I am a member and it is a brand I look out for when planning a night stay. We await your response for next steps. Kind regards, Dylan W.
