Well .. the TV would only work if you was stood in front of it. The door to the spa was blocked. The stair lift to the spa didn't work n we are disabled... But the staff was wonderful and can't fault them.. they did everything they could to help and make our stay a wonderful experience

Having recently stayed at the Mercure Sheffield Kenwood Hall & Spa, we received a very warm welcome on arrival from Lisa at the front desk. She communicated all the information about our stay clearly and efficiently, leaving us feeling very satisfied with the check-in experience. However, upon entering our room on the second floor, we were somewhat disappointed. Although it was clean and fresh, it felt quite dated. Being situated below outside ground level meant it lacked natural light, and we were surprised to find only two lamps in the main area and no ceiling light. This made getting ready the following morning quite difficult—particularly for my partner applying makeup, who had to use another guest’s room with better natural light. The bathroom also had some issues. The shower was positioned awkwardly off-centre, requiring you to lean against the handrail to shower properly. Additionally, the toilet paper was extremely thin, which felt like an unnecessary compromise on comfort. Our experience at the spa was also underwhelming. On arrival, the reception desk was unattended, and after a five-minute wait we asked a passing maintenance engineer to find a staff member. While we understand staff may be busy, it was concerning that the pool area was monitored by CCTV rather than a lifeguard, with the feed displayed behind the unmanned desk, which didn’t inspire much confidence. In the gents’ changing room, there were very few locker keys available—I was only able to secure one from another guest who was leaving. The pool and gym areas themselves felt quite dated, and the staircase leading down added to an overall impression of being less clean, even if it wasn’t actually dirty. On a more positive note, breakfast was very good. There was a great selection of both hot and cold options, along with a dedicated gluten-free area. Staff were also happy to provide freshly prepared items to avoid cross-contamination, which is excellent service for those with dietary requirements. Overall, the front-of-house team are a real credit and deliver excellent service. Unfortunately, the facilities themselves do not quite match that standard.

Had a spacious room, with surprise acknowledgement of our wedding anniversary which was wonderful. Staff all welcoming and friendly. Pool facility good. Parking bit tight (size of spaces and number of spaces). We had an older room but with excellent rate and spacious. Grounds around the pond could do with some TLC.

We attended for a wedding and it was really disappointing that those being housed there by sheffield council were in and out of the venue smoking outside and causing trouble with the wedding party. Feel that the bride and groom should have been informed the hotel was being used for this purpose. And they could have been put in the opposite side of the hotel away from the function rooms. It made no sense at all and make things feel quite unsafe. The rooms were also quite dated, taps were sticking and shower pressure was awful. Also lots of noise on the first night from the staff moving tables in the room underneath where we were staying. Also the pool and spa facilities were dreadful. The pool looked a merky green colour and the hot tub wasnt working. We walked in took one look of the place and walked out. The venue rooms in the original hall (cutlers) are beautiful there is no question. The original features have been preserved beautifully. Also the staff at the hotel are great, the wedding team were also amazing.
