Awful. Wondered whether to write a review but we gave them plenty of chances to try and fix things that went wrong and I would want to know before booking somewhere. Completely dated and the hot water runs out brown at first which is disgusting and an issue in all our rooms. Flushing the toilet resulted in disgusting drain smells. Real lack of attention to detail and necessities - carpet needing vacuuming , hairs and stains on clean towels (stains you’d rather not have for the price), empty toiletries on arrival, dirty drawers and shelves, lampshades, all edges of furniture including the desk and dust and cobwebs on top of the curtains that looked like it had been there for months. The armchairs were not cleaned underneath cushions or in the crevices (not nit picking, it was really obvious) and again, looked like old dust collections and stains. It’s an old building but none of the windows closed properly and we didn’t want outside cigarette smoke. It was impossible to alter the radiator in the room (we didn’t want it on and couldn’t turn it off completely. Staff not helpful when we asked) bad sleep due to noise from other rooms (and outside due to the windows often staff smoking and swearing/shouting about their jobs) Parking feels far from the hotel with luggage and a lot of selfish parking which we worked out were mainly staff. Bad attitude of staff also who smoke at the front of the entrance. If you want to use the spa facilities, book a day and stay somewhere else. I would never stay in the hotel again. Trying to pretend to be green but saving costs on cleaners. It’s common practice in other hotels too but the rooms weren’t clean to begin with and the corridors people often left rubbish due to bins not being emptied and often left for hours. Externally not accessible for wheelchair users but as most guests will have suitcases, poor planning of the placement of chairs in the reception and should be reviewed. Save your money, a travelodge would have been better. Finally, uncomfortable mattress which based on the rest of the room it may have been just as old

Lovely staff, beautiful comfy room and the food was great. Was lovely to see a wedding party and the room was set up beautifully. We would definitely visit again as we didn't get chance to use the spa . There was a lovely little lake within the grounds that feels very tranquil

Relaxing & peaceful

We come here regularly now,it's such a lovely place, the staff are amazing and do everything they can to meet people's needs! I myself find it relaxing whilst I'm recovering from chemotherapy as I have cancer, the staff have gone beyond helpful, especially Lisa! We're hoping to get a garden suite next time as my auntie who is in her 70,s is coming with us. I'm already looking forward to that & we've only been home a few hours! See you very soon!! Thanks so much! Rachel & Margaret 😊

Dear Rachel and Margaret, Thank you so much for your lovely review, we really do appreciate it and I am so pleased that you continue to return and that Lisa has especially left a lasting impression on your visits. I am so sorry to hear what you are going through and would always encourage contacting me directly before your next stay so that I can ensure you're allocated your requested rooms. Take care. Nice facilities but absolutely filthy!

Positives: The hotel is well located, offers big rooms and good facilities and food was ok. Staff are friendly too Negatives: Absolutely filthy. The carpets need replacing, the place needs some tlc, and the swimming pool needs a good scrub. Shame as this hotel has such incredible potential.

Thank you for your review. Dated, yes. Filthy, no. I fully appreciate that we may be dated in some parts and we are currently in the process of refurbishing a number of our bedrooms and public areas so I hope that we have the opportunity in welcoming you back again soon. We pride ourselves on great guest service, in an establishment full of character. Our cleanliness standards are extremely important to us and our Head Housekeeper, Lynsey really does an amazing job in ensuring that our standards are continually met. Kind Regards, Dan Wilson Regional General Manager

A Happy anniversary!

Yesterday we booked into this hotel using a gift voucher bought for us to celebrate our 45th wedding anniversary. We had looked at many reviews, some critical, but many very positive. Bit of a nightmare journey motorway wise, and negotiating Sheffield city centre but that was forgotten the moment we arrived to check in! The receptionist Lisa was efficient and very helpful, and cheerful ( a big plus, I am a people person!) We told her why we were staying, and unbeknown to us she made a real effort to make our stay special. When we went up to dinner our table had been set with candles, rose petals and a bottle of bubbly on ice And a hand written card!! ..We are no longer 'young romantics' but we were both gobsmacked and very appreciative of this thoughtful gesture!! The two guys working the bar and waiting our table Gabe and Mobin were brilliant too. ...As for the hotel itself...our room was fine ( but the loo moved when sitting on it!) it was very peaceful and we had the best hotel breakfast I've had in a long time...lots of choice and HOT! So we leave having enjoyed our special day there due to their effort and commitment ..Thank you guys!! ...we would definitely return and recommend it!

Thank you so much for taking the time in sharing your experiences and for choosing Kenwood Hall to celebrate such a wonderful occasion! I am so pleased that you enjoyed your visit and the team looked after you so well - I loved the photo! We very much look forward to welcoming you back again soon. Kind Regards, Dan Wilson Regional General Manager
