Reception looked very nice though the main sofa had had its cover removed and replaced by a sheet. Rooms were clean but wood chip on the wall, v dated generally and separate toilet without a sink from the bathroom. 3 times the price of the travelodge and not further the extra in my opinion

Really enjoyed my stay. Clean room and good breakfast. I thought that parking was expensive though. Most hotels I stay at offer free parking.

I stayed for one night in a very comfortable double room. The check in and out process was very quick and easy. The room was clean and tidy and a very comfy bed. As it was a warm day I had the window open and at night time there was a fair bit of noise coming from the area below, however, if you're looking for silence, rest assured once I closed the window the noise could hardly be heard at all.

Very disappointing

Not great best part was the heated pool! Hotel needs updating. Room was a nice size but terrible sewerage smell from drains. Drip from toilet you could hear all night. Receptionists friendly and good with children. Breakfast was the worst I’ve ever had! Cold cooked breakfast hard bacon over heated to death! Even given cold toast. I couldn’t eat it was disgusting. When I complained at breakfast and when I checked out there was no effort at all to provide me with anything hot or to offer to discount it. Just that the message will be passed on to chef. It’s such a shame because the location was good. I stayed there about 8 years ago and it was a very different experience. Thankful it was only one night and won’t be staying there again. I do not recommend.

Great location and a good stay overall

The hotel is really is easy to find and has parking (only 50 spaces so I’m guessing in ‘normal times’ this would fill pretty quickly.) The room was spacious and clean though we did have to ask for the kids bed to be put up and towels to be delivered. As a few reviews mention the flush on the toilet wasn’t great but I suspect that’s something to do with reopening and water pressure. The pool was fab and being able to book it in advance was a real bonus as we arrived quite late in the afternoon and the kids loved it. The receptionist and the lady serving at the bar were fantastic - again due to the current climate they appeared to be basically doing a huge amount as they were so understaffed. It didn’t affect our stay at all, they were great, but I really felt for them as they just didn’t stop multi tasking! We didn’t eat at the hotel as we had booked elsewhere to meet friends, but the bar was well stocked and it was nice to see it busier on our return that evening. We’d stay here again and it was really lovely to be out staying elsewhere.

The hotel was understaffed - the staff that were on were run ragged, and could not do enough for you. Consequently, there was a wait at check in time, even though we did it online. Also they ran out of some beverages at the bar. (Not great forward planning for a bank holiday.) The rooms were great. We loved using the pool, but on the first day we booked a slot and were assured it had been cleaned and that there were fresh towels in there. There were not any towels, and someone previous to us had left rubbish in the pool area, and the cloakrooms (a half empty bottle of water, some wrappers and their dirty towels.) The second time we went swimming the following morning, it was fine.

Staffing Issue

We always stay at Novotel when visiting Sheffield and really like this hotel. Unfortunately, this wasn't a great experience. The hotel seemed to be under-staffed. The bar staff in particular were doing an amazing job but were completely overwhelmed with their workload. Apparently they hadn't had a break during their 11 hour shift. Although we paid for an executive room, we didn't have water placed in the room and had to ask for it. I really don't see how Covid could impact on having these placed in the room. Pillows are usually there if you require another one but again we had to ask. Breakfast was absolutely terrible. It is usually a very high standard. There was very little choice and the cooked food was over-cooked and not appealing at all. We stayed for two nights and both mornings were the same. The dining room sittings were chaotic as our name wasn't down for the time we had booked and this didn't just happen to us. It is not clear where to collect different items of breakfast from. There wasn't any coffee available. The rug as you walk in is a trip accident waiting to happen. I understand that times are different, but there is clearly a staffing issue. I definitely won't return until everything is back to 'normal'. The place looks a little tired and could do with a refresh.

It has been very uncertain times in the industry over the past year, and for my team, and we have been longing to welcome guests back into our hotel, so we are genuinely sorry that you left feeling disappointed. The hotel could have provided some bedroom slippers and bathrobes for the comfort of their guest. Furthermore there was no offer of help to carry bags for 2 women to load into the called taxi. Lucky the taxi driver was helpful. Pod serviced in the car area was average with limited choice.

Very surprised by this hotel. Location, facilities, Bar food, pool, rooms all great. Staff 1st Class. I know where we are staying next visit. Booked it early and was worried it may be a bit downmarket. Wrong !! Not sure what Star category it is but certainly better than a lot of 4 Start places. Outstanding, and very reccomended.

This hotel was in a nice location for the city centre and overall was good value for money. The room was a little basic. It reminded me of staying in Spain with the Aircon and the decor. The toilet placement was just weird and just seemed detached from the rest of the room. It worked though so all good 😄. The TV in the room was too large. Typically this was probably because they think bigger is better but a TV to suit the size of the room would be good. I'm just picking out little things but all in all this is worth the money so go for it
