As a Sheffielder who now lives elsewhere I love the central location and feel safe. The hotel rooms are very tired. A coat of paint would certainly improve things. The outise area could do with a sweep and clean. Thete does seem to be a shortage of staff which can't make things easy.

Pool makes the stay drop from a 7/8 to a 3/4

Will not be coming again. Although staff were very friendly and bar/food was nice. The pool made my whole experience drop scores. The pool was extremely hot meaning within 5 minutes we had to get out because we was sweating in the pool. And having the sauna in the exact same room as the pool didn’t help the pool in or out because of the temperature. If it wasn’t for the pool We would be rating the stay 7/8 but after witnessing the pool no higher than a 3

This was our third time staying at this hotel. It was not as enjoyable as our previous two stays. The bedroom and en-suite was starting to look shabby, not what you’d expect from a 4* hotel. Also, we had intended to have breakfast at the hotel, but cancelled once we were informed we could only stay for a maximum of 45 minutes. We normally like to take our time over breakfast during our weekend stay away. Using the time to plan our day while taking breaks between the items on offer. The rigid 45 minute time slot with time chosen by staff, not us went against the whole philosophy of a luxury weekend away. We were told this was because of the size of the restaurant, but we’d never found it a problem before and it certainly wouldn’t have been a problem on the Monday morning when we peeped in on our way out for breakfast elsewhere as there wasn’t a single person having breakfast! I was also disappointed to find that the restaurant was closed at all times other than breakfast with the only meal option being in the bar. Again, not what you’d expect from a 4* hotel. The outside area was also very in inviting. This hotel is in serious need of refurbishment. If the size of the restaurant is a problem then it should be extended out into the courtyard and designed to make the most of the way of the Winter Gardens next door. (Something the neighbouring hotel has done successfully).

I was in the accessible room due to a disability however, there was no shower instead there was a bath that was inaccessible.

Well to start on first night my children bed was broken in the middle of the night, and also we book this hotel for swimming pool for 2 night, we was told that no one is allowed to swim. I will give an advice please let your customer know if you are having any issues with swimming pool because the reason we decided to go that hotel was because of your leisure facility to entertain children

Stayed here for one night. I was kindly given a room upgrade. Staff worked hard to make my stay a success. I'd definitely recommend the hotel to others. So close to the station and the town centre. Rooms are very clean.

A Really Good Location.

This hotel is in a really good location, near the train station and the town centre, though a lot of construction going on. A couple of things disappointed me about the room. First and foremost, the toilet was separate to the bathroom. Not a fan of these arrangements. Also flushing was a bit of a problem, but we learned the technique. 3 quick flushes to make it flush, lol. Crazy. The cups in the room were cardboard, with cardboard stirrers. We had to ask for more of these. The staff seemed helpful and efficient. Overall a good base for us. Down the hill to the station to train to the Peak District. Very handy.

The cardboard cups were in place in line with covid recommendations and precautions, with the lifting of these restrictions we have now gone back to providing the proper cups in line with our standards. The hotel could have provided some bedroom slippers and bathrobes for the comfort of their guest. Furthermore there was no offer of help to carry bags for 2 women to load into the called taxi. Lucky the taxi driver was helpful. Pod serviced in the car area was average with limited choice.

Very surprised by this hotel. Location, facilities, Bar food, pool, rooms all great. Staff 1st Class. I know where we are staying next visit. Booked it early and was worried it may be a bit downmarket. Wrong !! Not sure what Star category it is but certainly better than a lot of 4 Start places. Outstanding, and very reccomended.
