We chose this hotel because of its central location and good indoor and outdoor car park. It is a dog friendly hotel and when we stayed during the holidays children could stay free. The room was fine and I was very pleased there was a bath and a shower. I enjoyed the pool but it is quite small.

We paid over £300 for a package in a suite. We were supposed to get breakfast brought to the room, late checkout and champagne and chocolates. Upon checking in we were told we can’t have late check out because the hotel is full the next day. No chocolate or champagne in the room. And they never brought breakfast the morning after! The staff member who checked us in was extremely rude even though I explained over and over again what I’d paid for she seemed bored and just kept repeating its not available unless I come down early morning and ask to see if I can have the late checkout?! Anyway after complaining they brought us a bottle of champagne and a box of Poundland chocolates up. Bath was had black mould around taps. We used pool and took our robes down to the pool with us, brought both robes back up and left on the bed when we checked out. Later that day got a phone call accusing us of stealing one robe, I told her it was with the other dirty towels on the bed she said she’d get housekeeping to check again. Guessing they found it as they didn’t ring again. If you book this hotel book a basic room as it’s a basic hotel, don’t expect luxury.

Pool was cold, breakfast was not great very little hot food went up twice never any eggs or other things. You say your a cashless hotel and only take card but you need a £1 coin for a locker so not cashless didn’t have any coins so had to take everything pool side didn’t say in long as it was so cold

Luke Friends - Confirmed reviews ALL

Calling the hotel to warn them of our 2am arrival was a frustration with the person not really listening to us. Asked if we can have 3 people in the room which has a double bed and a sofa bed and they said it was fine. When checked-in, they decided it was not fine so had to pay an extra £75! Our friend was due to get picked up by dad in a couple of hours so was going to stay in our room. Never using Novotel again.

Town was busy and it was hard to get a room. We ended up with the accessible double room number 521. Shower was awful as the screen didn't keep the water in the shower tray. The floor of the shower room didn't have a drain and the tiles were slippy when wet. The water even went as far as the carpet in the bedroom. The door that separates the bedroom from the shower room is totally unacceptible. The handle is too near the edge of the door frame so your fingers get trapped when closing the door. The alarm went off in the middle of the night and in the morning we discovered that we lost power to all light switches and the water was only luke warm. We reported the power issue and door handle to reception when we booked out. Apparently there had been a power surge in the night.
