We loved the central location, and that the city city was a few minutes walk away. We found the room we stayed in was quiet; comfortable and clean. We liked that we could make fresh pancakes for breakfast.

the room had a huge tv, lovely big firm bed. Bathroom could do with some attention as most fittings were loose and the towel rail would slide off. The shower its self had black marks on the sealant and edges with to me is off-putting and no way could i relax and have a bath in there. The price i paid it was a good room and i would stay again if its the same price if it's not i would look to another close by to try as Novotel is the only hotel in Sheffield i have tried.

Both my wife and I stayed over for a night in a standard room and upon booking in were given a complementary drinks voucher as it was my birthday which was a very nice touch. We have come to sheffield for the last couple of years and this was the first time here. Very central relaxed atmosphere and very friendly. Room was standard but very comfortable. Would we come back. Yes very much so.

booked this hotel on hotels .com for a short break between Christmas and new year we have been here about ten times over the years its always a nice stay here the pool steam room is clean and so is the rooms the staff are friendly the beer is nice and not to expensive the breakfast is buffet style which is all you can eat lovely a must stay for me and ill be going back soon

Good but tv in the room was not letting me play Netflix

Indoor pool was wonderful- really warm! That and the steam room were a great way to unwind after day at work. Food was good and overall it was great short stay, would choose same again.

This hotel was in a nice location for the city centre and overall was good value for money. The room was a little basic. It reminded me of staying in Spain with the Aircon and the decor. The toilet placement was just weird and just seemed detached from the rest of the room. It worked though so all good 😄. The TV in the room was too large. Typically this was probably because they think bigger is better but a TV to suit the size of the room would be good. I'm just picking out little things but all in all this is worth the money so go for it

Staff were courteous and friendly. Parking costs weren't super clear on the booking site I used. It was unclear how to connect your device to the TV - tried but it didn't give any options really. Pool and fitness area looked nice, was a little too tired to make most of. Bed comfy, room very clean. Bath towels are very small, meal in the restaurant was ok, chicken a little overcooked. The location is fantastic and the hotel is very stylish overall

Will not consider again with poor experience and lazy staff

Stayed for 2 nights (29-31 Dec). Did not enjoy at all! First impression when entering hotel: the first floor reception/ restaurant area were flooded with the chlorine smell due to the swimming pool being located at entrance area. Was not too bother at first as I wanted to swim anyway, but when realised even having a pint at bar still felt like sitting in the pool, it put me off, the chlorine scent was too much for me. For the pool, clearly the staff do not care the guest experience and safety, a no diving sign has been put up at the pool and 2-3 kids were diving and splashing at pool and disturbing other guests using it. I complained to reception and they came once while kids were still diving into water, and soon as staff walked out, 4-5 dives launched again so all other guests left the swimming pool. I have approached the receptionist again and tell them it’s their responsibility to keep guests safe as well as avoid disturbing other guests. She didn’t seem to care and stated a staff will look at cctv from back office. But after she said that, I saw there were multiple divings at the pool and the staffs had no intention of stopping them. The staffs were extremely unprofessional and lazy and didn’t really care about safety to guests, not to mention health and safety issues when running a hotel business. Upon checking in, I then realised Novotel no longer provide bottle water in room. I consider myself as a frequent traveler and stayed in various hotel 1-2 night per week. I would expect water even in some 3 stars hotels, having Novotel changing its policy will certainly make me consider another brand as a basic refreshment is important to me at check-in. If Novotel has confirmed no bottle water will be provided, I am glad to explore alternative options. Worst of all, I have been told by the evening shift receptionist on 29th Dec 2019 there was no dental kit for this 4 stars hotel as it ran out. The receptionist expected me to go out at supermarket round the corner and buy it myself. I was not very convinced that a 4 stars Novotel did not make preparations the dental kit for restocking dental kits when they are about to run out. Surely the GM has not check or prep the maintenance team who had failed to maintain the basic standard equipment. Rather disappointed. But in the morning at 7am 30th Dec 2019 when the shift had changed, while I was asking for shaving kit and I tried my luck with the Dental kit, it was indeed available! I am unsure if there are delivery in the evening to before 7am for this sort of supplies but it felt like I have been lied to by a lazy receptionist who cannot be bothered to go fetch the items from the back office. And I felt very bad if a hotel staff have lied to me and got me to buy extra tooth brush and toothpaste for my family in the middle of the night due to her laziness. Totally unacceptable! The sleep was extremely bad as the wc cistern was dripping all night long and I didn’t have a decent sleep at all with the repeating noise. The bedroom door acoustic treatment was exceptionally poor, people going down the corridor can be heard clearly in the room, it was a very rough 2 night for staying in this Novotel. This hotel can’t even provide the basic for guest, I will certainly not consider coming back and will be doubtful staying in other Novotel from now onwards if this is the brand standard. The sofa-bed was extremely uncomfortable too. It was made up for my child but she mentioned that the AC wind draft blowing directly onto her and she was cold so I swapped bed with her. Not only the wind blowing was extremely uncomfortable for me (what sort of design is that?), the bed mattress was very unpleasant. Even if it was meant for a child, I wouldn’t want to subject my beloved one to such specifications with such awful nights of sleep. I had a back and neck pain after sleeping in this sofa-bed. It’s extremely unsupported and flimsy. I approached the receptionist at lobby on 30th Dec 2019, just before heading out to town. To my surprise, she didn’t know what a ‘mini cab’ and she didn’t know if the taxi or mini cab in Sheffield are charged by meter or fixed price. We wanted to go to Weston Park Museum, the receptionist was not sure where that was (may be this museum is not as well known in Sheffield for a receptionist working in a hotel not to know of its existence) and with the supposedly 8 min journey she told me it would take 1 hour 49 min to reach by car. Also, after I requested 4 time for her to help call the taxi, she still ignored/ refused to call for me so I ended up searching with my mobile and calling myself. And this is the 4 stars hotel I have encountered. Novotel can consider putting a sign at reception and state ‘google yourself’ for a cost effective solution, it will save guests wasting 15min trying to ask as I would have gotten the answer quicker if I search online rather than relying on the 4 star services. I noticed there are other hotel options within the area, would certainly consider alternatives based on the standard I have encountered in Novotel Sheffield.

I have investigated all of your comments and am satisfied that regarding the pool and all other health and safety matters we are fully compliant and maintain the hotel to a very high standard. Our duty manager was on site and investigated the other guests in the pool who were accompanied by parents and complying to the rules outlined in the pool area.We do indeed provide dental kits at reception when the housekeeping team have left for the day and also we book taxis for our guests using a local company, I can only assume that there was confusion with comminication as on talking to the team the wait for the taxi was the information communicated and not the length of time to get to your destination. It was very centrally situated so I could pop in and out to the shops, cinema and places to eat, and for a good price, with gym and spa, I was very satisfied. The room was clean, extremely well presented with all amenities, spacious and very quiet. The staff were very helpful and easy to get on with, being on my own I felt very much at home here. I would definitely recommend this to my family and friends.
