The communal area's, bar and restaurant were modern, airey with good seating and lighting. Staff were lovely and accommodating but the rooms themselves were dated. The separate toilet with wood chip painted wall paper doesnt compare to the other areas of the hotel. The bed and pillows werent particularly comfortable either and for a city centre hotel there was no air con. There was a fridge which I couldnt work out how to turn on to put my cold drinks in, so they went warm. The bathroom was sufficient, but the shower wasnt great, I am quite tall and nearly hit my head on the waterfall shower head as the tray is raised so high. Water was nice and hot in the shower but there was NO hot water in the sink.

Stay was fine, but rooms are desperate for an upgrade. Disappointed that despite booking a reasonable period in advance there was no room upgrade as a gold member. The check in staff should explain if one hasn’t been possible. It’s one of the few good aspects of membership.

I am a Diamond Accor member so stay with the brand a lot. Sadly this Novotel only seems to be getting worse. The rooms are horribly tired and have no air-con and the heating seems to be stuck on. What I can say is that the staff are delightful and need to be applauded.

A calm oasis in a busy weekend! Lovely if small pool. Nice to have one available. Good buffet breakfast and friendly staff. A bit disappointed with the wine list in the bar, and the beds in the twin room could have been a bit wider and further apart. But otherwise a really good stay and I look forward to coming back!
