Overall, I don’t believe your property is fit-for-purpose. It’s certainly not a Mercure nor should it be part of a global hospitality offering, like Accor. I’m sure you are aware of the social issues outside of your property (this is a tough one to sort, but you have to work with the local authority and law enforcement to fix it). The people that were hanging out, outside of the property made us feel particularly unsafe on a number of occasions yesterday. Not least when one gentleman threaten to stab the other. And they have clearly urinated against the building. There is filth and stains everywhere and eggs have been pelted against the side, closed door. The steps are also filthy and broken. Upon entering the hotel, there is a deep and sickening smell of damp. This continues to the first, second and parts of the third floor. This is clearly a big issue, and particularly dangerous for everyone’s health, given that damp can be airborne spores and would be very unwelcome for people with respiratory issues. I don’t believe you should remain open whilst you have this issue. I have to say, it was the worst first impression I have ever had of a hotel. The check in was disappointing, the team member looked unkempt with an untucked shirt and a cba attitude. Check-out was the same; your colleagues didn’t follow their training and didn’t enquire to the success of our stay, again gave off a cba attitude. They were too busy reconciling card transactions it would seem. The poor welcome continued to the damp-smelling bar area, and as you smell damp you mind infers that the furniture feels wet from the damp. An awful offering. Then, the toilets on the ground floor were an absolute disgrace. They were filthy and felt like a squat where people take drugs. Noting they had not been checked on the 14th. However, I can’t believe they have been properly cleaned in months. The plinth to the base of sink units appeared to be impacted by rodents, given the fragments of the unit on the floor. Our room was odd to say the least, overall it was incredibly old fashioned/dated; and not as advertised. The bed was tiny, it definitely wasn’t the king-size I booked and it looked awful having a headboard that was too big for the bed. The floor aggressively squeaked. The shampoo was empty in the shower and the sanitary bags were not replenished. The toilet was also very blocked, which led to us using the lobby bathrooms in the morning. Very, very poor.
