It was a comfortable and convenient stay, with meals had at the restaurant and a good location for having driven a long way to visit the Yorkshire Sculpture Park. The staff were very nice and we were very grateful that the hotel was dog-friendly. However the hotel felt a bit stripped back - as if it had been less basic in the past (eg. our room had a cabinet that looked like it had housed a mini fridge previously but was now just empty, there was no safe, the carpet was a little stained, and the oldest part of the hotel, with its lovely beams etc, felt like it was telling of more splendid times?). The second day we were there there were so many guests at the hotel that it felt a bit overwhelmed. Check-in was friendly but pretty basic, with no info given other than the key being handed out (nicely), so I had to go ask lots of things at reception that evening. Oh and I am really not interested in advance online check-in at all, so I didn’t do that and personally I want a prompt and warm greeting from a person for check in and don’t want to have had to spend time online faffing around beforehand (I spend enough time online and on computers as it is!). There were also a few things in the room that were off or missing: the bathroom had no toilet brush and had cheap toilet roll, there was no dog water bowl (which I know is not a given but seems strange seeing as the booking was for a pet to be with us), there was no hotel info booklet (so we had to guess at breakfast times, Wi-Fi codes, pool usage etc), and the bedroom had a mattress that had chunky zips protruding and also strangely wired/connected and mismatching lighting with a large number and variety of switches on the headboard. Hopefully this feedback is helpful, as we did have a nice stay, but it felt like it could be better.

Travelled as adults and a 6 year old. Allocated room that absolutely stank of stale cigarettes, so much so our belongings & bed sheets (including my son’s pyjamas) took in the smell. Reported immediately, no other rooms available. Didn’t check in until 10pm and had no other choice than to stay in the room. Multiple emails sent to hotel management have subsequently been ignored. Now escalating to Accor directly.

No air conditionning and no possibility to open Windows = no sleep !!!!. I had to open the door onto the corridor to let some air in, so I couldn’t sleep. After a draught had come in, I slept on the floor on top of the duvet so I could be close to the window. Horrible! The worst night ever!! There was a fan, but it made an insane amount of noise.

To clarify, our hotel does not advertise air conditioning as a facility, and we appreciate that during the heatwaves that we have experienced this summer so far in particular, some guests may find their rooms warmer than they would like. In relation to the windows, all bedrooms located above ground floor are fitted with window restrictors in accordance with health and safety regulations. These restrictors are in place to help ensure the safety of our guests and cannot be removed. Ground floor rooms are the only exception. Each bedroom is equipped with a fan to help improve air circulation. We are sorry to hear that you found the fan provided to be noisy, and we will ensure it is checked by our maintenance team. Whilst we regret that your stay did not meet your expectations, we hope this explanation provides some context regarding the facilities available and the safety measures that are in place throughout the hotel. We had a pleasant stay overall. The hotel was comfortable and had a welcoming atmosphere, and the staff were all friendly, helpful, and made us feel well looked after. The only downside was that the rooms are looking quite tired and could really benefit from a refurbishment. A fresh, more modern décor would make a big difference and bring them up to standard expected. Despite that, we enjoyed our stay and would happily consider returning.

Upon checking in, I was very disappointed with the cleanliness of the room. There was vomit left dripping down the toilet bowl, foundation on the toilet seat, and a significant build-up of dust on the desk. Overall, the room was extremely dirty and clearly had not been cleaned to an acceptable standard. I had booked one of the hotel's top-tier rooms, so I expected a much higher level of cleanliness and attention to detail. Unfortunately, this was far below expectations, and based on my experience, I would not recommend staying here.

Booked a 2 night spa stay. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Decor in rooms and corridors was tired and uninspiring (carpets pulled in places, scuffed furniture in room). Spa facilities were ok but let down by ripped/split/stained cushions on poolside furniture, missing tiles in swimming pool and inefficient cleaning (empty plastic bottles and paper cups under loungers 3 days running - visible from the pool, but not obvious from above - would indicate that no deep cleaning of the poolside area is happening. ) Food menu was also uninspiring. Overall, a disappointing stay.
