We were touring mainly, so basically were out all day. Did not use any of the facilities offered.

GOOD: Double glazing on windows, complimentary laundry for guests, beds comfortable, housekeeping staff friendly and efficient. Brilliant location if you are attending Royal North Shore Hospital. Complimentary morning shuttle to nearby train/metro locations is also a great idea as the walk to St Leonards/Crows Nest could be challenging for older or unwell people. FRONT DESK STAFF: All were friendly and tried to be helpful. Reception printed out cricket tickets for us early in the stay and provided us with free water on the final day when it was very hot and we were waiting for an Uber. However, we asked for coffee mugs for the room twice (there were none even though coffee/tea was provided) and in the end bought our own takeaway cups for coffee. We arranged a 12PM checkout with reception however housekeeping was unaware of this and the front desk then rang me to confirm - clearly my initial request had not been recorded anywhere. Staff were also not sure of cafe opening times when we asked on several occasions so i'm gathering the cafe is outsourced and not part of Mercure. COULD IMPROVE: shower very small, no microwave or other cooking facilities in room (even though their were clearly double powerpoints in the wall at some stage), Fridge provided very small - needs to be bigger, Cafe hours very sporadic (stayed 1-8 January) meaning we had to eat out a lot. Given there was no facilities in the room, this actually cost us money (restaurants etc). Parking on site was secure but $25 per day is more expensive than other parking options nearby ($17 a day advertised 1 block away). Should look at a discounted rate for hotel guests. OVERALL: We enjoyed our stay and would probably look here again but some small tweaks could make this a really good hotel rather than an average one.
