The location is great. Everything else needs improvement. The apartment- spacious but old and tired. The furniture needs updating, particularly the lounge which I covered with a sheet so I could sit on it. Super uncomfortable for a 2 week stay. The kitchen is not stocked and the oven was dirty, I couldn’t cook in there. The staff- hit and miss. One lady was great, but the rest were not. Lack of interest, wrong info- one wanted to charge us $80 to service the room and told us rooms don’t get serviced despite us staying for 2 weeks? No staff on duty when we arrived. Check in process a disgrace for an Accor hotel.

Had just arrived back from Japan. Inability access the lobby after hours. Phone number labelled didn’t work. Call centre unhelpful. Part hotel part residential. Rooms mixed. Room not representative of the photos. Bathroom was not cleaned well. Not worth Aud275.

The booking in at 5pm was clunky and disjointed, not staff available to check in, phone operator was very generic and had little ability to answer local questions eg parking etc. It would also seem that the cleanliness of the room has dropped, there was no recognition of Accor status, with little knowledge of the staff that turned up Monday morning e.g.: welcome drinks of the tier, no knowledge how to bill utilising Reward Points. We will be seriously considering not stopping at the Sebel in the future after our last experience.

Our experience at The Sebel Chatswood was extremely disappointing and not at all representative of a 4.5‑star property, nor of what is depicted on the hotel’s website. On arrival, the reception desk was unattended, with no staff member available to assist us or provide access to the car park. After a prolonged wait, a staff member eventually appeared; however, the interaction was unpleasant and unwelcoming. Despite being an Accor member, there was no acknowledgment of membership or any attempt to provide even a basic level of customer service. The so‑called “welcome drinks” were handled poorly, with bottles of ginger beer simply slammed onto the desk without explanation or courtesy — a gesture that felt dismissive rather than welcoming. The room itself was grossly disappointing. It was unkempt, dishevelled, and had an unpleasant smell. Furnishings and fittings were dated and tired, and the condition of the room was completely unrepresentative of the photos displayed on the website. Overall, the accommodation fell well short of the quality and standard expected of a Sebel‑branded hotel. To add further disappointment, the pool and spa were closed, with notification provided only the day before arrival — particularly frustrating given that these facilities were a key reason for choosing this hotel, as actively promoted on your website. Overall, this stay fell significantly short of expectations and the Sebel brand promise. Poor service, lack of professionalism, misleading presentation, and substandard accommodation made for a very disappointing experience.
