I chose this hotel knowing the interior is quite dark. The photos online reflect that accurately, so I’m not complaining about the aesthetic itself. The design is actually really nice and the room was clean and well-maintained. However, the overall stay just wasn’t comfortable for several reasons. The biggest issue for me was the lighting. Since everything is already dark, I really wish the room offered better, adjustable lighting. It’s almost impossible to do your makeup in the bathroom because the light there is extremely poor. On top of that, the bathroom has a mouldy ceiling, no window and no ventilation, so it has a very unpleasant smell that doesn’t go away. Because the furniture is all black, dust becomes visible instantly, which makes the room look less clean even though I’m sure it actually was. When I turned on the small lamp in the evening, I could literally see dust floating in the air around me, which didn’t create a very pleasant feeling. Another big downside is the noise. The walls are extremely thin and the room doors are unbelievably heavy. It’s hard to close them gently, so every time someone on the floor entered or left their room, the door would slam loudly and the whole corridor would shake. I woke up several times during the night because of this, and it honestly felt like someone was walking into my room. I can’t even blame the guests, as the doors are simply built that way. On a positive note, the staff were very kind during the short interactions I had with them, and they responded quickly to my email afterwards. Breakfast was also surprisingly good for a small hotel - tasty food and a nice selection. The only thing I didn’t love was that the plates are placed on the tables in advance, so by the time you sit down, they already have dust on them. For a buffet, I would really prefer clean plates placed next to the food instead. In the end, even though there were some nice aspects, the stay was not comfortable overall, and unfortunately, I wouldn’t return or recommend the hotel.

+ : swift check-in, friendly staff, nice room with good beds, nice rainshower with very good water pressure. - : very dirty curtains in the room, no heating in the room except the airconditioning that blew warm air but it didn't heat the room properly, no slippers in the room, no free bottles of water in the room (I got some for free thanks to my Accor membership).

Very poor cleaning and administrative aspects. From the moment I arrived, I had several issues: (1) One day I asked the cleaning staff to clean the room, and they said they wouldn't because it was clean. However, I had to ask reception to at least vacuum the room because I'm asthmatic. (2) I asked for sheets to be changed after three nights, and also because my roommate was sharing the room, but they didn't change them. They did so on the fourth day. (3) I asked if I had already paid for everything, and the manager told me I hadn't paid the tourist tax. I said I would pay for four nights now, and my roommate would pay for three nights upon departure. At checkout, he said I had already paid for everything when I booked, and he refunded it to my Wise card. (4) At checkout, the manager said I hadn't paid for breakfast. I had to go back to the room to get the reservation paperwork, and when I returned, he said it was in the system. He didn't even apologize for the improper charge. (5) One night, we found vomit in the elevator entrance. In the following days, the smell persisted, meaning the cleaning was very poor. But there were very few employees committed to helping with whatever was needed.

We had a good time at Le Marin. The hotel is conveniently located nearby the Central Station (walking distance), the staff is welcoming and the room was clean and had the necessary amenities. Good value for the money.
