A Pleasant Stay in an Excellent Location

A nice hotel in a great location. Check-in was smooth, and the staff throughout our stay were very friendly and helpful. We didn’t have breakfast included, but the surrounding area offered plenty of good alternatives. The room was average in size, with fittings exactly what you’d expect for this type of hotel. Although my room was directly opposite the lift, I didn’t hear any noise at all during my stay. The bathroom was a good size, and the shower worked well. My only real negative was the lack of tea/coffee and ironing facilities in the room. I tried calling reception, but the phone didn’t work, so I had to go downstairs. I was given everything there and had to carry it all back up to my room. When I asked why there wasn’t enough tea equipment, I was told there weren’t enough for all rooms—which did make me wonder why more hadn’t been provided. The hotel also didn’t have milk, so I had to use creamer. That said, I would happily stay at this hotel again—next time I’ll just bring my own milk sachets. I appreciate this is a minor issue in the context of the overall stay, but in my opinion, it’s the little things that allows a hotel to get a 5-star reviews.

The Ibis in Rotterdam is placed in a spectacular location on a resplendent canal! The reception is well layed out and designed with bars, cafe and comfortable seating! The room is fairly basic without a fridge or tea and coffee making facilities which I found challenging, but the bed was very cosy! The TV had many channels which enabled me to watch the Australian Open tennis, albeit with Dutch commentary! Overall, the experience was basic but pleasant!

We really enjoyed our stay, the room was clean and the staff were very welcoming and lovely. It’s a brilliant location and very quiet. A few small things would’ve improved our experience. We weren’t able to open our curtains because we were overlooked by a car park, some kind of sheer curtain to let light in but give more privacy would’ve been great. It was also a little difficult to warm the room up. We were disappointed to have to pay to leave luggage at the hotel for a few hours before our journey home.

- Lobby is ok but rooms are not clean (1st floor); disappointing - The light switch even has made some bizarre noise - Toilet and carpet especially not clean - Honestly feel like even Ibis Budget is better than this one - No Kettle / tea / coffee - not sure if it is the usual practice in Europe - Staff is quite nice though
