Hotel is on the Bankstown sports club site, and being from the UK do not get the club Membership, which means i get ripped off at every outlet at the club, staff at the club are a nightmare, faces like slapped back sides (with 1 or 2 exceptions, mainly from UK staff once they realise where i am from) - Hotel staff on the other hand were amazingly helpful and friendly - Hotel room has an ad joining door so can hear everything next door, and i mean everything, and can smell whatever it is they are cooking in there - disgusting!! Hotel looks tired and unkept and thought it was back to COVID times given the lack of toilet role available

At the same time, we are sorry to learn that other aspects of your experience did not meet expectations. We understand your frustration regarding the Sports Club membership arrangements. Currently, overseas visitors are not eligible for club membership, which can affect pricing at the club outlets, and we appreciate that this may be disappointing for international guests. We also sincerely apologise for the discomfort caused by noise and cooking odours travelling through the interconnecting room door, as well as your concerns regarding the overall presentation and upkeep of the hotel. In addition, we regret the inconvenience caused by the insufficient toilet paper provided in the room. Your comments have been shared with the relevant housekeeping and maintenance teams for review and follow-up. My room had the following issues: the shower had long dark hair on the floor & the tiles were dirty. The mirror had an offensive message on it that became evident when fogged up, the cutlery in the drawer was not clean, the entry down light flickered after being turned on & the seal on the sink plug had perished so far that it was non existent. The staff were apologetic & when discussed with the day manager, a refund of sorts was discussed. This ended up only being 10%, which was paltry considering the issues in the room. I will never stay at the Mercure Sydney Bankstown ever again & will think twice about ever staying in a Mercure hotel.

I feel that the safety of an open staircase to the ground floor is an essential requirement.As a former occupational health and safety officer,the fact that it was not,I found completely unacceptable.I was informed several times,by other hotel guests,that your lift inactivity was a long standing issue and given that I could not access the exterior of the building by stair,I find that completely at odds with building safety codes.I would like to think this would be addressed as soon as possible.

The fire stairs are only allowed to be opened on the lowest floor of the building as per safety standards - they should not be allowed to open to other floors. Unfortunately we did have an issue with one of the hotel lifts and it was placed out of order, however it was now been fixed.
