Recently I stayed in the Mercure Fribourg Centre Remparts. It is an excellent hotel, with beautiful and very comfortable rooms. But, I am furious, since the hotel suggest that they have a restaurant. It is announced at the reception and in the elevators. But when I asked where I could find the restaurant I was told, there is none, there is a catering possibility. This misleading and highly discomfortable suggestion results in a low appreciation of the hotel.

We did note your frustration regarding the mention of our “restaurant.” To clarify, we do offer a service of meals prepared by a caterer and delivered every two days, ensuring freshness and quality. Your hotel is lovely, in a great location with exceptional staff. However, during both nights I woke up with bites on my skim around my stomach. Initially I thought that they were maybe marks from my clothes - but on returning hom my doctor has confirmed that they are insect bites - so I suspect that you need to treat the bedding in room 209 for bugs.

Dear Mercure Fribourg Management, I am writing to express my disappointment regarding my recent stay at your hotel. As a Platinum member of your loyalty program, I usually appreciate the warm welcome and high standards maintained by Accor properties. Unfortunately, my experience at Mercure Fribourg did not reflect those standards. Upon arrival, I was assigned what was meant to be an upgraded room, but it had a strong and unpleasant odor, reminiscent of sewage and dampness. When I reported this issue to the front desk, the receptionist chose to accompany me to the room to check for himself. Once there, he stated that “it smells like this everywhere in the hotel,” which is clearly not true. After returning to the reception, he hesitated to reassign me, explaining that the hotel was almost full and that changing rooms would mean losing the upgraded category. I told him I did not mind, as long as the new room was clean and comfortable. Unfortunately, the new room also had issues — I found a large hair in the sink, which was very disappointing. When I inquired about the possibility of a late checkout, I was told to check with the following day’s staff, which made it impossible to rest properly. Additionally, the air conditioning was not functioning, leaving the room at an uncomfortable 25°C throughout the night. The pillows were extremely hard, further reducing comfort and rest quality. Overall, this stay fell far below the level of service and quality expected, especially for a loyal Accor Platinum guest. I kindly ask that you review this matter and consider a gesture of goodwill or suitable compensation for the multiple inconveniences experienced. Thank you for your understanding and attention.
