The hotel applied their own change fees so they won 100 dollars more on the exchange from CHF to dollars. I was not informed by that during my pay at the reception. In the receipt it is written that I agree to their own exchange fee (where they take that huge commission). This was not informed orally and because of the note on the receipt I can't contest the price now after noticing this. This is a very shady business practice, taking 100 dollars more to clients... Would not recommend this hotel. Or be careful and ask to pay in CHF and let your own bank apply change fees.

During the payment process at check-in, the payment terminal automatically offers international cardholders the choice of paying either in Swiss Francs (CHF) or in their home currency. This choice is made directly by the cardholder on the payment terminal. The exchange rate and any additional conversion fees related to payments in a foreign currency are determined by the payment provider and the card issuer, not by Novotel Bern Expo. For this reason, we generally recommend selecting payment in the local currency (CHF), as this often results in more favorable conditions from the guest's bank. We regret any misunderstanding regarding this process and apologize if the available options were not sufficiently clear at the time of payment. Thank you again for your feedback. No room service was provided. No tea sachets were there in the room. Even for water we had to collect from the reception. Absolutely bad experience.

This allows our guests to refill their bottles while helping us reduce single-use plastic waste. We were also concerned to read your comments regarding the tea and coffee amenities. These are available in all our rooms, and we sincerely apologize if they were not replenished by our housekeeping team during your stay.
