This hotel is located nicely outside of the center of Bern but still easily accessible by tram. Unfortunately, we didn't know that the public transport fare will be included in the stay so we'd already bought the daily tickets. Nevertheless, a nice complement. The room itself was of a decent size and well furnished. We especially liked the breakfast buffet in the morning. The parking cost us 22 CHF per night if I recall correctly.

The staff are so helpful and friendly at this hotel. It's in a great location for easy access into the the city centre and it's helpfully at the end of the circular walk from town to the rose garden. Our rooms were clean and comfortable. We appreciated being able to watch a bit of TV in English at the end of a long day. The breakfast is the only element which is slightly lacking. The decor in the communal areas is slightly industrial and the breakfast area is a bit cramped.

We chose Novotel Bern based on great past experiences during work trips, and my husband felt the same way — plus the AC was a big draw for a summer stay. This time, though, a few things let it down. The bathroom door was hard to open and close, seemingly due to rough, unfinished wood along the edge. The AC struggled to cool below 18°C and took a long time to get there, which was surprising for this brand. The sofa bed in our room also took up most of the floor space — a proper single bed would have worked much better for our son. On our last day, housekeeping left cleaning supplies on the sofa and didn't return to collect them. We still think well of Novotel overall, but this particular property needs some attention to keep up the standard we've come to expect.

We had a great stay for five nights. The room was clean and tidy, although it was a bit smaller than we had expected.There are two negative points I would like to highlight. The first was our breakfast experience. On our first morning, we arrived at the breakfast area at around 9:45 a.m. because we had checked in late the previous night and were quite tired. Unfortunately, the breakfast staff did not allow even a minute of flexibility. At exactly 10:00 a.m., they closed the coffee machine and cleared everything away, so we couldn’t even get a cup of tea or hot water. I understand that breakfast hours need to be followed, but a little flexibility in special situations would have been appreciated and would not have made a significant difference. I usually prefer staying at Novotel when I travel with my family because of the value and comfort it offers. However, this incident left me feeling disappointed and unhappy. The second issue was the parking. The parking spaces are extremely narrow, making it difficult to park comfortably between cars.
