A dream stay

We had the most wonderful experience and stay at the V Villas. The amenities at the resort from the spa, gym, and dining (specifically the rooftop Akoya Star Lounge) were second to none. We had an ocean view villa with views you could dream about forever. Traveled with our 4 year old daughter who was able to participate in a painting activity and bracelet making which essentially became a private experience for her. She loved it. Special thanks to Taya, our butler during the stay. She was attentive, detailed, and came thru with every request we made. From arranging car for the day, local dining recommendations, boat/charter options, messaged and arranged rapidly. The golf carts on property make moving around seamless (Alan was the kindest!) This was truly a luxury experience that felt remote but was quick travel to any sites in Phuket or even nearby islands.

Toilet maintenance needs improvement

This is the first time in my life where we were told it was our mistake to flush toilet paper down the toilet bowl. (No other phuket hotels or villas we stayed at before had this issue) Day 1 - Villa 14 (hill view) - Toilet bowl flooded and overflowed after usage per usual. Dirty water overflowed onto bathroom floor. - Called butler and maintenance. Both said our flushing of toilet paper down the toilet bowl caused this. so essentially if you stay in this villa, you will have to throw your used toilet paper into the trash bin and leave it there until housekeeping does your room the next day. Highly unpleasant - Staff said thailand water rationing caused the suction pressure of toilet bowl to be low. it turned out to be rubbish because the toilet bowl in Villa 3 worked perfectly fine. - Japanese toilet bowl with bidet. Luxury touch but highly impractical. - we could not stay in this villa anymore. Request to change room was met with resistance by butler who said no other room was available. - Eventually after speaking to front desk manager, we were allowed to switch to a sea-view villa for that night, with the caveat that we shift back to a different hill-view villa the next day even though it was a hotel maintenance issue with the toilet bowls. VIlla 3 (sea-view villa) - toilet bowl worked perfectly well per expected, no issues. Our conclusion - Hill view villas being the best value for money, are well booked and utilized, but can tell that toilet bowl is in need of upgrade. Be careful if you are assigned with Villa 14. What was good - Front desk manager Gobie service and attitude was excellent, in trying to resolve the issue for us Restaurant service staff all very good and courteous BBQ dinner buffet on Thurs night superb spread In summary, we will not stay here again. We had a fear of using the bathroom for the next 2 days. At the price of USD 780/night, we can easily find another resort with villas that are just as new, similar view, where you can use the toilet bowl without fear of clogging, overflow, or subsequent finger pointing as to whose fault it was.
