Bed was uncomfortable, the light wall behind the bed was noisy, air con was broken, and the rooms were so noisy from traffic, I thought the windows were open. On top of this, the noise from inside was terrible, I could hear so every movement and door from what felt the entire hotel.
Overall impression is that this hotel is in desperate need of a full refurb and investing in higher quality furniture, walls and windows. It did not feel like the quality I would expect from previous mercure visits.
Staff were friendly, but carrying QR codes to review service is an underhanded way of boosting the overall reviews for the hotel.
Parking was free, and plentiful.
Food was very expensive for what it was.

The facilities such as the swimming area are old and tired, having to bring padlock’s in for your lockers is not great. There was no indication of breakfast not included as part of our booking, it was very expensive for breakfast and so we choose to go elsewhere. The rooms were okay but the mirror did get very hot at times. The door would not shut when pushed, you had to push it again to lock. Overall for the cost we paid for 3 rooms, it was not value for money and we would tell people not to go to the Mercure due to the above reasons. We were there for a healthcare conference and will potentially be again next year but we will make sure we avoid the Mercure.

We had a lovely stay at the Mercure Telford. The location was fabulous as it was so close to the Telford Centre for great shopping. The staff were very helpful and the gala meal we had there that evening was equally well served. The room we had was spacious and the bed was very comfortable. All in all it was a great stay.

In my opinion hotel isn’t 4 star. Carpets were thread bare around the “Spa”. Room had a table with one chair - awkward if there are 2 of you. The one chair we had had nail varnish on it. The Wardrobe had only 5 hangers. The safe was fixed to the floor of the wardrobe so you had to get on your hands and knees to use it. The tissue box in the room was empty. The shower gel in the shower was empty or broken. The face plate on the lock of the room door was hanging off and had to be put back in place once you opened the door or you couldn’t close it. The bathroom door squeaked like fury - one up all up ! The bath mat was stained. The headboard moved like it wasn’t fixed to the wall. The glasses and mugs in the restaurant were stuck to the tables. Residents have to pay for overnight parking, visitors don’t pay - struggling with that one. When we checked out we weren’t asked how our stay was - wonder why?

With regard to parking, overnight parking for resident guests is chargeable and has been for a few years. This is communicated across our booking platforms so guests are aware of the applicable charge when making their reservation.
Visitors to the hotel who purchase food or drinks are eligible for complimentary parking for a limited period, depending on the nature of their visit. Guests using our leisure club also have complimentary parking for the permitted leisure period. These arrangements differ from overnight parking, where a separate charge applies due to the considerably longer period the vehicle remains on site.
We are also disappointed to hear that you were not asked about your stay upon departure. This should form part of our interaction with guests at check-out and would also have provided an opportunity for you to raise the concerns mentioned in your review directly with our team.
Nevertheless, we appreciate you bringing these matters to our attention and your comments will be shared with our Housekeeping, Maintenance and Front Office teams for review.

Very nice hotel and very friendly staff too, unfortunately I can't rate the changing rooms as they need a good makeover desperately and also the swimming pool area as the ceiling tiles were water stained and in need of replacing, but as the hotel I found it very clean and a nice place to relax and have a drink, breakfast 10 out of10

We had a very enjoyable stay at a well run hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Sadly noisy talking neighbours between 1.45am and 4.15am -despite being asked by Reception to be quieter. I will always check for communicating doors from now on. Couldn’t sleep because of their loud discussions - made my day of competitive sports really difficult. Not a great experience

All fine, good food. However a lot of black mould in bathroom- all over ceiling. Some folks are allergic to this, there’s news stories of kids dying in council houses with mould. Shouldn’t be a room let out with that amount of mould around. Other areas of hotel need some maintenance too. Worth upping maintenance checks, stuff like this puts off return visits
