Friendly staff, easy service, nice food. The hotel is very clean, easy to find from Birmingham New Street train station, just a small walk. Very vibrant and a ‘buzz’ to the place. Rooms are small, but do the job and are clean with shampoo, hand wash and shower gel available

The sign next door "eat sleep rave repeat" is a warning to avoid if you actually want any sleep (impossible!)

The good points - location is nice and central, and the staff I interacted with were really friendly. The average points - rooms were standard Ibis affair, which means mostly clean but not the most comfortable place to spend a night. The bad points - the cooked breakfast was literally inedible, I tried it the first day but couldn't finish it. I'm NOT fussy, but it was all cremated beyond recognition - and the hash browns looked like they had survived re-entry into earths atmosphere. Sausages had a strange taste, scrambled eggs were a rubbery watery mess and mushrooms pretty much raw. How can anyone not know how to cook something as basic as this properly? Now for the DEAL-BREAKER: This hotel is built on the very edge of the "Arcadian" centre, which proudly promotes itself as "Eat Sleep Rave Repeat" with a big banner next to the hotel. One of the club a few feet from hotel rooms has loud thumping base music, that literally was making its own doors rattle and was audible from over 100 feet away. This music was causing a thumping vibration in hotel rooms (despite triple glazing) and went on til something ridiculous like 4am making sleep an impossibility. Ibis hotels just seem to have a general air not really caring about anything they do. Whilst this noise issue is not of their making - I can't see them actually caring enough about the problems it causes their guests to actually do anything about it either. A hotel that cant offer a guest a reasonable chance of sleep is not fit for its primary purpose.

Stayed here several times now after events in the area. It's a good location, close to the stations and Digbeth. Reception and bar area are always manned and staff are friendly. Bar area sells drinks and snacks late into the night and there's also a social area, e.g. with pool tables. Rooms are basic, but just what you need, and are always clean and well presented - definitely a step up from other chain hotels. Buffet breakfast has a wide range of options, which must be restocked regularly as there's never been any thing running low. This is now our go to if we need to stay in Birmingham.

all good as expected, but it is important to have a phone in the room; Since I ordered a taxi, and I was a few mins late to reach the taxi downstairs, i had no way to communicate to the reception that i was running late, in order for them to advise the taxi driver to wait for me, given that my whatsapp msg was not answered back.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We apologise for any inconvenience caused by not being able to communicate with our reception team regarding your delayed taxi pickup. We hope you enjoyed the rest of your stay with us and look forward to welcoming you back soon. Kind Regards, Dayana Kancheva Assistant General Manager
