Avoid! Noisy rooms no sleep! Needs refurbishment

TripAdvisor rating 1.0/5

sians104 Families - TripAdvisor review

A really poor hotel. We had an extremely noisy room with a nightclub underneath it! We were understanding of the music early on in the evening - it was loud enough that we could sing along and dance in our room. When it was still loud at midnight with no sign of stopping I contacted reception. Eventually, at 2.30am with the nightclub still in full swing and bass reverberating around our room we were moved to a different room. The new room we stayed in was much quieter although like the first extremely dated and a bit scruffy. Hotel offered us a free drink to make up for no sleep on the first night which I find really insulting given that the room was totally unsuitable for anyone to sleep in. Breakfast was very average, beds not comfortable. I won’t be returning!!

Not far from the station, the bullring centres & the hippodrome so convenient. Room was clean & bed comfortable albeit room smaller than average

Great central in Chinatown and behind the main centre !

vick532 Solo travel - TripAdvisor review

The hotel boasts a great location, within walking distance to everything Birmingham has to offer. However, it’s worth noting that it’s situated in Chinatown, slightly further out than the “central” description suggests. On arrival, the reception area was clean and welcoming, with a large, open common room that doubles up as the breakfast area. There’s also a well-stocked bar in this space, which is a nice touch. Unfortunately, the room itself was underwhelming. While the bed and bathroom were clean, the overall space felt cramped and clearly in need of updating. The carpet and room corners looked neglected, with visible dust and dirt that suggested a lack of deep cleaning. That said, the bed was surprisingly comfortable, and I had a good night’s sleep. Breakfast in the morning was generous, with both a hot buffet and continental options available—definitely a strong point. Overall, if you’re looking for a budget-friendly stay close to the city centre, this hotel does the job. Just be aware that the rooms could really benefit from a refresh and more thorough cleaning
