Felt very unwelcomed to stay at the hotel. Me and my partner are key workers and never felt so unwanted. We travelled from Derby to Birmingham as we were needed for a night shift. Upon arrival, we were bombarded with questions asking for numerous forms of proof and ID that we were key workers and they didn’t accept it for some reason. She instantly cancelled my reservation and justified it by saying I don’t have good enough proof, that they didn’t believe we were here for work and that we are in tier 3 so we cannot accept you. I’ve never had such a horrible experience. We immediately contacted our managers to send us proof as they weren’t accepting the original letter provided. The hotel staff were adamant that it had to be for today’s date and our names had to be bold, it had to highlight our job role and specific reasons. Which was ridiculous as the original letter had all of that but wasn’t given a specific date and was just a key worker letter. We went back to the hotel and told them we now have the specific proof you require and they were just rude. No eye contact, talking down on us and speaking in a blunt tone. It was obvious that they weren’t wanting us there. But they did finally give us a waiver to fill in. Whilst doing this, I observed another couple check in and they were not asked even near half the questions we were asked. She was very polite towards them and welcoming. However when she asked for proof of work, he just verbally told her I work for this place and she gave him the keys!! I was asked for today’s specific date of proof of key worker and so was my partner. We both had to show our ID and also show separate proof that we live together! Why was the other couple not asked for any of this? Was it because they were a white couple and me and my partner are south Asian? Or was it because they were about 28 whilst me and my partner are 20? Either way, me and my partner felt discriminated against. Whether it was age or race, this is discrimination! Even whilst checking out, different staff were rude and had no matters whatsoever. She just shouted whilst we were leaving “WHAT ROOM NUMBER?!” No ‘hello’, no ‘thank you for your stay’, no nothing... I’ve only provided the rating of 4 due to the room being well cleaned, TV and heating.

The people here are warm, friendly and inviting. Nothing was too much trouble for them and made me feel safe when I felt my most vulnerable. My only complaint is nothing to do with the people. Just the pressure, of the water. I stayed in a couple of rooms and noted I did not feel particularly satisfied with the quality of the showers, and there was no option to have a bath. I would also like to see more attention given to people with specific dietary needs whether it be there CHOICE or NEED. For the price I paid I think the quality and value for money is OUTSTANDING. The MIND boggles how they can even break even in these establishments. The attention to detail in the design is second to none. Staying here just for a couple of days gave me the opportunity to explore a city I have lived for years but had never seen. ALL I know right now is thanks to this ONE opportunity I will never be the same again. EVER. I thank you ALL with every fiber of my being. People don't read long reviews so I will leave it there. You ALL know how much this means to me XXX LOVE VSUNITY

The hotel only accepted emergency workers and was subject to the usual (anti) Covid restrictions. Given the above I believe that the staff tried their hardest to provide service.

Hotel was nice amd well kept, but the room was very basic and to small the bathroom was very tiet far to small and cramped, I wouldn't stay here again.

Good location, bed was very uncomfortable and seemed to be missing mattress, only a mattress topper was there. Room was dirty and the carpet looked like it hadn't been cleaned especially round the edges.

I was very happy with location and the hotel generally and the price was very low likely due to Covid severely impacting demand. One thing I was unhappy with was the way a request from a lady in front of me in the queue asking for milk the next day for her baby. The lady was offered that if should bought breakfast for her baby at 5.95 GBP. That was ridiculous to charge 6 pounds for some milk, We asked for milk when our daughter was a baby and was never treated like that, I showed the lady where a local Supermarket was as an altermative.

The hotel is very centrally located, we used the underground car park which at £15 overnight we thought a very good price. There is not a Check in desk, but plenty of very helpful staff to sort you out with their smart phones, very modern! Our room was also modern and well equipped, it was spotlessly clean and the bed very comfortable. We had a very good breakfast, well stocked, with a good choice of hot and cold food. All the staff we met were great but a special shout out to Ingrid the morning breakfast lady, so chatty, helpful and made everyone feel so welcome. All in all a great stay at a great price.

Overpriced for a small, very basic room. Room was adequate for an overnight stay but I would not want to stay for longer. It is also next to a nightclub, so expect some noise into the early hours. It has no reception, so check in is via some wandering assistants, which is very strange, and they use Whatapp as a method of contact if you have a problem. This did not feel very reassuring. The only plus was the size of the towels - very few hotels have bath sheets, and the smaller towel was also larger than a regular hotel hand towel.
