Did not get the room we ordered - a bit chaotic check in

We cancelled the last night out of 3 in two rooms ordered. At the payment we noticed that we actually paid more for 2 nights - than for the 3. It took way too long to figure that out in the reception. But was more dissatifying was, that since I travel with 2 dogs (which was on my booking too) - I ordered a larger room! It is on my receipt for the booking - but we had two of your smallets rooms! That is absolutely not ok! And I even had to pay the same amount for it. In fact, I would like to be contacted about that.

Checked in at 1730 on Sarurday to be told the leisure facilities close at 1900, but 1800 to children and don't open in the morning until 8 (9 for children), which I found to be extremely poor and would have booked elsewhere had I known. Had two double rooms booked. Wjen I called to ask about room type changes, to have one double and one twin was told that if i had that option I wouldn't get connecting rooms, but the two doubles I would. I still didn't get connecting rooms, but across the corridor, even though both rooms had connecting doors. Dinner service was slow and the food was luke warm when it finally came out. The room was ok, though the shower could be warmer.

Stay at this hotel quite regularly, scored an 8 due to the type of mixer shower. Some rooms have what I call a "burn me/freeze me shower" which are mixers on the baths. You get the temperature right and then when someone else somewhere turns a tap on/off or flushes a loo you get either burned from the mega hot water or a cold burst. The temperature controlled ones are ok and ceiling showers are the best. Otherwise rooms are a good size with comfy beds, fans/heaters are a bit noisier on the 4th floor. Breakfast is very good and staff attentive. Evening meals are nicely presented and always served hot, which is a big tick from me. Burn me/freeze me showers are the only issue I have in this hotel and stay 30 plus times a year here.
