I booked a designated room type on a third-party platform, but was given a smaller room upon check-in. It wasn't until I found out I was looking for a hotel that they informed me it was their fault and didn't proactively contact me for compensation. And during the compensation negotiation process, the solution was completely unacceptable. After multiple communications, I was only given a compensation solution, and the experience was very poor. It is commendable that their employees have a very good attitude.

You had booked a Superior room, but due to an unexpected maintenance issue, we were unable to provide the room type you reserved upon your arrival. We regret that we did not communicate this to you proactively at check-in. Our team attempted to reach you the following day to explain the situation, but we were unfortunately unable to make contact. When we later received your email regarding the room discrepancy, we began the compensation process immediately. Our initial offer was a 20% refund to be processed through your original payment method via Ctrip, as required by our operational and accounting procedures. We understand that this solution was not convenient for you, and we sincerely apologise for any frustration this caused. Following your request for an alternative option, we offered to provide the compensation in Accor membership points as a gesture of goodwill. You accepted this arrangement, and we ensured the points were calculated and credited to your account within three days after your check-out on 23 November. We acknowledge that the communication process was not as smooth as it should have been, and we are sorry for the inconvenience and stress this caused during your stay. At the same time, we want to assure you that our team worked to provide solutions and complete the compensation as quickly and fairly as possible. We truly value your recognition of our staff’s service attitude, and we will continue to work on improving our internal communication and service recovery processes to prevent similar issues in the future. A fantastically reasonable priced twin room for me and my friend to stay for a night (travelling for a gig), this was a great gem to find! Big clean room with enough lights (why do so many hotels hate you being able to see 🤣), with a kitchen, generously sized bathroom, the TVs even have Chromecast facilities built in so we could watch Disney+ easily. Close to the train station, cheap parking (I used Digbeth car park at £4.80 a day) and the coach station, but still secure (key or buzzer entry only), nice and quiet on our floor and very comfy. Will definitely be back when I next come to Brum
