Breakfast disaster

Customer review rating 4.1/5

The wifi was poor Room was cold Water pressure kept dropping The breakfast was a mess - items missing (including cutlery/plates etc). No staff around. No hash browns or fried eggs. Very poor effort.

Lovey clean rooms, breakfast was not good but it was busy! No cups, plates, food left. Shower also kept loosing the cold water so water would be boiling for a few seconds meaning you had to jump out to avoid being scalded.

Poor organisation at breakfast - buffet ran out of many items

My wife and stayed one night for a shoop8ng weekend and to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Everyone we met at the hotel was professional, courteous and helpful.

Fine for what we wanted

The room was very clean and comfortable for what we needed for an overnight stay for a xmas shopping trip for my sister and myself. I cannot however understand why when you book a twin room, you only get a choc bar on one of the pillows. You might as well not bother putting any! Also we only had one curtain at our window, rather than a pair. We could therefore see outside and had to fasten a wide scarf up to the window. We also had no tv remote in the room and had to phone downstairs. The girl who brought up the tv remote saw our makeshift curtain and commented. The breakfast however was very good.

+ Friendly staff, clean spaces + fresh environment. - I asked 2 times to take care of the sink in our room because the water was remaining there. Problem not solved 100% - In breakfast, not enough variety, we should ask for a glass or other stuff

A well located hotel, with brilliant staff, the Ibis Styles is perfectly placed if your visiting Birmingham. The rooms are more than adequate and breakfast is plentiful.

Good room, quiet. Breakfast could be improved by quicker turnaround of replacement items, example, bacon, eggs, sausage. Need to avoid busy periods at breakfast.

A stain on a good brand.

Check-in fine. Staff pleasant. TV not tuned in for basic BBC News 24. Neither bedside light worked. Shower went off sporadically, then cold, then scalding. Breakfast, the worst I've seen for many years. Cold, stale croissants. Fatty, cold, hard bacon. Sausages which were both burned and raw. Dried-up scrambled eggs. The "coffee" tasted of some random chemical. I've used the Accor chain for 20yrs. This hotel is damaging a good reputation.

Comfortable overnight stay

Warm friendly welcome including some useful tourist info. Quiet room and comfy bed. Handy location close to city centre. Only downside was the tasteless breakfast sausages.

Fine, but a tired hotel.

Room/bathroom needed maintenance, breakfast was 'average' at best.

Adequate accomodation, somewhat expensive with unwanted smell.

The staff were friendly and welcoming, the hotel was well located close to town and a short walk from New Street Train Station. On arrival I checked in smoothly and grabbed a free Mocha and went up to my room. Upon entry I thought I smell something funny, and I'm convinced it was the smell of vomit but by the time I had realised what the smell was I had already unpacked my bag and was relaxing on the bed. The bed was comfortable and everything worked as it is should. The next morning I woke for breakfast and always enjoy a bit of toast, unfortunately the toast machine was out of action so I have bread with my bacon, eggs and beans. Other than that the stay was pleasant, I wouldn't not stay again but in hindsight I should have asked for another room, but I don't like to complain.

It was not good. Paid alot of money to stay for wife's birthday and found room heating did not work (controller broken) so we're cold. Hair dryer would cut out after 1 second, the shower would cut out or lose hot water after 30 seconds, paint was peeling off the ceiling in the bathroom. At checkout we were not asked how our stay was, so did not feel I was able to mention it.

Room good, breakfast fine, breakfast service very poor.

Bedroom was comfy and a good size. Breakfast was lacking in quality. The food was fine but there was not enough staff to cater for the customers. We had to clear our own table of the previous users plates and cups and sit at a dirty table, there were not enough cups, glasses, cutlery for the customers - we had to use pint glasses from the bar for orange juice. A disabled customer in a wheelchair arriving at the same time as us had the same issues with no staff available to help. The staff when available were helpful but it seemed they were understaffed.

Cheap and cheery but not much else
