Overall the product is a bit old. Lobby looks nice and welcoming but the bedroom requires some renovation.

Road works and constant drilling

Getting to the hotel by car was a nightmare as large parts of Broad Street are closed with roadworks to install a new tram system. While this isn’t the fault of the hotel it would have been helpful if an email with clear directions had been sent out after booking as the diversion signs are useless. When w3 arrived at the hotel there was a sign in reception warning guests that new TVs were being installed and that there may be occasional drilling noises between 9.00 and 17.00. The drilling was constant and was accompanied by loud hammering noises (presumably when rawlplugs were being hammered into the newly drilled walls. The drilling was still going on at 17.30 when we left our room. If we had known in advance that significant work was going on in the hotel we would probably have booked somewhere different.

Please accept my apologies for the noise due to the maintenance works being carried out in the hotel which will end by 26th March. However, I will address your comments with the relevant departments and can assure you that constructive action will be taken to minimise the noise and that it finishes at 17:00 sharply. Moreover, I would suggest to always check road works on your route and local travel restrictions before starting your journey. Once again please accept my sincere apology and I do hope we have the opportunity to better serve you on your return to Birmingham. Kind regards,

Great welcome in to the hotel, clean and modern. My room was rather dated and could of done with some TLC, carpets up in the corners and walls could do with some freshening up. Simply cosmetic work that could upgrade, staff were excellent and location perfect for commuting.

Drilling from 9am-5pm

Unfortunately this was not a good stay, I wasn’t informed until my arrival that new TV’s were being installed and that drilling would take place from 9am-5pm each day. Had I known this I would have stayed somewhere else as I got no work done and couldn’t even rest after a long journey due to the noise. I was very unhappy that no compensation was offered for the discruption and I paid full price for a disrupted stay I would have avoided if I’d known.

It was okay. The room was very std but warm. You asked if I wanted anything extra for my booking and I requested an extra blanket which I didn’t get. Fortunately I carry around my own little extra. The room temp was also reasonable.

Good Breakfast, helpful staff, slightly dated room decor, but the major plus of this over other hotels is that it has two doors between the corridor and the bedroom, meaning your sleep is not disturbed by noisy guests or lifts.

reception and rooms fine and location is good. Gym also OK. Bar / dining staff in eve a bit poor. Very slow at serving. Miss new people arriving. Never pop over and offer another drink which would double sales.

1st time stating here decided on this hotel as needed parking which needs to be made clearer about charges etc we had to ring hotel to ask where to park and what to do

Never stayed at a Novotel before. I was delivering a workshop there for two days so thought I'd stay and check it out. A great hotel, great and attentive staff. Beautiful healthy food options and a Starbucks :) My room was lovely (apart from a whiffy shower curtain). I asked for a quiet room owing to the roadworks nearby and never heard a thing. Booked again for May and June as delivering again!

Clogged shower

Room was clean but hallways and layout was dated. The water level in the shower rose when trying to adjust the water temperature, and took some time to drain. When showering, the water once again rose to beyond my ankles. This was very uncomfortable for me and I had to wash my feet in the sink after.

must have very thin windows as even though on the 6th floor and facing away from the road we could here everything all night. on arrival there we pubic hairs on the bathroom and toilet floor. Towels were very old and small. the only good thing about this stay was the breakfast was lovely.

Not the best Novotel

We have stayed in 3 Novotels in six weeks, this one came 3rd! Poorly staffed, although the staff were extremely pleasant, there just wasn't enough to deal with the crowds. Apparently, they were not aware of a concert that was in the major venue 10 minutes walk from the hotel! Not the greatest breakfast either, there wasn't much fresh fruit, the serving area was small and cramped and only one drinks machine. We had an Executive Room which needed updating. The bathroom was lovely but the separate toilet was scary! It was like sitting in a prison toilet! The hotel was brilliantly situated. For that reason, I would probably stay again if visiting Birmingham.
