Really good location with easy access to the wonderfully restored canal network. Hard working, friendly and efficient staff. A special mention must be given to Sunil - wonderful chef/bar man/receptionist - lovely personality & nothing was too much bother. He is a credit to the hotel. Food & service was really good - very large, tasty portions. Rooms are large & clean - we had an executive room - only complaint would be that having a separate toilet from the shower room is a great idea, but you really should have hand washing facilities in the toilet as you currently have to go to the shower room to wash your hands which sort of defeats the purpose. We had a disrupted sleep on our second night - was unable to contact reception to complain as neither of us had WhatsApp on our phones. Only other comment would be the cost of parking - considering what we spent on our stay, £36 parking charge was excessive, especially as we had a Blue Badge holder with us.

We are all doing our best to ensure the restrictions around the hotel are followed, but we have many occasions when the guests have mask exemption. In that cases, we need to agree with their needs. I am sorry that this created bad impression for you. In terms of the Wi-Fi, we have wireless Internet connection that can be publicly used by our guests but we have never had any issues with its safety and security. Nice staff. Room Upgrade to executive room possibly consolidating their customers because there were not many of us. But coffee machine and fridge not powers and no cups. The £18 garage charge was a bit steep for overnight.

I stayed using a voucher from a cancellation from last year during COVID. I did want to use it at another Novotel but was informed I could only use it at the original hotel that had been booked ! Very strange since I would have thought it would have been available to use over the group as I had booked on the Accor website not direct with the hotel. We had a really good stay, but the property is not as good as its sister properties in Manchester or Leeds. the room felt slightly dated, but still very comfortable and very clean. Coffee machine was old and did not work first go, but did manage to get it working. Fridge was not switched on, but I can understand why as it had a very bright light that would light up the room during the night. Breakfast was pre ordered due to COVID and was tasty and fresh, though the carton of milk was not fresh milk.

I can confirm that the vouchers issued need to be used at the same property and I believe you can find all this information in the Terms and Conditions of the voucher issue. I am really happy to hear that you had a great breakfast and a comfortable stay, even though you had bigger expectations for the room. I am very happy to know that some of our sister hotels had their renovation done and we are all hoping that we will do that as well in the near future. It is great to know that the room was clean, especially when we are working very hard in ensuring that all the restrictions are followed. The coffee machines we provide in the Executive rooms were renewed not long ago and normally needs to be put on before use. We also always have a team member available to help with any requests. We drove to the hotel and it was very difficult to get too because of the roadworks. The directions weren't great and we didn't know about the issue until we phoned up for help, i.e. we never received any email in advance to update. We apparently had a room upgrade but it looked similar to standard rooms in other hotels. The heating was terrible and didn't work throughout our stay, i.e. it stayed on cold all the way through. In fairness, we were offered a room change on the second day and I got half price parking. Overall not bag but not great either

We had the best night in Novotel Birmingham Centre. Clean, spacious, clear guidelines on covid restrictions. Excellent customer service.. You won my daughter over with the popcorn! Brilliant location. Excellent parking services. Would definitely recommend and will definitely stay here again on our next visit to Birmingham.

Road works and constant drilling

Getting to the hotel by car was a nightmare as large parts of Broad Street are closed with roadworks to install a new tram system. While this isn’t the fault of the hotel it would have been helpful if an email with clear directions had been sent out after booking as the diversion signs are useless. When w3 arrived at the hotel there was a sign in reception warning guests that new TVs were being installed and that there may be occasional drilling noises between 9.00 and 17.00. The drilling was constant and was accompanied by loud hammering noises (presumably when rawlplugs were being hammered into the newly drilled walls. The drilling was still going on at 17.30 when we left our room. If we had known in advance that significant work was going on in the hotel we would probably have booked somewhere different.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience at the Novotel. I can assure you that we take our guest's comments very seriously as we strive to continuously improve the service of the hotel. Please accept my apologies for the noise due to the maintenance works being carried out in the hotel which will end by 26th March. However, I will address your comments with the relevant departments and can assure you that constructive action will be taken to minimise the noise and that it finishes at 17:00 sharply. Moreover, I would suggest to always check road works on your route and local travel restrictions before starting your journey. Once again please accept my sincere apology and I do hope we have the opportunity to better serve you on your return to Birmingham. Kind regards,

We have stayed in 3 Novotels in six weeks, this one came 3rd! Poorly staffed, although the staff were extremely pleasant, there just wasn't enough to deal with the crowds. Apparently, they were not aware of a concert that was in the major venue 10 minutes walk from the hotel! Not the greatest breakfast either, there wasn't much fresh fruit, the serving area was small and cramped and only one drinks machine. We had an Executive Room which needed updating. The bathroom was lovely but the separate toilet was scary! It was like sitting in a prison toilet! The hotel was brilliantly situated. For that reason, I would probably stay again if visiting Birmingham.

I have stayed here a couple of times, but wouldn't put it on my list of favourites. The front desk service is very polite, the rooms were clean and well appointed and there is an underground car park. The "upgrade" to a superior room is not worth the price - unless you desperately need a dressing gown and coffee pod machine for the night. The rooms all appear to be the same size - small. The restaurant is impersonal - I've been in better Ibis facilities - and the bar is no better. Again, the service was good, but the hotel does not feel inviting. I should also add that the car park only has stair access, so tough luck if you are disabled or have heavy luggage. Even if the lift did go down to the basement there is a 6" to 8" step between the car park and the stairwell. To cap it all, 2 weeks later I am still waiting for them to provide me with correct invoices.

Been in this novotel maybe 20 times in past 15years. Location in broadstreet is good, lot of restaurants on area. Especilly best italian in town Del Villaggio. 12minutes walk from new street. Price was rather cheap in january. Hotel is nice but rooms starts to need something new.
