Only two complaints: - the bedside lights are an excessively bright and non-adjustable cool white. Maybe someone mistakenly thought that bathroom lights were suitable for a bedroom? In contrast, see Sydney's Mercure for lighting done right. - exhaust fan in bathroom runs 24/7. The randomly blinking green LED on it makes me think it's supposed to be motion-activated, but it clearly wasn't the case here.

I like the hotel. The staff are friendly and helpful. One criticism is that in the 5 days I stayed (Thursday - Tuesday) my room was only cleaned once.

Excellent location to Canberra Centre, and CBD. Comfortable room with good amenities. Front desk staff pleasant and helpful. Overall appearance a little tired looking. Air conditioning in room did not work was very hot and stuffy. I advised the front desk that the aircon was not working they advised that someone would look at it whilst we were out for the day. Air conditioning was still not working on our return. Advised reception upon checkout that the air conditioning was still not working and unable to be turned on.

Despite being a Diamond Accor member I received no upgrade and was put in a low floor room directly across from the lift doors for that floor. The reception staff are poorly trained and have no idea what they are doing. The room was tiny and the hotel feels more like a dog kennel than a hotel for humans because of how many guests were allowed to have dogs staying in their rooms! Dogs constantly barking and growling in the reception area. Breakfast selection was dismissal. No amenities in the room either. Dreadful stay and certainly will never be returning to this dump.

Peter at reception was extremely helpful and courteous. I was very tired and he even came with me to find a parking spot in the building opposite. I have one issue which was a flashing green light from a smoke detector that was going off all night in my room. I forgot to mention it to peter the next morning.

Well located within walking distance of shops, cafes, restaurants and Floriade, which is why my husband and I stayed there with our little dog for two nights. The adjoining cafe/restaurant Clover was fabulous for breakfast and the Sebel staff were great. However, being Accor members for many years we expected our room to be appointed with the usual Accor provisions. There were only two small towels, one foot towel and one face washer. No shower cap, only one wine glass, one coffee mug, no complimentary biscuits and the kitchenette was virtually bare. There were wall attached canisters of shampoo, conditioner and body wash, which smelt lovely. The Foxtel app is on the TV but they dont have Foxtel. New release movies were only $16 with a 24 hour view time. We phoned Reception for what was missing that we needed and housekeeping was knocking on the door within minutes which was great. Accor members need to note, this is not an genuine Accor property, they are only an Accor "affiliate" which we found out upon checkout but we did get a small bottle of complimentary wine that should have been offered at check-in that we had to ask for at check-out.

I had let the Sebel know that there were 3 guests staying and that my sister has a medical condition thata requires her to cook all our meals. When we went to use the facilities there was only 1 plate and fork, No sharp knife, and 2 breakfast bowls. I could not get in touch with reception via the phone I had to go downstairs to reception to let them know. It is very hard to peel and cut vegetables with a normal dinner knife when I asked for a sharp knife I was told they don't have any. We had to wash all the crockery and cultery before using them as they were stained and dirty. I am sorry to have to complain about this.

Overall, we had a great experience staying at The Sebel Canberra. The hotel was conveniently located, and the stay was enjoyable. The $16 maximum parking fee at Canberra Centre was also a welcome incentive. That said, the parking arrangement can be a little tricky, as the area between the hotel and Canberra Centre may feel less safe at night. While this did not affect our stay, it could be a consideration for families with young children and potentially affect the hotel’s appeal to this group. One other area for improvement would be staffing at reception. There was only one staff member on duty during both check-in and check-out, and queues were building up on both occasions. Having two staff members available during peak periods would help reduce waiting times and make the overall guest experience even better.

Parking was not idea. Having to park over 300m away in the shopping centre car park. Room was comfortable and well appointed. Breakfast was not a good experience. Staff member was completely disinterested in serving us. We got our food but left without our drink. She was more occupied on her mobile phone than to pay us any attention. Disappointing as a Diamond member.
