I thought I booked a hotel room but I found myself in a "apartment room" across the yard. This was also branded Mercure. This is usually the seal for a certain level of standard and quality, but this was not the case for this room. I received an "apartment room" with a small kitchenette. This kitchenette has obviously been used to cook dinner for a big occasion. The food smell (and other odors) in the room was obvious. On top of this the room was in very poor and worn out condition. It was obviously not refurbished since it was built in the early eighties. After complaining to the reception, where I was met with the "usual french hospitality", I got another room. The next room did not smell from cooking, but it was in equally poor condition. Nobody wants to stay in a room where the entrance door have severe damages from a forced entrance. Luckily, I did book at a Flexible rate and was able to cancel the coming nights and re-book to another hotel close by.

dingy hotel, which I had never encountered in France! Deplorable condition of the rooms, very strong smell of perfume to camouflage the nauseating odors, toilet not fixed, broken baseboards, dingy carpet with stains, windows not closing, no water bottles in the rooms ... two horrible nights ... billing on arrival, before taking my room, I was told that there's no such thing as “fast check out” here? hotel Grande Arche 20 mns walk from the Grande Arche? go figure!

Dirty bathroom. Hair in the bathtub and on the floor. Carpet in the bedroom not hovered properly.
