It was good as we had early check in on request but the room was very warm and uncomfortable even with the windows open, and no ventilation from the bathroom.

AVOID FOR WEDDINGS! I had my wedding reception here in April and it was the worst decision! Unfortunately I was very stressed and upset because of many faults of the hotel and staff. When I emailed the manager for resolution, he implied it was my fault and my guests were liars. I responded to this 3 weeks ago and I am now being ignored! Very distressing and disappointing

A dated hotel, staff were very hard to find at check in & in the bar area. Room was, clean tidy & ok for an overnight.

The most uncomfortable bed I have slept in for ages! Maybe I'm expecting too much - I guess I had expected a mid-market chain but the Mercure is budget. Clean. Drab. Service was so-so - very few guests. Breakfast was poor. I am probably spoiled! I'll try a B&B or pub next time I need to be in Thatcham.
