Working in area so able to book a room, made clear due to COVID there was no breakfast or evening meal. First night was hot evening so windows opening in to courtyard (not a problem as bar was closed, when open is a problem as drinkers spill out into laid out seating till late) but windows opened over rattly refrigeration compressor.. too noisy to sleep so had to close windows, unfortunately window wouldn't close as workings hit frame... miserable night sleep. Second night 'realigned' mechanism and got it closed eventually, just in time for next room have a late arrival with banging door and a blinking baby wretching so another rough night, last night so knackered fell asleep :) on the good side as I left a night early they rebooked the booking for later in month, everything great thank you no complaints. Would stay again but remember to ask for outside looking room not over courtyard.

The location is set back from the road, so no traffic noise. The public rooms are welcoming and well presented. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was large, the bathroom had an outside window and had a lovely shower, and nice toiletries. Downsides - the pillows were very firm and not as comfortable as i would have liked. There was noise like a generator from the pub/restaurant next door. Get a room away from the pub. There was very limited choice on the menu for a non-meat eater - veg curry or salmon. The curry was lovely, but I ate out the next night.

A lovely hotel set in a quiet yet accessible location. The staff are absolutely wonderful - your greatest resource. From the initial telephone booking, checking in, right to the time of our departure, everything was perfect. Where to start how great everything was - staff sorting out rooms for relatives needs were patient and friendly, event staff were on the ball, the Manager extremely accommodating and ensuring I was happy with everything right through the party set up. Bedrooms all lovely, breakfast so much choice, hot and plentiful. The whole team felt like family by the end of our stay.

We use the hotel fairly frequently on our journey down to Clevedon(in North Somerset), and have always found it to be a very comfortable and well-appointed establishment. If the prices didn't rocket during the week, we'd probably stay more often!

Perfectly nice hotel, just frustrating that whatever I have in my loyalty profile, or put on the booking as special requests, are just ignored - making the process a bit pointless. (This has happened before.) Nice breakfast, odd that they stock Marmite but hide it away and only bring it out if you ask for it.

Hotel was welcoming and comfortable on a miserable wet day. Hotel was very quiet but staff were friendly and attentive. Evening meal was particularly good. Would be even better if room had a blind in the bathroom and had a towel rail.

Public spaces OK, but our room had a air conditioning unit/generator outside the window which caused problems throughout the night. Complained at the reception, only to be told a few people have complained before about this. Spoke to the on duty manager about another matter without getting satisfaction. Asked for contact details of CEO of Mercure in this country. Nobody seemed to have any idea who this was, but eventually got a name, but no contact details. Very unlikely that we would stay at this hotel group ever again.

The drinks were extortionate - £6.60 for a pint of coke should be illegal! Room was nice but not really what I would call superior. Nice staff, although to be told that they MAY be able to russel up a sandwich for lunch was a bit of a shock.

Suitable for our needs, only a one night stay. There was only two pillows on the bed, it think there should have been four.
