I was extremely disappointed with my stay at this hotel and would not recommend it. Firstly, the room had a very unpleasant smell on arrival, which immediately gave a poor impression and made it uncomfortable to stay in. Unfortunately, things didn’t improve when it came to breakfast. The breakfast offering was very poor – there was hardly any food left when we arrived, and what little remained was cold and inedible. None of the items were replenished during the entire time we were there. To make matters worse, the coffee machine wasn’t working, which meant there wasn’t even a decent hot drink available. All of these issues were reported to staff, but they appeared uninterested and made little effort to resolve the problems or improve the situation. Overall, the lack of basic standards, combined with unhelpful and disengaged staff, made for a very frustrating and disappointing experience.

Unfortunately I was unable to stay due to the change of schedule with the funeral which was very unfortunate. However, l still believe it would have been worth it.

Picked this hotel as we were going to a funeral the following day at the nearby Crematorium. Initially I looked at Premier Inns but this was a similar price and came with free parking. It was comfortable, clean and the staff were pleasant and helpful.

The hotel itself was as expected but I was disappointed in the taxi service the reception booked for us. The venue we were attending was a 10 minute ride away (3.5 miles) from the hotel but as it was booked from a Newbury provider the cost was an extortionate £33.00. The hotel should look to use more local services (Thatcham) that would likely be considerably cheaper. Taxi pricing is not the Hotel's problem per se but using such an expensive provider reflects badly on the hotel.
