Although the rooms were clean and the staff friendly the plumbing was poor. The WC flush failed after operation resulting in water constantly running into the bowl and the tank not filling. The wash basin plug, which was of the push to close/open type closed but would not open leaving dirty water in the basin. Fortunately both these happened in the morning. My wife was forced to use the toilets near reception but the hand dryer failed. Additionally, the lack of pictures etc on the walls gave the place a soulless look.

Nice hotel pleasant staff on arrival good parking facilities, room was nice ground floor but needed some maintenance ie toilet cistern loose and the shower leaked onto the floor . But small problems really overall a pleasant stay , we ate in the restaurant the food was good the service was good . But the night supervisor / manager had a foul mouth when talking to other staff and was really brash and abrasive in the morning while checking out . The two Romanian staff were super helpful and pleasant which made up for this we would stay again though

Only stayed one night for a function. Very friendly, helpful guy on reception which is more than can be said for the miserable barman! He made us feel more of a nuisance! Unfortunately I didn’t get either name. Room was basic but serviceable, could be cleaner especially around the bed. Bed was very comfy, slept well. Very good tasty breakfast which was a surprise as the meal we had the evening before was dreadful! We’re not fussy eaters but there was quite a bit of food left uneaten. All in all an ok stay, we didn’t choose this hotel but would probably stay again, just skip the dinner!

My original room had no electric so the young man upgraded us. There was some noise from a family party but this was dealt with appropriately.

The first room we had had noise from the bar below until 3am in the morning. The plug in the sink didn’t work and the TV came on automatically during the night, which is probably why a previous guest had unplugged it. We were offered a room two down from what we had that I refused. It all seemed quite a bother to resolve the room issue, We were changed room to a quieter room the second night. We were told that evening by reception that our original room was rarely used - if the hotel is aware the room is not well kept it should be rectified. We could have been upgraded for the inconvenience or offered Accor points but neither occurred. If you wish to keep Accor members you need to make them feel special not an inconvenience.

Excellent stay, staff were very friendly and nothing too much trouble. Food was also excellent, no complaints there. Only down side, if I am being a bit picky is that although the bedroom was very large and comfy the bathroom was very small, supposed to be for disabled but my mother did not feel that she could shower as the step was too high and not much room to move round.

I booked three rooms and these were located next to each other. However on entering one of the rooms the stench was unbearable. We returned to reception who managed to relocate us. It appears this maintenance issue was not resolved during the evening as the smell had begun to permeate the other rooms and the corridor. I understand that the hotel did all that they could for us but this issue needed resolving as a matter of urgency, not something to be left for Monday morning. Apart from that, the staff were pleasant and breakfast was delicious. The double beds turned out to be singles pushed together and as these weren't of the same height, made for a sleepless night for two of the three rooms. Would we stay again? Maybe with a different Mercure or Accor hotel but not this one.

As with all of the Accor hotels in which we have stayed, the welcome at Reception was both friendly and professional. Indeed, Stephan ensured that our stay would be relaxing, comfortable, and memorable. This included his allocating us a quiet room at the rear of the hotel with a lovely countryside view. All of the dinners we had, including my usual steak & chips on two nights, were delicious. As was the House Merlot. We also recommend the Thai Curry and Chilli Con Carne that we enjoyed during the other evenings. Opportunities for improvement: We can't think of any.

Not as expected

The bedroom was basic and smaller that a basic room at a premier Inn, which is normally my preferred due to cost. The double bed only just fitted with a bedside cabinet either side and a very small bathroom. You provided a desk in the room, but with no lamp so the corner gets dark and not good for work to continue on my laptop. The toilet is in a very thin room which means that if you sit down, your knees are against the adjacent wall, good job i am not over 6'. I had to pee standing to one side of the bowl!! The flooring was a laminate floor which is not very warm underfoot and not as comfortable as carpet. The pillows were ultra thin and i needed the additional 2 pillows to make it comfortable. When i returned to the room, i needed to warm the room as it was cold, and found the radiator behind the heavy curtains, that meant if i wanted warmth i needed to have the curtains open? The food was very good, although it took over 30 mins to get fish & chips. The barman was attentive but not friendly, as too the waitress (not very welcoming). The female receptionist on arrival was very friendly and attentive and so was the male receptionist the next morning. I chose Mercure as i have stayed in there other Mercure hotels and had a quality experience and incorrectly thought i would get the same.

Worst service from any hotel in Europe

The Manager was very unhelpful,rude,sarcastic and a very discredit to Accor Hotels. Food was virtually in edible and service was very poor. The waiting staff were only interested in the young men eating. We had to wait over an hour for our food. They did not care or come to see if we were ok only when we asked twice but the response was that it was happening. Actually the whole hotel staff attitude from booking was the worst in Europe I have ever had....and I took pictures. This was even after me contacting Acccpr customer care themselves who phoned the hotel on our behalf.

We stayed just one night as a stop over enroute. Arriving quite late we were quickly checked in which we were thankful for. On arriving in the room we found it pleasant and it looked clean, the room felt a little to warm for sleeping so we opened the windows and left them open all night as the room remained too hot. The hotel was quiet and peaceful overnight, we didn't notice any noise from other guests at all. The mattresses need replacing, both my husband and I felt the beds were really uncomfortable and we both woke with aches and pains. The bathroom had quite a bit of black mould on the grouting around the tiles in the bath area and the shower was broken but when we got it working we only got luke warm to cold water. Breakfast was served in the conference room due to wedding taking place in the restaurant. We felt the breakfast selection didn't respond to any dietary needs such as dairy or gluten free, there was no other milk or bread choice available and decaf coffee was of the instant variety not fresh coffee unlike the caffeinated version. We didn't see a single member of staff during breakfast to ask about dietary requirements. However the food we had was hot and fresh, the orange juice tasted more like squash. So it was OK for just one night if not disappointing but I wouldn't have wanted to stay any longer.

We stayed for one night whilst attending a wedding. From check in to checkout everything was perfect. Our room was suprisingly large and both room and bathroom were modern, clean and fresh. The fridge and safe were unexpected extras. Breakfast was plentiful, freshly cooked and tasty. Every member of staff we came across was helpful and friendly - a credit to the hotel.
