Excellent Breakfast takeaway pack, well received, as I needed to stay for business reasons. Considering we are in the middle of a pandemic, the Hotel offered room service for food, to keep social distancing in place. Room clean and comfortable, would stay again should the need arise.

The stay was good/satisfactory. The aircon unit in room 217 was noisy and the fan was making a rattling noise. To warm up the room I had to put up with the noise. When I turned off the aircon, the noise did not stop (I waited for half an hour) until I summoned help from the gentleman on reception. They had to open the ceiling access door and they manually turned the unit off. However, the bed was comfortable and the room was clean. The steak was fabulous. Staff were helpful and very friendly (especially the young lady who worked at reception in the morning of 11.11.2020). Thank you to the management and all the staff for making us feel safe from this Covid 19 pandemic.

Good value, friendly staff and clean well-decorated rooms. A little different at the moment with the bar/restaurant being closed, but they are pleasant spaces when open. Large free car park, and a good location with easy access to Thatcham, Newbury and Reading.

Great stay, staff are following government guidance and policing this well in the hotel with residents, really reassuring to see this. Rooms and all areas of the hotel are clean along with well stocked with sanitizers etc. The WiFi works well in both the rooms and public areas. Food is well managed and safe to dine, social distancing of tables etc, nothing too much trouble for the wonderful staff that made my stay a relaxing work essential. Thanks again.

Comfortable stay. Staff and management attentive throughout and hotel kept clean and hygienic. Dinner menu was limited but understandable under the circumstances, however the quality was good. It would have been nice to have some fruit available as part of the breakfast offering.

The staff,especially Jasmine were all very friendly, efficient and helpful and a credit to the hotel

Our room was very comfortable and the bathroom exceptional. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly in difficult circumstances with reduced staffing levels. It was lovely to have a cooked breakfast served on a hot plate, the breakfast was definitely cooked to order

On arrival in our room we were quick to realise that the sink didn't have a plug, leaving a gaping hole into which should something fall, would be lost. The manager did all that he could to find a replacement, unfortunately with little luck. He did say that he would would the right size the next day and all would be sorted. Bearing this in mind after a long journey and having unpacked we decided to remain in the room declining the opportunity to change rooms. The evening meal was served by the same person who greeted and welcomed us on arrival; he.had a good sense of humour and did all that he could to make us feel welcome, nothing was too much trouble for him. We enjoyed the various courses and the accompanying wine. Sleep did prove problematic, with the AC making a terrible rattling noise which continued for a long time even after it was switched off. The flush on the toilet didn't stop running automatically, so well after half an hour my husband managed to stop it. We realised that this would be a problem throughout our stay. Unfortunately, the lack of a plug continued to be a problem as the manager had not been to find a replacement the next day. It's these little things that have a negative effect on a stay. I cannot understand why no one had sorted out the room problems in the past. Not what I would have expected from a superior room. It is important to note that at all times staff at the hotel were polite and helpful.

Very professional and helpful staff. Lovely accommodation. Good location as we wanted a nice stop off on the way to the south coast for holiday. A nice first night to the holiday. We walked to the row bridge pub along the canal for a meal.

Performing Well Under Difficult Circumstances

Leisure trip. Picked this hotel due location and membership of Accor loyalty scheme. No major issues - service, facilities etc were as I would expect from Mercure. Only complaint was that the mini-refrigerator in my room wouldn't get cold. The important thing from my perspective was how the hotel was coping with Covid - not so much regarding hygiene (because I trust you to get this right) but how it would affect service levels. In this respect, it was OK. My room was still being cleaned and made up every day, and the breakfast experience was as good as could reasonably be expected (I liked the 'tick box' menu I was given on check-in which allowed me to customise my breakfast and nominate a time to visit the restaurant). It was also good that a certain level of self service (hot drinks, juice, conserves etc) was maintained, allowing me to help myself when I felt like it.

arrival was good, excellent service and very covid safe. Menu and restaurant excellent. Room good except the washbasin/ tap not working luckily I was able to use the shower but no coffee in the morning. reported to reception where the manager got me a take away coffee. would stay again

Nice, clean and friendly atmosphere. We had booked for two nights. Unfortunately the TV didn't work in our first room so we were offerred another. Unfortunately the TV didn't work in that room either so we were offerred a third room. The TV worked but unfortunately the bathroom had a problem in that room so we were given an upgrade to a superior room where everything worked, except the extractor fan ! (which wasn't a problem). Staff were very friendly, apologetic and helpful throughout and it was a convenient location so we would stay there again if the need arose.
