Public spaces OK, but our room had a air conditioning unit/generator outside the window which caused problems throughout the night. Complained at the reception, only to be told a few people have complained before about this. Spoke to the on duty manager about another matter without getting satisfaction. Asked for contact details of CEO of Mercure in this country. Nobody seemed to have any idea who this was, but eventually got a name, but no contact details. Very unlikely that we would stay at this hotel group ever again.

The drinks were extortionate - £6.60 for a pint of coke should be illegal! Room was nice but not really what I would call superior. Nice staff, although to be told that they MAY be able to russel up a sandwich for lunch was a bit of a shock.

Suitable for our needs, only a one night stay. There was only two pillows on the bed, it think there should have been four.

Great hotel, clean and tidy, with friend efficient staff. Beds are big and comfortable, warm rooms, with big bathroom which includes bath/shower. Stayed for a friends birthday party, buffet was good, music varied one criticism is that the temporary dance floor needs to be secured properly, ruined my heels in the gaps when dancing!! Breakfast varied.

Good but had a sewage smell in the bathroom and didn’t offer any form of compensation other than move rooms on the last day to use the shower. Inconvenienced me as I was there for a course and exam on the last day. Other than that great food and service from staff

We attended a 60th Birthday party and stayed the night. The room where the party was held was very good. Plenty of comfortable seating and a good dance area. On the whole a great evening except that the resident DJ was not good. Considering the general age group was over 60 there was no tracks being played for that era even when requested. He should have done his homework beforehand!

Very friendly staff but I was not offered my free drinks voucher on arrival. The last time I stayed I had to ask for the voucher, this time I did not bother.

The hotel is very clean and so is the rooms, staff is very good in the bar and restaurant. some times we have long wait for food to come out but normally good. with Breakfast I think you should have a menu with the extra items what you make but as a customer you don't know what you can have extra because no staff let you know. but good breakfast.

We always arrive late evening, and there's always a cheery night porter to check us in. We can usually get our favourite room (with a view over the fields), and the place is very quiet. Breakfast need some attention. Buffet style service does not work as the hot food is never hot, and the coffee making is diabolical. The hotel used to provide fresh cafetieres from the kitchen, and tea needs to be made with boiling water! As we seemed to be the only guests for our last stay, the kitchen staff had not put on the usual buffet, and our food was cooked to order - considerably better!

From the moment we walked into the hotel to the time we left, the whole experience was excellent. A warm welcome on reception immediately made us feel that we were valued customers. The well appointed, spacious and comfortable room had a comfortable bed and great bathroom. The restaurant, both for breakfast and dinner was just perfect. Above all the staff were great and all so friendly. A great place to stay.

Having stayed at the hotel a number of times we usually find it very enjoyable, however this time there was one particular issue . We were in room 232 which was almost directly over reception, and during the night we could hear a constant sound of music coming from below , not loud but just enough to be heard . This carried on throughout the night until about 6 am . We did report this to reception on leaving and with hindsight we should have perhaps reported it sooner . This will not put us off using the hotel in future but at the time it was a little annoying.

The hotel was not full just after Christmas but our welcome was very friendly, the room and breakfast good. A touch classier in feel than some rival chains. We do wish Mercure supplied proper glasses in the bedroom and the duvets could have been wider and if we had not been out all evening there would not have been enough Freeview channels. Thank you for giving us good bedside lights, which your rivals do not often provide.
