A friend and I had a spa break. We were greeted very pleasantly by reception, as we expected our room was not ready as we arrived just after 11am. We were offered to leave our bags and went to explore and get some lunch. We later returned to reception and our room still wasn’t ready but we were offered an accessible room which was ready. We were happy with this and the room was fine although not in the main hotel block and no air conditioning or a fan. We had a lovely afternoon using the spa and had a lovely evening meal. However on our return to our room it was incredibly hot so we opened the windows and door as we were on the ground floor. We made the decision to leave the door half open with the table in front of it to prevent anyone entering. Unfortunately at 2.30 am we were awoken by a man trying to enter our room. Luckily we both woke and the man retreated. I would like to hope that it was simply someone trying to return to the wrong room. We were some what shell shocked and didn’t report it at the time as wanted to go back to sleep. We had treatments booked the following morning so did not report it then either. But now having thought about the experience we feel we should let you know.

We booked this stay as it came highly recommended, however , we had serval issues / concerns, we payed extra upon arrival for the two bed gold course view apartment , (room 506). Overall cleanliness was fine, however I cut my toe on the cracked floor tile by the entrance of bedroom 1, we did not complain at this point as we was just looking forward to our break, Then later on at night there was a strong buzz / high pitched noise from bedroom 2, this was a plug socket for a usb , upon further inspection I see the pins had been bent up inside , luckily I did not try and charge any of our items with this. So we both ended staying in bedroom 1 as the sound was unbearable. This was reported the following morning , furthermore to our stay we was booked in for a spa treatment , I’m fairly certain whilst having my treatment the woman was falling asleep while giving me my treatment , heavy breathing and a pause in treatment momentarily , this was the last spa appointment at 5pm for 40 minutes, the spa treatment was a much different experience compared to to my partners after taking notes and comparing, this confirms my theory , anyhow this wasn’t to much of bother to me, regarding food , the spots bar was perfect , we then had dinner at the kings restaurant at 8pm, and I did find the chips to be slightly undercooked and the steak was a little undercooked also, however this may be mostly down to personal preference. For as highly rated your place is , I’m quite disappointed with my stay.

Probably not somewhere I would stay again , the room was incredibly uncomfortable because it was so hot with no air conditioning.The spa was more like Butlin’s from 3-5 with kids jumping in the pool and not what you would expect from what I thought was a luxury spa . The cocktail bar wait for a drink was ridiculous and took 40 minutes to get a drink . While having a shower evening and morning the water went off and we tried to contact reception but no answer. The restaurant meal was delicious so probably the only thing that I actually enjoyed. I wouldn’t recommend or return there again .
