We had a very unhappy stay at Fairmont. From check-in, which was a frustratingly long-winded affair, to the extremely abrupt and unpleasant manner of the spa manager (which reduced me to tears), to being charged for food in the restaurant that didn't reflect our meal, to my mother falling in the room and breaking her shoulder (the carpet, being very new, was very shiny and slippery even through we were in adjoining rooms designed for people with accessibility needs). Short of Tyler, who was lovely, myself, my mother and my children all felt very unwelcome at this hotel, which given the cost of staying there is very poor. I should add, staff are aware of our terrible experience and have contacted me. However, at present no offer to reduce or refund the cost of staying has been made at the time of writing this review (which I was emailed about and asked to complete). I have also lost a jacket, which was raised with the hotel three days ago and I still don't have an answer as to whether it has been found or not. My overwhelming view of this hotel is that I would never want to stay there again and I would never recommend it to anyone else. I should add for the purposes of context, I have stayed in other five star hotels and had a VERY different experience. Whilst Fairmont looks fantastic from the pictures and the reservations staff were very courteous and helpful during the booking process, the actual experience of staying at the hotel was, for us, awful.
