We just loved our night stay thank you. It was my daughter’s birthday and they went above and beyond, Leela, Marta and Salvatore. They gave her a unicorn balloon, cupcakes and a lovely card from the staff! It couldn’t have been better and great value for two rooms also. Thank you so much

The staff were great & upgraded our room on arrival. When we returned to our room later we were greeted with a bottle of wine ,chocolates & balloons along with a birthday card signed by the staff. It was totally unexpected & very much appreciated !

Initially we dropped in our bags, as it was too early to check in, this is a much needed service for those visiting Reading and we went off shopping. Check in and payment was then problem free, we split the bill between three people and this was accommodated. We went up to our allocated room to find it didn’t have the sofa bed we expected in it. We phoned reception, their reply to the fact 3 adults couldn’t share one bed was for us to just open the sofa bed. Of course the room had no sofa bed. Once they understood we then all went back to the reception. On arrival another room had been found for us while we were on our way down, however the sofa bed was not made up. We were assured this would be done as soon as they could. We then went to find our room, which did this time contain a sofa bed. We then had to ask for extra towels and toiletries. We went out for the rest of the afternoon and upon our return the sofa was made up and ready with extra towels and toiletries were placed ready on it. We then went out for the night and had a great nights sleep on our return. The provision of water by the bar downstairs was very much appreciated. When it came to check out, we wanted to leave our bags again as we weren’t leaving Reading yet. This was accommodated. However, they weren’t initially put into the secure room but left outside. We weren’t very happy with is and waited in reception to make sure they were locked away. We pointed this out after waiting for about 10 minutes to the guy on the desk and he assured us they would be fine. He however had a huge check out queue to deal with by himself, as well as people also wanting to leave their bags. We actually saw some people enter the room at one point to take their bags out themselves. We got the attention of a lady on the bar and explained our concerns, she said not to worry but we insisted it seemed she want to get someone else to help us. However she never returned. Another lady did go to help out at reception in the end, but we still had to ask the guy again to put our bags inside the room and close the door as we were worried. He did this and we went on our way. When we returned later collecting out bags was quick and easy. The room contained everything we required, and more. The Bluetooth speaker and hairdryer were a great touch, which we made use of while getting ready to go out. We also liked the notice about recycling of paper, cans and bottles - we left out our items as instructed. We found the towels a bit small, the smaller ones didn’t fit round our heads after washing our hair. We did have issues, but mostly these were easily resolved. Most staff members we encountered were polite and helpful. Everywhere was very clean and tidy both inside out room and the rest of the hotel. There are some very good facilities there, we just didn’t need to make use of most of them. I definitely think you need more staff on reception during check out time as everyone seemed to arrive at the same time and there was just so many people there. Nothing would put me off staying again, some things just need attention. Thank you!

The room was quiet on the 12th floor and it is a nice and clean hotel with good services. One concern about staying at the hotel next time is hygiene somewhere in the breakfast chain. I started feeling ill on three mornings within about an hour from breakfast and 4 or 5 of my colleagues experienced stomach problems also during the one week stay. We all stayed at the Novotel whilst colleagues staying in other hotels experienced no problems. Some of these colleagues were in other teams at work, so I had no interaction with them and this leads me to believe there was something in the food. One Morning i had to take a new cup of tea as the one i brewed with water from a thermos tasted so foul i could not drink it. Maybe it was the water, or maybe the cup was just badly washed. Like said, I liked the hotel otherwise but these problems make it quite hard for me to try it again.

It started poorly and ended on a high note! We did not realize that you could not drive up to the front door, and then could not find parking so had to park in the public garage and drag the bags up the hill to the front door. Then the key cards for the designated room would not/could not open the door, so this was a further delay when on a very tight schedule for a dinner. The staff were very friendly, quickly reacted when they heard that two of their guests were celebrating their 60th birthdays. Ordering a taxi on the Monday morning was a very slow process and we found a taxi on the street in quicker time. Checking out was painless.

The trip in November was much more pleasant than the busier December - when we usually visit-as we were able to park easily in the hotel car park. The rooms are always clean and comfortable. The location next to the train station is the biggest benefit for us. The only disappointment is that the breakfast is not included in the Tesco deal nowadays.

Good town centre location (parking was a problem though)

Overall pretty good although it didn't start too well as had trouble finding the car park. Not easy in a busy town centre with one way streets and bus lanes. Nowhere to drop bags or passengers off outside so a struggle to get from the car park. Once there a nice hotel with a small pool which was ideal for a relax after a journey. Staff helpful ad friendly, food was good and town centre location was excellent.

Not greeted as Accor silver member Drinks voucher and Tuesday evening get together wasn’t even told Laundry was Neither returned nor informed why not was not delivered until asked for Shower was leaking and wasn’t fixed at all one of the Bed light wasn’t working and not fixed Overall service quality especially staff in the reception wasn’t meeting the expectations Though there was lots of displays about Accor membership and benefits I didn’t get anything

I had a great stay at Novotel reading centre. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful; they had me checked in at 12:30 rather than 2pm. The bar and breakfast staff were lovely as well. The breakfast was fantastic, wonderful selection and good quality. Grabbed a decaf teabag by mistake so they could’ve done with some better labels on the jars. The pool/sauna/steam room area is a fantastic perk. One downside is that both were a bit dirty, and had multiple towels strewn on the floor. The room was good, but also could’ve done with a more thorough clean- there were crumbs on the bedside table and hairs in the shower. Otherwise I couldn’t fault the stay.

For a family stay you can't go wrong with Novotel, large rooms, family orientated, reception really helpful and really impressed with your second room family offer of which I will use in the future as our children get older. Thank you to reservations/Leela as well. Some confusion on my part with a gift voucher but Leela was really polite and we were also allocated a great room! We will be sure to return. Your survey mentions 'Le Club'. I have no idea what this is and was not notified of these member benefits.
