Check in was fast clean room though 24 hours parking is really expensive being in the centre parking safely can be tricky so we decided to stay in their space which was a bit confusing to navigate with the postcode given since its in an area that ypu might think is a delivery bay. We were visiting a family nearby anf went back past midnight had an issue with reception not opening the parking gates for us that I have to go walk upfront to discover no one is in reception both me and my husband has been ringing. After 15 minutes outside of the front of the hotel 2 staffs emerge and finally our car was able to go in the parking. I just hope at least one staff stays in reception for incidents like this,we even tried calling the reception phone number no one answered. Aside ftom that incident we did not experience any problem,breakfast was great and plenty,pool was cold but my daughter wasnt too bothered.

My only problem was the room, it was very hot, the only way to cool it down was having a window open all night !!! not what you really want in January....

We have stayed so many Novotel, but this one was the best , very nice classy interior in lobby area and the bar and restaurant..lovely kids play area, very clean room, good service, nice pool and spa , my kids enjoyed a lot , they want to go again here, hotel is right in front of everything, shopping , night out , riverside walk , even a week stay won’t get bore in this hotel, I recommend this Novotel to everyone ❤️

We only stayed for one night but it was a great night! The room was very big, comfy and I was so happy to find there was a bath! Staff were friendly and made check in and check out quick and smooth. Car park was appreciated, secure and gated entry.

good customer service, all staff smiling, well presented and attentive good parking as we booked in advance good breakfast although options were limited e.g. no beef sausages, as we don not eat pork Room very comfortable although there were some dust on the headboard and marks of tea on the bed side table water was available though limited options (prefer ordinary water than still water) Please note: we did not contact customer service for this as we were only there for one night

The hotel location and comfort is spot on However service is nothing close to a 4 star hotel standard. This is the second time I book Novotel reading and the experience was worse this time. The staff is not particularly welcoming. Things are done with so much laxism it seems they don’t know what they are doing. I did encounter a very unpleasant experience when I was checking in. It was handed so poorly by the receptionist but I did receive some apologies so I brushed it off. I love the brand but I may avoid this particular hotel for some time

Once again we enjoyed our stay at the Novotel Reading. The family rooms are spacious enough and clean and comfortable. Good on-site facilities with good restaurant and bar service and excellent breakfast. The hotel also has a swimming pool, which is always a hit with the kids. We have stayed here on several occasions as well as next door at the lower budget Ibis Hotel. The hotel is excellently located at close proximity to the rail station and the central shopping area of Reading. Definitely our hotel of choice whenever passing through and room availability. If room unavailable the Ibis next door is our next choice.

Car parking not great

The main issue I had was that when I booked there was no indication I had to call some random number to try and book into your car park as well. I would have expected for the price to have parking included (as the website implied). Instead when I turned up and finally found the car park I was told that I had to book in for that as well and pay extra and that the car park was full so I would have to find somewhere else to park (suggested car park was a 15 min walk away). When we walked back to the hotel and finally checked in and got into our room, we found that some of the towels had black stains on them. Thankfully there were spare towels, but it really didn't give us a great initial impression. Thankfully from that point onwards everything was fine. Breakfast was good and the staff serving food were very friendly and helpful (to be honest they saved the stay in my mind). No issues checking out and overall acceptable. You really need to advertise the fact you need to book for the car park separately (oh and that it's more expensive than Reading station car park)

The Best Hotel or me to Stay in the UK

I am a regular guest in Novotel hotel, so when I decided to visit, I phoned the hotel directly too book. Bruno the duty manager offered me the best rate I could get in Reading for a similar service. Upon my arrival, young “Hugo” handled my check in. He is very smart and intelligent, and never forget the tiny details even with the welcome drink. I could see that he is the future of the hotel if he continues. He made everything easy from check in to check out. As a platinum member, It was really nice to get the upgrade immediately to one of the nicest executive rooms in the Hotel. When I entered, there was a chocolate cake and a signed card by manager Ann waiting for me, which was the icing on the cake. During my stay, I was very happy with everything. It was obvious the impact of Bruno all the time. He makes each guest like his own guest at home. Even during busy moments, he is firm with his staff and does things by himself without putting a pressure on anyone. What can I say when I see the duty manger goes himself to deliver towels or drinks to the rooms when the staff at night are trying to take care of the high load of work. All my respect to him, and I really wish to see him in a high ranking position globally one day. My appreciation also goes to Raquel in the reception. The lovely Brazilian attitude was obvious when she was handling any concern or complain from me or other guests. She is very polite and professional. Finally, my sincere appreciation goes to the Romanian housekeeper in the 11th floor. Unfortunately, I couldn’t remember her name, but I believe she deserves a special thanks and recognition. This old lady is very clean, honest, tidy and seriously work from her heart. When she is around I never fear missing any valuable thing and I know I will come and find the room in the best condition, and with fresh air because she knows when to open the windows and when to close it. Thanks to all the team for everything.

Shocking parking

Hotel was clean and modern large room, however, upon arrival we were told that the car park was full and had to park elsewhere even though I had prepaid car parking while booking this trip. I have yet to recieve a refund for the parking I was unable to use. Without the above issue I would have confirmed our stay was excellent.

Enjoyable stay even if only I night. Sadly the bar had closed by the time I got back from.dinner so didn't get to.sample that. Room.was nice, though maybe a little.small. Nice king-size bed and power shower. The only complaint would be housekeeping knocked on door twice even though I had put do not disturb sign up. Checkout is 12, so had not expected door to open at 930 and then another knock at just before 11. I was trying to enjoy a sleep in so a little annoying.

Got turned away at the car park and had to stay at Queen's Road across town, not convenient with heavy luggage. It was not made clear on the website that there were very limited spaces or we had to pre-book. Apart from that we enjoyed our stay.
