we had a great time,my daughter enjoyed the pool,sauna is great for adults. Well located with a short walk into town centre,we also went ice skating each day and easy to drive to other places from hotel car park. The only downfall was we stayed in one of the terraced suites and I found the vents etc very loud at night time keeping me awake a lot however I was the only one from our party to experience this.

The service here was pretty poor. The oriental chap questioned our booking ie. he said we didn’t have breakfast booked several times even though I had the booking reference. Despite sorting this, we were still stopped at breakfast time and told we didn’t have breakfast booked. The gent that then checked us in was brusque. The restaurant and bar was very slow and didn’t have enough staff. We couldn’t get out of the barrier and no one answered the buzzer so we had to re Park the car. Again the oriental man, spoke nicely to a gentleman, stopped to help a lady and just told me to queue and wait for reception whilst tapping me away on the arm. Very disappointing

The poor experience started before I even arrived, as try as I might I could not check in over the internet via the links provided in the email. When I arrived and did check in I was astonished to find I have to pay a further £60 for the 'privilege' of parking in your facility when I had already paid to stay in your facility. This was when the patronising started, when I was told I could try to find a space in the residential streets near the hotel if I didn't to pay. The keycard system to let me into my room was absolutely appalling. It took 5 cuts of the key to get me into my room immediatly after check when I went to reception I was told it must be because I had kept it near my mobile phone!! Each time I tried to get into my room new key cards had to be cut/programmed. For a 5 day stay I think I used around 47 different key cards!! Almost every time the receptionist was saying I'd kept it near my mobile or that I was putting it into the lock too fast!!. On one occasion the receptionist had to use 4 different cards and eventually let me in with her master key. When I used the sink in the bathroom the stench from the waste was unbearable, how was this missed by the housekeeping staff, the TV would only work on BBC1. There was some fixture above the desk that flaked paint onto the desk for the duration of the stay. The room did not get warm, regardless of the temperature I set the thermostat to the room temperature did not go above 15%. The front of house staff were dismissive of the fact I was annoyed and not happy with the service, not seeing it as their problem. The on;y staff wanted to try to help and make the stay bearable was Steve, a night porter and Eduard form the maintenance team.

My hotel room was dirty! The duvet had a big black round stain! The drain in the bathroom sink and bath did not drain and we were a family of 4 after showers it was very high!!!!!!!! I git stuck in the lift on the 3 floor for about 10 min! I’ve stayed in number of Novotel and this is the worst I’ve ever! As well I wasn’t offered any composition I am very disappointed!!

Very pleasant and helpful staff on reception, in the bar, restaurant and breakfast area. Main meals excellent but Welsh Rarebit snack disappointing. Breakfasts excellent with plenty of choice. Housekeeping for our room was disappointing as essential requirements where not always replaced e.g toilet rolls.

Comwing back to the hotel one evening, i find that my door is still open from when the housekeeping had clean that morning. Also cups mot wash on a daily basis has to ask reception for additional tea bags and milk for the room.

We had booked a standard room for two adults and two toddlers, we booked online and requested a cot for the room for our one year old, and would have used the sofa bed for our three year old, on arrival we were informed the standard room would not accommodate a cot and we were subsequently upgraded to an executive room. The staff were so polite, friendly and welcoming, the room was spotless and suited to our needs. We were able to park in the hotel car park which was great though cost an extra £12 per day. we were able to leave the car and walk into town so no additional parking costs. The pool was lovely and clean and warm enough for the children, the Jacuzzi was a little cool but the steam room was perfect. Breakfast was self serve with a vast selection including a make your own pancake machine which was super easy to use. We ate supper in the bar one evening and found the food to be good value for the price paid. I would highly recommend the Novotel Cardiff to other family groups.

All pleasing save for the disappointing lack of anywhere to hang coats in the bedroom ---- it was very wet during our stay and we were surprised that there were no coat hooks in the lovely spacious bedroom

I stay a lot in Novotel all over the world, but I am sorry to say that I wont go back to the Novotel In Cardiff. The staff is totally not service oriented. I was waiting in the restaurant and the girls were just standing behind the bar laughing and playing with there phone. I had to walk up to them and ask if i could order something. The staff during check in and check out were absolutely not friendly (just one girl, I think she was an intern, she was nice). Room on the first day was not cleaned properly. It seems like all the staff is on automatic pilot and don't care about the guests. I am really sorry to say this.

Received 2 drinks vouchers as a thankyou for checking in on line earlier on the morning of arrival. Very pleased with that. Hotel was easy to find with plenty of parking £12 overnight charge. Short walk into city centre. Room was basic but clean. Didn't use gym but pool was adequate for relaxing swim. Will definitely return.

Clean and Comfortable

The hotel was clean and the beds are very comfortable with clean bedding. We had fresh towels everyday. The staff were friendly and the additional facilities of the hotel were great for families such as the pool and the games in the reception area. It was also very convenient to be able to eat on site in the evening. The hotel was conveniently located half way between the centre of town and Cardiff Bay. The only downside was that you could hear people talking in the other rooms and out in the corridor- and we were woken up at 3 a.m by people banging their doors and laughing and talking loudly. We were also shocked to see dogs were allowed at the hotel- as I am allergic to dogs and my daughter is scared of dogs, it did upset us. We could also hear dogs barking when in our room.

room very poorly cleaned little to no supply of tea coffee milk or towels had to go to main desk both days of stay to request them. paid for both evening meals with cash yet on checkout the staff tried to charge me for the last nights meal luckily i kept the receipt as it was charged to the room also.

Due to the weather we stayed in the hotel for meals which we were a bit apprehensive about but turned out to give us two really good experiences. The staff both on the reception desk and the bar were pleasant and friendly which helped to make our stay a good experience despite the ravages of Storm Dennis.
