Everything you could wish from a 4star Hotel, and more! On a quiet street right in the city centre, we were only a short walk from almost anywhere on our itinerary, while also being able to get a good night’s sleep. This is a small hotel, which gives it the loveliest boutique feel, with charming decoration and an ambiance that just makes you feel at home. From the moment we checked in, the reception staff were very nice and most helpful; even though our room wasn’t yet ready (because we were early), they offered to safely store our luggage so that we were able to enjoy the morning around the city. They even provided good recommendations on where to eat, upon asking. They will greet you with a friendly smile whenever you walk past the reception desk, and that kind of attentiveness is rare to find nowadays. The room was cleaned spotless, very spacious and the beds were most comfortable. The amenities were also good quality. We were even given a small welcoming treat (pastel de nata) and hand-written note upon arrival to our room. In the morning, the breakfast buffet had good variety and everything we tried was just delicious. The restaurant staff were also very nice, and nothing ever runs out because they are constantly bringing out whatever needs replacing. We decided on Hotel Mercure Aliados for a weekend getaway, and it did not disappoint: this was an absolutely marvellous stay!
