We stayed as a family — my husband, children, and my parents — and had an excellent experience at Swissotel Al Maqam. We were kindly upgraded to a beautiful Haram-view room, which made our stay feel especially memorable. The team went above and beyond by preparing cakes for both my daughter’s and my mother’s birthdays, and the decorated room was such a lovely, thoughtful touch. The staff provided us with all the information we needed and were consistently friendly, attentive, and professional. The location is outstanding: just a few minutes’ walk from the Haram, with fast and frequent lifts that made getting around easy even during busy periods. The direct access to the Clock Tower was incredibly convenient for food and shopping. Overall, it was a truly wonderful and special stay for our whole family. Can’t wait to be back!

The location is great Swissotel al maqam has its own lift which makes it one of the best hotels in the complex due to ease of access to the haram. Breakfast was good. Bathroom needs modernising it was really old but useable. Issue I had was my room was painted a few days before I went, the smell of paint was too strong and my dad and I are asthmatic so we struggled with our breathing due to it. Also the carpet was damp so I assumed they recently washed the carpet which smelt of damp. I spoke to guest services straight away but they didn’t seem to care, I explained our health situation and they sent someone who used an air freshener which worked for 10 minutes and the paint smell was back. The room also had some sort of damp as the paint was peeling off the wall. As people who are sensitive to the air quality and our breathing, the stay was not pleasant for us, however due to paying for the room already, the accessibility and the ease of access to the haram we stayed put. I believe the issue we found with our room was a one off and I appreciate the hotel trying to refurbish the room for customers but they need to be mindful of things like the paint smell and wet carpets. I will return to the hotel again next time but this issue caused a lot of discomfort to us.

The ladies checking us in were not polite and it made for a rude welcome. The room was good but the ac started leaking in the bathroom, they fixed the leak but not the ac. The room was either too hot or too cold and we couldnt adjust it. Also it smelled very musty during the stay either due to the leak or the vent itself. The musty smell and odd temperatures made us have uncomfortable sleep and breathing. Otherwise, the hotel itself was great as well as the elevators and location. We also enjoyed the breakfast and laundry service promptness.

This hotel is in a great location and the staff is excellent. One suggestion for improvement would be to provide clearer guidance for first-time visitors on how to reach the hotel, as it can be a bit difficult to find without familiarity with the area. It would also be helpful to share information about transportation options to and from the airport, especially since there can be scammers around. Overall, a very good stay.
