Overall negative experience. I. Non availability of the room we got explicit confirmation the day before our arrival. Room 206 was assigned for us on July 31 by the hotel reception on the phone. We especially changed the date of our stay since room 206 was occupied the night before from August 01 to 02. We consider the excuse that the room was not available on arrival as a weak excuse because the guest had extended his stay. The hotel knew how much we wanted this room as we were loyal guests to the hotel and always stayed in 206. If room 206 is reserved for us it should remain reserved for us. Giving us another room on arrival is not acceptable. In addition, the hotel did not warn us before our arrival that the room was no longer available, which would be expected of a 5 star hotel. II. Regarding the upgrade to a deluxe room as compensation. This room is not worth a 5-star hotel: 1. Bathroom leather straps of the door opener to the bathroom was broken. 2. The on/off button of the left side bedside lamp did not work. 3. The Nespresso capsules that we requested were brought to us by hand directly taken out of the pocket of the hotel employee. Against cleaness and etiquette. 4. Room preparation for the night: Foot mats were not placed near the bed as in other 5 star hotels and contrary to our previous stays when foormats were placed. 5. The apprentice who welcomed us did not know we were loyal clients and asked if it was our first time at the hotel. We had the impression that we knew the hotel better than her. She also blocked the entrance to our room with luggage of nearby guests. 6. The welcome letter by the managing director mentions ‘a gracious Present’. Which? The place around this letter was empty. 7. We always ask an in-between bedsheet during our other stays. The staff placed the in-between bedsheet as a second matras cover sheet instead of in-between sheet between matras and duvet for reasons of hygiene and comfort. This shows a lack of etiquette and know-how. 8. When returning to the hotel at around 10:30 p.m., there was no one at the reception to answer questions regarding the breakfast as all staff had been gathered together in a separate dining room for talking, eating and drinking. We had to look for the staff to get the answer. Finally, when we informed the hotel about this negative experience by mail we got an even more negative reaction from Mme Naomi Scherlen about this 'Nous trouvons vraiment dommage et regrettable que vous ayez attendu notre mail pour nous faire un retour complétement négatif, très détaillé et menaçant de plus' In other words, she does not take our feedback as positive to improve and win us back.

Encore une fois, ici la réponse de notre Responsable hébergement, envoyée le 5 août passé, à laquelle vous n'avez évidemment pas répondu.... Quelle consternation. Cher Monsieur D., Nous accusons bonne réception de votre mail. Nous trouvons vraiment dommage et regrettable que vous ayez attendu notre mail pour nous faire un retour complétement négatif, très détaillé et menaçant de plus. Nous pouvons assurer de manière formelle que le plateau ne se trouve plus dans la chambre. A titre exceptionnel rien ne vous sera cependant facturé. Restant à votre disposition. We enjoyed the lovely town of Barr and its best hotel. The hotel is located on the small town square and renovated in 2016. The rooms were very comfortable and the staff was kind. We appreciated the time they all took with us whether it was for monitoring our luggage or giving us directions. The spa was amazing and I had a fabulous massage. The spa pool is one of the coolest I’ve ever seen. I would guess it’s about 95 degrees so easy to get in and spend time.

We love this hotel and have stayed there for many years. Beautiful and stylish and with a wonderful breakfast. Staff is super friendly and helpful. The spa is too small for the people at the hotel but overall really nice and highly recommended.

half the menu not available in room service very basic breakfast for 28 each needed to find out you do eggs as the lady told us you don’t room was apparently upgraded but very basic and not worth 330 euro per night basically one night 450 euro for nothing i’m happy to pay this amount of money, but not for this. Return
