Great place to stay to see the surrounding around from Strasbourg to the wine route, Colmar and the Vosges. All the staff we extremely friendly and had time for you. Gorgeous pool. Outstanding restaurant. Only disappointment was not being able to see anything from the junior bedroom suite windows and shower gel container in the shower didn’t work properly.

The 5 Terres in Barr is a genuine pleasure: the conversion of the old building has been done with real care, and the architecture alone justifies the stop. Our room was generously sized, comfortable and quiet, striking a nice balance between historic character and modern hotel comfort. The one thing that needs work is EV charging: there is no real charger, only 220V sockets, and the adapter offered to us was an ungrounded two-pin French plug that our Tesla rejected outright (our Swiss cable did not fit either), so non-French drivers should plan on charging elsewhere.

Only issues were that there was a defective light bulb in the spa pool which acted like a disco light. Also on the day of departure the outdoor pool did not open as planned due to gartners trimming the hedges.

Fab rooms and decor etc. beautiful outdoor and indoor pool. Only thing which let the stay down was the service, we had drinks in the hotel outdoor seating area and each time had to chase up our drinks orders. The staff were polite but we waited on one occasion almost 30 minutes for a drink. Same as at breakfast, we were told about the egg menu but no one ever came to take an order.

- Rooms are uncomfortably small with low ceilings. Space is mostly unusable due to sloping roof. - Hallways are full of stairs, which makes it difficult to navigate if not fully fit. - Hotel staff is mostly untrained and unfriendly. E.g.: Does not greet, makes you wait for everything, does not understand service mentality, does not have extra blankets (“staff has left”), does not speak French or English. - Spa seems to have been installed in order to get the five star rating. It consists of a very large bath tub and a couple of lounge chairs, everything underground with no natural light and an intense smell of chlorine. - Restaurant staff is friendly and knowledgeable, food is disappointing, in particular given pricing and expectation management. Menu is incoherent, ingredient quality is average, taste (subjective) is average. Definitely not worth the money, though. - Overall not worth the money. For a hotel in the middle of nowhere, quality needs to be much higher to attract loyal fanbase.

We spent one night at 5 Terres Hotel & Spa in Barr (March 14–15) for a relaxing couple’s getaway, and the experience exceeded our expectations. The hotel beautifully combines the character of a historic building with elegant modern design, creating a warm and refined atmosphere. Our room was excellent—very comfortable, perfectly clean, quiet, and thoughtfully designed. The balance between contemporary functionality and preserved historical features gives the hotel a unique charm. What truly made the stay special was the exceptional hospitality of the staff. From the reception to the bar and the restaurant team, everyone was incredibly friendly, attentive, and welcoming. Their professionalism and warmth made us feel genuinely well taken care of throughout the stay. The culinary experience was another highlight. We had dinner at the hotel’s restaurant, La Table du 5, and were very impressed. The menu is excellent and well balanced, and the wine list is particularly impressive, offering a wonderful selection that perfectly complements the cuisine. Breakfast the next morning was equally enjoyable, with a great selection of local products, and once again fantastic service from the restaurant staff. Overall, 5 Terres Hotel & Spa is a wonderful destination for anyone looking for a relaxing and stylish stay in the Alsace region. We would happily return and highly recommend it to couples looking for a peaceful getaway with great food, wine, and outstanding hospitality.
